What you are referring to is Plot/Protagonist armor. Which is breaking the 4th wall and irrelevant to the lore and mostly, to this fricking discussion.
In the actual lore of the Manga, All that Otsusuki related blood doesn't stop him to fail many times in the beginning of the Manga and being regarded as a massive bust by everyone, especially when he's the direct son of the 4th. Even fricking Hiruzen, the 3rd, who's supposed to protect him, is extremely disappointed in Naruto and as a consequence leave him pretty much in the dirt by himself.
