Americans are mentally ill, it's a nation that was literally founded by child molesters.

Imagine if the quintessential "American" Spider-man was a beer-swilling beaner who hung around Home depots looking for work.
I'll never understand having the trope of "the character that represents and encompasses a country" be something that was/is historically the cultural opposite just for inclusion of those aliens.
      >here's a brit!
      >she's a quran-thumping rag-wearing muslim

      >Imagine if the quintessential "American" Spider-man was a beer-swilling beaner who hung around Home depots looking for work.

In all honesty foreign media should just start depicting Americans are swarthy obese transsexual nonwhites who love Israel, communism and gay buttsex. It's very accurate to what the country is like now. Stuff like Squirrel and Hedgehog is cool and all. But the last thing Americans are is buff wolves who can karate chop people.

The irony about this sort of post is that the UK is significantly whiter than the USA. Britain has a problem with lefty open border activists too, but despite decades of deliberate mass immigration, from the last census Britain is still about 86% white compared to 62% in the USA.

To be frank, demographic change takes about 40 years from extreme majority to minority. The US was still 88% white well into the 1980s, it wasn't until Reagan passed the 1986 amnesty and later Bush passing the 1990 immigration act that the US became extremely browned. The UK leaving the EU pretty much made European immigration dipped drastically while migration from former commonwealth nations like India, Pakistan, Nigeria and so on all increased. Once the Ukrainian refugee supply dries up. The UK from here on out is likely going to get swarthoids just like America, Canada and Australia are currently.

Yes, and Britain isn't all white people, but a white person would be the base expectation when it comes to a character whose identity is based around the UK, just like a black or brown person would be expected for a character whose identity is based around Africa. Making Spider-UK a muslim woman would be the same as making Spider-Africa Elon Musk.

except Spider-uk is also the Captain Britain of their universe, with this design being at least partially inspired by the character Faiza Hussain who becomes Captain Britian in the Age of Ultron universe.
so it kinda raises lots of question about what the captain Britain corp is doing during all of this and what their opinions on canons events are considering the corps is also a Multiversal/Omniversal organisation

i will never understand how the hijab, something used to hide women in genuinely mysoginistic countries in preparation for the burqa, became a feminist icon.

      Anonymous

Because the whole oppressed minority in first world countries tops feminism in the woke scale. Conveniently, western women tend to ignore how Iran looked before Khomeini and his cronies took over.

        Anonymous

There's also a weird... I don't know what to call it, but a "chaining to the past" when it comes to people of a heritage from Muslim countries. They have to be active, practising, believing, even if a little lapsed. The idea of a young girl who's parents were from Iran or something, who basically feels about Islam how any Brit feels about Christianity (basically, a vague knowledge, and in-and-out engagement at weddings and funerals) seems weirdly unrepresented.

          Anonymous

I could say something like that happened in Bend it like Beckham, but those were hindu. I imagine muslims are a hot potato, because the moment you portray a young muslim girl abandoning the faith and becoming westernized to pursue her dreams; you're probably gonna get a lot of angry people complaining about it.

To put a blunt example, Marjane Satrapi wrote Persepolis with the intention of portraying her own experiences before, during and after the iranian revolution; and it is a pretty interesting read because it showed what really happened from the POV of a regular person.

Flash forward to 2018, and muslim girls in California were asking schools to remove it from their libraries because they were offended over a 'wrong' portrayal of islam.

Iran only looked like that in the upper class parts of cities like Tehran. Most of the country was a rural desert shithole filled with religious fundamentalists. The revolution wasn't a matter of if but when, It only intensified when the UK/US overthrew the democratically elected Mohammad Mosaddegh who wanted to nationalize the oil industry of the country.

Kris Anka was lead designer on the movie designs, and is a long time comic artist.

Kris is gays from the gay dimension gay. I don't mean that as an insult. He worked on X men when they were going through the Brian Singer and Iceman is gay period, making it very gay, and one of the runaways runs, which is also gay as hell.

She's upside down for her 2 second appearance and the hijab doesn't fall down from the gravity, it should because Gwen's ponytail points "up" so gravity is a thing but the hijab just ignores it
    0/10 terrible film

...why do you need a Hijab that goes OVER a full mask? There's not an inch of her face or hair showing anyway, the Spider-Man mask already covers everything.

Same reason gwen has a hood I guess

The mask has become the civil identity itself. Notice how the black spider-man wears all black. How the rock fan needs to carry a guitar to let us all know he's a frickin guitarist. this b***h wearing a hijab to cover her hask covering her hair.

Only Miguel truly had a thing going for him. Because even his costume being a day of the dead reference isn't that easy to notice or in your face.

Spider-Man is no longer a story about a random every day man or woman doing the right thing and facing dialy struggles as a normal person.

It's a shit fest of cosplayer jumping around trying to up one another in terms of cultural heritage.

      Welcome to the spider verse.

Neat design but shouldn't have been UK.

England's blue lion motif is fricking great though, wish there was a hero with that as a symbol.

The end of the scarf should go over the back, so the lion motif can be seen, and to create a motion trail.
Lose the hijab thing, keep the scarf.

it's weird that they keep making minority spider-uk's instead of having them from a country where they're a majority, why couldn't this have been for an iranian spider-woman or that black spider-uk be from the congo or some shit

tbf this is only the second after they killed the original Spider-uk off for Shock value i guess in Spider-geddon but it is a bit weird that Spider-verse and comics came up with two very different minority female Spider-uks

Didn't say it did. But the question still remains why she is apparently so representative of Britain that she is so important and so chosen in multiple universes.

she was only chosen once which was by Brian during Age of Ultron, this Spiderverse Spider-uk charecter is meant to be a new charecter called Malala Windsor.
I can't remember why she's worthy of Excalibur though it's been awhile since i've read MI-13

Sort of like any country conquered by any other force, say for example, Romans.

The Romans fricked off and left Britain alone. Middle East has continued to be fricked by the west after they left.
This would be like if Italy constantly sent in assassins and funded terrorist groups to keep Britain unstable.
