Here's your Numenorean queen bro

>The island of Númenor is ruled by the queen regent Míriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), and this seemingly idyllic paradise is facing tensions of its own. Númenórean royals are human but have elvish blood, and for years, they've been friends with their immortal counterparts.

LOL! It's over Tolkien bros....

Im liking the costumes but if I were to slightly nitpick its they do not seem fantasy enough. More realistic and based more heavily on history than fantasy.

The founder of Numenor was a Half-Elf, and lived for 500 years. Numenorans were much longer lived than regular humans, and the most powerful amongst basically chose to die when they had enough of a life lived.

No, I find the fact that they had slavery in Arab lands a very poor defense of the images we've seen, where there are numerous black people dressed as noble Numenoreans, let alone the fact that they shoehorned a Black person into the ruling family

British mythology is Robin Hood and Arthur which had already begun to be SJW'd with black actors suddenly interjected as 'Saracens' into for example Robin Hood that began in the 90s. The best of the Robin Hoods? Connereys little known Robin and Marian
      1976
The only one that even begins to convey the tragedy

Tolkien's world is based on the Irish Norse(old english). It is inspired by Dunsany and Lewis both of whom were Irish, Tolkien would travel to Connemara in Ireland to write the Lord of the Rings as he found the scenery inspirational.

No I don't think so, that was kipling and the 'our island race' text kiplings version being puck of pook hill jingoism of empire. Tolkien was above that, his writing was not about England, it was about what it says it was about, someone starting down the road of a journey caught up in great events and finding you can never go back even when you want to. It was not english jingoism, Tolkien was too educated and moral for that. Poor Kipling paid the price for that with wandering looking for the corpse of his son for the remainder of his life

I guess you no better than Tolkien himself.
            > "The Shire" is based on rural England and not any other country in the world... The toponymy of The Shire...is a "parody" of that of rural England, in much the same sense as are its inhabitants: they go together and are meant to. After all the book is English, and by an Englishman, and presumably even those who wish its narrative and dialogue turned into an idiom that they understand, will not ask of a translator that he should deliberately attempt to destroy the local colour.

Spare us, you fricking pompous windbag. Tolkien didn't specifcially state outright he was writing English mythology, but he lamented to his friends and peers that anything before the Vikings and Romans had been lost to history, and that mythology after that was a patchwork of mythos from the continent.

              Anonymous

This. We have myths of dragons and unicorns etc for a reason. From the Tuatha de Danann to the Druids, the isles were known as the magical isles.

                Anonymous

The Tuatha are Irish mythology. They are in no way connected to Pre-Roman mythology in what became Britain, and much of the mythology of the Tuatha is filtered by Christian medeival monks. I get you're very excited about knowing about it, but it has no connection in any way, and there is no archealogical evidence that such mythology spread from Ireland to the early Britons. None.
Druids are more complicated - what most people think are druids are either the fantastical rubbish Christian monks made up about them in the medieval era, or were political leaders in Gaul. They shared a name but the differences between irish druids and gaulish druids were completely different, and the druids in Gaul were not mythological, they existed when Rome first started it's exploration and conquest of western Europe. Even Julius Caesar wrote about them.

You seem to be under the sad misperception that the British Isles shared common mythology and pagan worship, and you couldn't be more wrong - and Tolkien was focused on creating a mythology of what became Britain - Irish folklore survived, and we know of the Tuatha (or, a lot of monk drivem malarky) because the Romans and Vikings didn't conquer and take over Ireland. Romans didn't even try, and the viking raids came close but they never conquered and settled and drove out the existing irish culture.
Read more books. The Tuata and Irish mythology is great stuff - but stop including it in the mythology of Britain, because it never spread there.

It's not sjw if they have a backstory. Morgan Freeman's presence made sense in the context of the story. He was the only black person in the entire movie and other characters commented his race as remarkable in the context, 'the painted man', 'did god paint you', 'what manner of name is azim'. None of that was immersion breaking and would be considered racist by sjws.

No explanation will be given for why the full white Ar Pharazon's cousin is full black, why there are black elves, how dwarves and hobbits maintain distinct races in isolated communities. It's immersion breaking and a blatant attack on white people and Tolkein.

Tar-Miriel is 'queen regent', so her father (Tar-Palantir) is still around and is the actual ruler of Numenor, he's probably sick/bedbound and she does most of the day to day stuff for him

      Anonymous

Any idea who's playing her father? The actress is a mulatto so i imagine her father is either a white guy who fell in love with a black woman or the other way around.

        >Any idea who's playing her father?
No that's still uncertain so indicates a pretty small role since it hasn't been leaked but I would put money on it being an old white guy
They had more freedom with the casting of tar-Miriel since her mother is unknown in the books
