Don't care for the tone and subject matter. I have nothing against it, it's largely par for the course. There's just nothing creative or truly subversive and rebellious enough to make this worth sitting through. The kind of shock this offers simply has no value in this day and age. The only thing that could surprise me anymore is if they made something unironically wholesome.
The one thing that might have given it some legs is a good artstyle, but the few more polished frames seem dull. It sits somewhere between Birdgirl and Family Guy. It reminds me of Praise Petey, and I hope to god this is not the next prevailing style trend for adult cartoons.

The original point of AS was that the overnight scheduling block for a cartoon channel was pure graveyard, so the studio execs gave them a skeleton budget and free reign to do whatever the frick they wanted. Very little of it was popular, but it wasn't intended to be. It was basically one step above Newgrounds. That's why more than one original programmes on the channel was literal gag dubs/proto-YTP versions of cartoons from the 60s (Sealab, Space Ghost, et al). ATHF being as popular as it was was a total fluke.

Sure, they want to win a battle, but why? Who is the main character and why do they participate in the first place? Is there anything at stake? His pitch was essentially:

It was a stylistic thing they purposely added in post as a throwback to the xerox era of Disney. If you watch some of the shorts they've been putting out recently it looks like they're dialing that back quite a bit.

Ramona works better as a delusional sheltered weirdo than a moron, Chrissy works better as a malicious but supportive bossy girl than an outwardly evil and controlling psychopath, annabelle is fine in the second episode and spike is good in both.
The first ep is really flawed in a lot of ways, it's framed like Annabelle learns a lesson but she never learns anything, the boy that fricked her loses his nuts and Spike and Ramona support her through it, there's also no reason Chrissy shouldn't have just told Ramona what an abortion was so she wouldn't be supportive of Annabelle.
Also the girls struggling to say it's better that their friend not being aborted and them not supporting her for being an abortion survivor was incredibly fricked up, even by adult swim standards. It was way more uncomfortable than Ramona fricking a horse.
