He's got a point.

He's got a point. Why did they change motivation of Angels when it was said the Pilot is canon and there the issue was overpopulation, but here they say how in fact they kill them because "they are afraid of them"? That makes no sense. Because this shit takes place not long after the pilot so what the frick?

Maaaaan, I just wanted a nice story about Sinners becoming better people and managing to earn forgivness and get into Heaven.
Why the frick did Viv throw that optimistic and unique premise away and instead go for 'Le Heaven Bad', something that has been done countless times before?!?!?

You really think the score will change at all? Rotten Tomatoes is lousy for TV shows. They watch one episode, form a final conclusion from only that, and don't think about it again until the next season.

It'd would have made character's inflection meaningful. Also creates actual stakes for Charlie, considering she would have had an actual chance at saving someone or even deterring the purge by negotiation. Instead we're given everything is black and white, her attempts are pointless and the true purge stopping is just going to be "war with heaven".

With how low quality the show's writing has been so far, and with how pointless and unguided Charlie's idea of redemption has been, I wouldn't be surprised if the season finale was a big group of demons all claiming to accept Jesus Christ into their heart just so they can comedically break into Heaven and start fighting.

What the show needs is unironically a SMT schizoid or some other tinfoil religion nut to advise on demonology and angelic hierarchy.

My main issue with the setting is that there are very clear defined rings around the seven deadly and the Book of Goetia is referenced pretty often but there is just nothing on the Angel side.

They could have fallen back and chosen the Satan=/=Lucifer route and have Satan, who in some interpretations works under God and provides obstacles for humans to test their faith.

In this interpretation, he could easily take Adam's role as a wienery butthole who lives to punish sinners and make more sinners under the reasoning of testing them.

The 4 archangels could be the Heaven equivalent of the overlords. Archangel Gabriel, also a woman just like in SMT, could play a foil to Charlie.

And to pander to the drama homosexuals you could have a love triangle between her, Charlie and Vaggie.

I'm curious how much genuine research they do into the bible/bible stories to get their framework, Some of it feels like they only peripherally know names and some titles and then just make their OC characters and plomp the names onto them, Also i'm holding out for a Puriel angel being made into the show since that would probably be the only angel where the writers could be given a free pass into making a complete hostile dick.

There isn't much to do. The Bible isn't about Heaven/Hell society/politics. Almost all that stuff attributed to the Bible or Christianity is just fanon, and a lot of it is pretty recent.

The Good Place wasn't "God evil, angels evil" it was "God missing, angels no clue what to do, and if you actually got into heaven, you'd be bored to insanity."
But their hell was still hell. The show just took place in an experimental hell banking on imposter syndrome and "hell is other people."

                The entire anime genre.
DITF was literally a show anti-demons and anti-demons they tried to immediately transform into anti-God and anti-Church once they realized:
                >Wait a minute… Why did we write this fleshy Klaxosaur princess call the Virm people “Human wannabes”?
                >OH NO! God punked us! I’m so sorry, Satan! I will fix this by getting humanity raptured and at least reference Jesus and Jehovah as two floating heads, completely replacing the narrative that our dark masters is punking mankind by using racism, Genealogy, and twisted doctrines against them at the most influential Catholic/Christian-like sect.
                Anime is gross.

All preceding 9 plagues had been a series of escalations that demonstrated Pharaoh would just welch on whatever deal was struck. It took going that far to finally break him, and then he stupidly went back on that promise too. Charlie definitely needs an angelic counterpart.

I also want to see Heaven's "Ambassador" to Hell: cool and wise to Hell's lingo. A clinically astute angel, contrasting with Adam's brashness. She's extremely experienced dealing with Hell, tasked with any conversation requiring "tact".

Around 80-90% sure that Emily is going to be the first higher ranking angel that supports Charlie's idea. Not sure about Sera, she thinks the exterminations are necessary for the "natural order" but also looks like she's forcing herself to enjoy the sight of the slaughter.

If they're using vectors that effect is really hard to keep it's proper resolution between shots.

Cell shading maybe easier to manage when it was on cells, but if you're transferring digital files from one computer to another and someone forgot to click the button to save settings, it won't retain the data from the previous system. It's stupid because you'd think doing everything with math would prevent frick ups, but it doesn't.

This is an issue of her having too much creative control.
Plotlines often shift a lot from pilot to episode 1. Murder Drones is an obvious example - the pilot was setting up a completely different story (a comedic love story of two robots in an ice desert), but they realized the premise didn't work, so when the show started, they drifted away from it.
Hazbin Hotel is the same. The premise shifted from redeeming sinners to a war of Heaven and Hell (because Viv would probably start throwing up maggots if she had to write Heaven in any sort of positive light). At this point, the studio should've stepped in and forced her to rewrite everything accordingly. They didn't, and so she created this mangled mess of a story where the overarching narrative makes zero sense.

Their religious trauma is that their mom forced them to wake up early on Sundays for church. That's mostly it.

                >1. Murder Drones is an obvious example - the pilot was setting up a completely different story (a comedic love story of two robots in an ice desert), but they realized the premise didn't work, so when the show started, they drifted away from it.
This actually isn't true, Murder Drones was always going to have a deeper plot, it's just that the creator decided that after the Pilot he wanted to bring the eldritch mystery story to the forefront instead of having it be more of a looming, background focus while the show is mostly the characters going about their various escapades in the world like a more episodic show.
Liam Vickers himself said he decided to move the focus away from being more SOL, and get straight into the TRUE mystery premise by the second episode. The premise itself didn't change. that's what the show was always going to be about. You can see this for yourself in somewhat hidden clues in the Pilot, that refer to big plotlines much later on in the show.

It's not really at all comparable to the situation of Hazbin Hotel. Murder Drones is an example of the creator deciding to cut the filler content out and get straight into the meat of the story. Hazbin Hotel, and Helluva Boss for that matter, are examples of the creator shifting the show away from the actual premise they originally envisioned back when they made the respective Pilot episodes - thus in the actual shows the Pilots make absolutely make no sense and look completely disjointed like it's from a completely different show.

Sometimes you need someone to step in and wrangle a project back on track. It doesn't work all the time, but there are times where having someone from the outside step in and go, "Look this isn't working." Is for the best. For example, Disney with Kingdom of the Sun.

I don’t think it’s as big of a deal as he’s making it out. The issue is still with the population. We had just assumed that “overpopulation” had meant they couldn’t physically fit in the space. But it turns out Heaven just decided “we won’t allow your population to get bigger because we said so (because we want you weak).” Functionally this doesn’t have to change anything. The hell people still can’t do shit about it, so they don’t care about the reason. And Charlie still thinks redemption is a way out because she still has misplaced faith that Heaven will allow sinners to switch teams. With or without the “rise against” line she still looks just as naive, because Adam and everyone else still tells her “no it just plain doesn’t work like that.”

        This.

On the internet religion is just something you pretend to follow so you can get victim points. But White right-wingers especially, they are desperate for victim points because they are not black or gay.

Nothing about animated medium has to be for kids that's just the historical trend. It's been that way because animation is hard so making animation for kids is the easiest option.

I don't really know what thread to stick this in, so I will put it here
    This was me

    [...]

. Just finished watching the four episodes and the pilot. I get what people have said, about this show not being great or bad, but just good. It has its moments, but also falls flat. Some thoughts:
-I thought the pilot overall had much more lively and expressive animation. The show has its moments of good animation, but there are times where its very poor (Charlie leg kick by the door.gpf).
-Charlie and Vaggie looked better in the pilot. I thought Charlies original VA was fine, singing felt fine. Vaggies new VA is awful, and her singing voice is so different from her talking voice.
-Angel Dust lost some of his sassyness from the pilot. Talks slower in the show, has a New Jersey accent (I think thats it). That said the new voice grew on me over time.
-I liked Alastor's voice more in the pilot, mainly because there was more radio modulation to it. I like that gimmick. It's clear that Alastor is the first character created, some of the later ones lack creativity. I think I liked his red teeth better.
-Katie Killjoy had an okay voice in the pilot, sounds awful now. Don't really know why is came so hard down on Charlie, its like she was only a plot device in the pilot so Charlie could rant her hotel idea.
-Sir Pentious, I really like design. How that part of him keeps flaring up. I like the sss on the s words.
-I'm not really into musicals, so this show is at odds with me from the start. But man, some of the songs feel so forced. The first one in the first episode, caught me so off guard I was like wtf why, you don't need to sing this point. Often times I find it grading. Like the arms dealer we just met you WHY are you singing now. That being said, I really liked the songs in the 4th episode Poison is catchy with good animation and the Angel/Husk duet is also really well done.

-I'm torn on the swearing. It's so bizarre to see a show like this styled in how its styled drop so many uncensored f bombs and not be some ultra grim dark show looking series. A few good carefully placed curses can really spice up a line or scene, but too many at once and its just like...it was written by en edgey teenager. The show overdoes the swearing at times there are clumps where its just too much. Was actually surprised to see c**t used.
-Charlie is supposed to be the main character but is overshadowed by everyone else. She is so meek and timid like she is the devils daughter but acts so ditzy and shit. I find her annoying at times. And the one time she has some balls in episode four she gets shot down by Angel Dust. I also don't get why Vaggie got all sad and needed her own song. I barely know this character and I felt nothing when she sang.
-The musical number for Vox was dumb and would have made more sense had him and Alastor met first and then broke into song but Vox starts singing and Alastor just kinda knows hes there suddenly and chimes in.
-Sir Pentious lets go of the eggs why the frick did Vaggie see the need that Alastor destroy then couldnt they just leave the hotel? That really threw me for a loop.
      -Could barely understand Zestial.
-Angel Dust ignored Valentino for the entire show until episode four. Why suddenly in episode four he goes into work? Valentino was pissed before he wasn't showing up, but yet wouldnt chase after him.
-Before episode 4, I found it hard to like any of the characters besides Sir Pentious because everyone felt like an unlikable butthole. Reminded me of the BBC puppet show Mongrels. Episode four was the first time I actually felt some tension of the situation with Angel Dust and I really liked him falling apart and shedding for a moment is fake exterior. And as stated before that episode had the best songs.
So yeah those are some thoughts.

      >vaggie's new VA is awful
she's really not, they just decided to have stephanie Beatriz just use her Rosa Diaz voice rather than, say, Mirabel. This also results in her singing voice be fricking INCREDIBLY jarring because she's artificially deepening her voice for Vaggie.

      >episode 4 was the first good episode
agreed hardcore. The actual animation and payoff for Poison was way better in the show, and his duet with husk was FANTASTIC. Easily top 3 for the HH series songs for me.

I'm also going to add that recasting husk as Keith David was so, SO fricking distracting. I like Keith david, man's voice is pure sex...but jesus christ, he just has the one voice, and it's distracting as FRICK hearing it come out of a cat bird.

Poison was the first time where I did not feel a musical number was forced and fricking up the pacing, and groaning the second it started.
        >and his duet with husk was FANTASTIC.
I'll admit I did groan the second Husk started singing because I was like "we just did this! we just had a musical number"! But I liked Angel getting annoyed by his shots and was quickly won over by the duet aspect of it.

Episode 4 was weakened by Charlie being a moron, Angel not suffering enough, the weak singing chops of his new VA ESPECIALLY compared to Keith David. Which again, is such a bizarre choice.

Then the song to 'cheer up AD' was just Husk saying "Lol I was an overlord gambling addict and we both fricking suck, just accept you're a used up prostitute"
There is zero chemistry, just Husk telling AD he's annoying and AD getting pissy. This is some setup for a romantic ship? Please.
Poison made AD's trauma (he's only defining trait besides being a prostitute/junkie) sexy. We're expected to believe Valentino rapes the shit out of him, yet when AD is seen with Val he seems estastic about having sex with him.
I can't help but feel this show is just jingling car keys but with adults. "Hey look at these character designs, look at the animation but don't think OH GOD, please don't you DARE think about this shwo for a second! WEEE it's a furry!! >made the trauma sexy
you literally see him getting raped in the background. you're supposed to see the veneer of sex masking the trauma. He is EXPLICITLY clear, as in he TELLS husk, that he's making a front so that once he eventually breaks, valentino will leave him alone.

You mean the background where he's dancing? Where he's put in the BDSM gear?
Do you mean the gangbang? Or the time he's with the bawds at the club? He dances with Valentino both with him and on a strip pole, performs for porn, goes to the club then he runs to Val and is all ahegao happy when Val is fricking him.

This anon here. Just discovered the Addicted music video. This is an odd piece of media - the show wasn't even out yet and yet this promotional piece exists just for the pilot. What's the deal, did some fan right the lyrics and music and they got the character actors to sing it?
I will say after hearing his singing voice I think I kinda prefer the singing voice of Angel Dusts new voice actor. Though it was hard to hear, god awful autotune hate that shit. I also forgot he had a pet pig.
I completely forgot about Cherri Bomb, did this character gets axed from the show entirely? Her voice actor could actually sing.
      Animation was alright.
Song is EDM shit that's not my thing at all.

I then watched that farewell video from the pilot cast. That was a weird one. No animation just propped up characters singing. No idea why they used Charlies new design, and why no Vaggie?
No one in the comments shit talking Viv so I'm wondering how much it was her choice was more so might have been a push by Amazon to get better VAs. Husks is def an improvement.

I think Addict was done to just draw more attention to the franchise, since if HH didn't get picked up it'd probably live on through supplementary material.
        >I will say after hearing his singing voice I think I kinda prefer the singing voice of Angel Dusts new voice actor.
Same. IMO Roman Blake really showed he earned the part when Val was beating the shit out of Angel, he did a great job conveying just how terrifying it'd be.
        >I completely forgot about Cherri Bomb, did this character gets axed from the show entirely?
She was cast but she won't show up until some point after episode 5, and we don't know if she's still Angel's friend or what.

One issue I have with hazbin aside from "heaven le bad" is that there was so much potential to explore other aspects of the bible, christianity, and other closely related texts that other shows just don't do, or do crappy subversions of them, like the actual reason lucifer is in hell plus the fight that will happen between him and archangel michael, the idea of repentance, cain and abel, and lot more. How would the fight between michael and lucifer affect Charlie's goal? Do figures like Cain, the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, or the pharisees have any influence? Will Charlie explore the idea of repentance and what it truly means? Then there's stuff like the other demons in the Ars Goetia that would be interesting to explore, like Marquis Marchosias, who hopes to return to heaven one day. The idea of having a demon, especially one that would be of high status, possibly show some regret for their actions is something that fits Charlie's goal perfectly, but no, we just get heckin evil angels and a woobified lucifer.

I think if hazbin explored aspects like that more, the show would be much more interesting, and maybe give it some nuance that current setup doesn't have, but that's just wishful thinking. It's pretty obvious that at the end of day, the heaven and hell setting is just a dollhouse for viv to play yaoi melodrama with her OCs. If you swapped heaven and hell for a generic fantasy setting or even the modern world, not much would change. Maybe it's for the better she didn't touch on those other parts.

This show feels like some DA autists creations brought to life.
On one hand its not a remake or a reboot and originality is something we direly need in todays animation since.
And yet I cant shake the weird cringe of all this. All the characters are over designed and look the same. They are all some form of gay or bi. They are swear like they are edgy teenagers. The whole premise sounds like some high schoolers romp in the arts. Its an indie turned "professional" series but it cant shake its amateurishness.

Well, religions inherently prevent their followers from actually making entertainment that's actually appealing, thus leading the atheists to dominate.

So the religious can only censor because it's the only option they have that allows them to remain pious. Remember, they think entertainment in general is sinful.

If a religious man cannot be religious in the presence of something sinful, he isn't much of a religious person, lol. Faith untested isn't much of a faith.

Shouldn't have started it off with that monologue and their meeting. Seriously it makes her look so fricking moronic and not pretending or being optimistic. Like all of his words are going in one ear and no the other, like her brain cells can't let her process words. Adam doesn't mince words or lie, he straight up tells her exactly what the beginning said. Her whole plan is pointless, heaven couldn't care less about anyone wanting to be better people, she is striving to get people up a place that is most likely shit like down here and everything they say is a lie and they just love killing sinners.

Instead of the show then using this as a spring board to instead of a meal ticket to heaven and instead self improvement as just wanting to be in a better place with the cards you are delt with... no she still tells everyone nope, you try to be good, greatness above awaits. Is she pretending? Is she gaslighting everyone for fun?

Does anyone suspect that Adam is the saddest character in the show that’s merely referring to a past of loveless sex and loneliness when he talks about his sex love to Charlie?
Lucifer and Lilith try to make themselves look good while Adam makes himself look bad and finds satisfaction in finally ending the lives of his own wicked children.

Adam is very mistreated in all expresions of Abrahamic faith. But since he was first man, its ok to abuse him and missrepresent him. Precisely because he is man, he is an acceptable traget.
Because we all asume they can take it.

Yes, because she is misjudged into being a "submissive" model of a woman inferior to Lilith with no agency despite her agency being precisely what kickstarts the abrahamic myth. Which is ironic as hell, since women are the ones who hate her and praise Lilith (who by all means is the mother of rapist, that is also ironic).
And No, because Eve is a victim of the snake, a victim of Adam's "oppression", a constant victim of Adam naivete or such. Adam is the source of all her troubles and all women and weak men most hate him no matter what, because of the patriarchy or some shit justifies your hatred.

While Adam himself is all the bad shit that exists despite him being no different from a child durong genesis.

israelite anon here. A lot of Christians don't understand the actual nuance to Adam and Eve.

            >Eve is submissive to Adam, but this isn't a bad thing because although Eve is not Adam's equal, she is never subjugated nor is she exploited
            >Adam LOVES Eve, enough that he named her out of his passion for her
            >Adam and Eve as a union parallel the positives of marriage as well as becoming closer to God via sex (becoming like Adam Kadmon)
            >Eve's creation occurred second so Adam would sense the need for her and not complain of her existence should they be made at the same time
            >Eve/a wife is the one who gives a reason to keep living
            >Eve's mistake is not born out of a character flaw or her gender, but simply being human
            >when Adam shifts the blame to Eve, God calls him out on it

Jews and Christians generally don’t understand every detail of the stories from God/Jesus. And that’s normal.
Like Isaiah 53 (the tragic story of Christ)
              https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=isaiah+53%3A7-9&version=KJV

There’s been quite a revelations signs coming up. The white horse was Covid-19, we are in the red horseman stage, the black horseman is not yet here, and the green horseman (the Anti-Christ) has not arisen to power. There’s been some israelites that came back from the dead (who haven’t met Christ yet, but have received messages from angels and the God the father) to deliver a message about meeting the real messiah in tribulations, tbe 70th week of Daniel. Although, j should mention that many secular israelites have encountered Jesus before and a famous rabbi who died in the 2000s have met him and proclaimed him to be Jesus (Yehsura specifically in spelling) in his post-death letter.

Things have been ramping up really quickly with Abraham’s unchosen tribes (muslims) alps having unexpected encounters with Christ. So, I’ve been drowning myself into the text and seeking its power to save as many as I can before the time limit.

Speaking as a man who has seen and witnessed many supernatural things, the creatures, demons, and Fallen angels are very boring. But the (seemingly non-human) creatures who are children of Eve do need to be prayed for, as strange as it seems, as Nephilim (gen 6) and beings such as the bizarre Dogman/Reptialians are composed of soul, spirit, and body. We simply are privileged to not be born as outsiders of our original kind. To be more easily gaslighted by fallen angels who take on our form and charming “normals” who enchant us with their words and false acceptances. Cause it is not a war against flesh and blood.

What makes your flesh and blood so special and despised by Lucifer is this. You are the key to bring the israeli messiah, Jesus Christ, to the earth in this generation. I’m not.

Adam gets more shit because he was already in a naturally perfect state so he genuinely made the effort to want to be free from God's parental rule when he took that "powerful" apple from Eve. And then he realized he fricked up hard when his state of being changed and then scrambled afterwards by blaming everything on Eve.

It’s kinda funny how you can look at Cain and realize he’s literally the first canonical yandere in existence. Because of sin, Adam and Eve corrupted the love of the first natural born human. And, have sinners that seek said human to kill him for said love for God.
If Adam and Eve sinned later, Cain wouldn’t be among them.

    > they say how in fact they kill them because "they are afraid of them"?
The reveal that the solution of killing sinners for sport is the one they chose is way worse than the idea that they simply fear potential uprising.

If it was done out of cruel pragmatism than Charlie could at least have the naive hope of changing their minds that it isn't necessary as long as she can fully redeem a sinner. But if the angels are just going out of their way to kill demons because it's fun than potential redemption doesn't matter in the slightest because the angels are portrayed as just as bad if not worse than the people of Hell. There's no convincing them if their entire motive of chopping their time frame in half if because they're bored and want to kill more souls.

Charlie is basically full on coping and tells Vaggie when she asks her what the Angels thought of her idea 'Oh yeah, fine fine.' and is basically hoping she can come up with something or convince the Angels to change their mind by fighting back against the 6-month away extermination. She's probably hoping she can reform Pentious, Angel, Husk etc so she can 'show her work' by the time the extermination comes around and talk-no-jutsu them out of killing everyone.

I'm guessing that everyone finding out that Charlie was told her plan was a non-starter on day-1 will be used as a 'Come on guys! Let's go! This b***h lied to us!' moment, with everyone splitting up.

I'll be honest, The entire sequence in Episode 4 of Angel freaking out when he see's Charlie in the sex dungeon and trying to hurry her out of there, Val mauling Angel in the backroom and then Angel screaming at Charlie for trying to intervene was probably the 'best' sequence out of the first 4 episodes. Only slightly being dampened by the Spider-Porn softcore HMV that followed it in order to meet the 'Musical' quota.

It actually hit everything you need to build tension in a scene like that, Which are the two pillars of 'The Inevitable' and 'The Unknown', It feeds the audience knowledge of 'The Inevitable' because the second you see Charlie enter the Sex-Dungeon [assuming you are a participant in the fandom or have basic pre-knowledge of these characters] you essentially KNOW that this will now end with Valentino mauling Angel Dust the moment Charlie is out of the room [if even], With 'The Unknown' of the situation being what the 'severity' of this mauling will be, How will Charlie react to it, How will Angel Dust respond to it and so forth.

You immediately understand WHY Angel Dust runs over to the door like and tries to make Charlie frick off while their voice is a nervous wreck, Charlie's refusal is irritation and tension raising to the viewer, And when Charlie starts fricking with shit and causes a fire, The weight of 'The Inevitable' and guessing what the severity of 'The Unknown' will be - Becomes almost crushing to the viewer.

I can definitely understand why positive reviewers who watched the first 5 episodes said that 4 was supposedly the turning point where it went from 'passable' to 'good', And if Episode 5 [Which will seemingly be ~Lucifer/Charlie/Alastor-centric] manages to have more sequences like THAT, And not sequences like Charlie arguing with the surfer-bro Adam, Or the British b***h singing about TikTok or whatever, Then I will be PLEASANTLY surprised. And immediately raise my rating of this show.

The only problem I say is in that sequence is Val itself who is extremely one note and uninteresting. Can't feel any tension with him. Would love a sequence where Angel is taken backstage tries to plea, but then Val goes.
      >No... I understand Angel. My Sweetheart.
He grabs Angel on the cheek and caresses it.
      >It was out of your control. I know that. I am not angry.
Angel is surprised. Relieved and then blurts out.
      >Oh! OH Thank you Val, I promise I will never-
And then Val puts more strength into his hand holding Angel
      >I am not angry YET.
And then falls silence as he grabs Angel's head with a second hand.
      >But if this kind of disturbance happens AGAIN... I will be forced to punish you. And you know how much it would pain me to hurt you again don't you? Are you going to do this to me? Force me to do something like this?
Angel is silent and then quietly whispers
      >N-no...
      Then Val smiles
      >Good. Remember. You are ALWAYS welcome at my side. I love you.

I feel like that would make Val FAR more terrifying. Not him throwing a fit, but being a calm and manipulative abuser and the implication of pain that he will bring onto Angel if something like this is fricked up again. And I would also remove the contract thing, maybe as showing lesser intelligence on Val, but also his magnetism and how much he is able to pull Angel back.

        >And I would also remove the contract thing

Because then you would understand that Val while not very smart because he DIDN'T make a contract is VERY convincing at making people stay with him. He has charm and charisma to make people not want to leave him despite how much he hurts them.

Viv was pissed that her furbait took off and she scrapped lots of plans for Loona. So she nurfed her in the later seasons. It's gone to the point that the Anons want to give her own show and take her away from Viv as their own piece of properity, like Snootgame.

          So these are both true?

Loona is the honestly best warning sign in early season 1 for where the show would go. I get they wanted to make her less edgy for character's sake but series to pilot she feels like they sanded her down so much she's a completely different character. Like, by episode 8 I feel like I'm watching a 2000s teen drama whenever she's on screen.

Different anon, that's not really what SHE should be doing. Being a prop for Blitzo to look like a better person. He should be actively trying to improve myself for her. Not make her learn to love him for being a dick. She's mellowed out for HIS sake, and they're barely meeting half way about it.

            Anonymous

That anon here. You could still largely do that dynamic better if she were more confident and thinking she knows it all.
That kind of dynamic is honestly better that way.

              Anonymous

She wants a show where Blitzo gets everything he deserves, the good end, without putting in the work to improve. I keep giving Viv to much credit thinking that she'll actually go into her characters suffering loneliness and regret in a real way.
IE: the spoiler where Octavia refuses to forgive Stolas and we see the story continue were we live with that outcome.
But knowing that Viv will change shit because of fan backlash, I could see that whole scene being cut out because she can't commit to those choices.

    Just finished watching ep 3 & 4
    >the music in 3 is awful and the songs are like jumpscares that just happen at random with no build up (Carmilla did not need to sing that shit)
    >Sir Pent and his eggs are the best part of the ep and i love them
    >Zestial sounds like a poorly written Shakespeare character and it was really hard to understand what he was even saying because his voice sounds so....low? i needed subtitles just to know wtf he was waffling about
    >i ended up liking Velvette more then i expected because she basically just called Carmilla & Vestial busted and old and that was funny
    >Vaggie's singing voice is mediocre
    >Charlie is less interesting then she was in the pilot & even more useless
    >Valentino's moth wings are cool and i like his clothes
    >Poison was "eh" and the song with Angel and Husk was ok
    >i can't see Husk & Angel's relationship as romantic, they fit better as a mentor and younger man with problems dynamic
    >Nifty is great
Overall, these eps were ok. I want more of the Vs now since they're the most interesting so far.

They took too long to make the series and shit changed. I guess they got bored of the concept of redeeming people and wanted to focus on something more fun like heaven vs hell or the execs picked that concept because it's more accessible.

Either way, that giant retcon lore expo dump at the start was really really weak, even if the rest of the 4 episodes were okay.

It's hard to make a show about heaven and hell when you have no system of morality.

Sinners sin in the most stereotypical "murder, sex, swearing, but of course Viv doesn't REALLY feel like those are bad. Which is good, because they don't want a show about actually bad people, but a show about her quirky horny OCs. But that leaves the premise of the show weird, they're trying to rehabilitate sinners, but they don't even know what sin and virtue is, let alone question how Charlie has such a moral compass when she's hell royalty.

And Angels are basically the same buttholes as demons, not even bad in a different way. It's all quirky safe-edgy buttholes all the way down, she literally can't write anything else.

You know how people were annoyed Star Wars episode 1 A Phantom Menace had all these space politics in it?

Hazbin Hotel surprisingly has a lot of hell politics in it.

Episode 1: Charlie and Adam negotiations
Episode 2: Setting up how Alastor and Vox interact with each other
Episode 3: Politics meeting with Zestial, Carmine, Velvette, and Alastor
Episode 4: not really a politics episode, since it's all about Angel Dust. Charlie vs Valentino is more personal business of Charlie not wanting to see someone she knows get hurt

Episode 5, which is Dad Beat Dad, seems like a personal issues episode for Charlie, but since they're rulers, there's potential politics

Episode 6, Welcome To Heaven, sounds like a politics episode, showing more of heaven.

Episode 7, Hello Rosie, is a potential politics episode, since Rosie is an overlord.

Episode 8: Finale, If they're fighting against Heaven, that's more of an action episode fueled by politics, but there's potential politics with how Charlie and Heaven resolve things.

I'm not shocked at the said cartoon that is trying to rehabilitate corrupt souls to get into heaven is all about politics. It would be weird if it wasn't politics.

The problem with George Lucas's politics is that he couldn't dumb down the language to save his life. He just made everything overly complicated.

When in reality; he could've easily done so by: Making the republic and the separatists both have issues, make the jedi council actually have corrupt individuals who have fricked up views, and then show that there's some redeeming qualities for the Sith.

        Anonymous

        >make the jedi council actually have corrupt individuals who have fricked up views
Wouldn't that make them NOT Jedi by definition?
Idk dick about Star Wars but I thought the point was that Jedi are light side/good and the other dudes are dark side/bad. Corruption would, by definition, be bad so automatically other dudes and not Jedi, right?

        Anonymous

        >I'm not shocked at the said cartoon that is trying to rehabilitate corrupt souls to get into heaven is all about politics. It would be weird if it wasn't politics.

I see a few people expecting more of a slice of life show focused on the hotel residents, and then getting annoyed at the focus on the politicians and angel war.

personally i don't mind the politics, but i hope introducing all these politicians has a payoff somewhere down the line, and where the hotel fits into these politics, since a lot of screentime is being spent on setting up the politics.

One of the trailer pictures show lots of people defending the hotel, so maybe the existence of the hotel, among the people of hell, turns from being a joke to being something important to them, whether it's personally or politically

viv liked a thread on how it's not only "heaven bad, hell good", so maybe that's her intention

do you think the later episodes will follow through that intention well?

      Anonymous

I'm waiting for the Heaven episode to pass judgement on that.
What I'm hoping for is that the storybook intro turns out to have some pretty big lies of omission in it, like after Hell started to get big Lucifer and Lilith tried to attack Heaven and after they failed the Exterminations were put into place. So it's less "Hell can't ever hope rise against Heaven because we're paranoid." and more "Hell try to attack Heaven a second time."

I think Sera and Emily will both be reasonable, but Sera fully believes the Exterminations are a necessary evil and Emily is mostly just Charlie if Lucifer didn't get kicked out of Heaven.

It's mediocre, which is honestly worse. The plot is going full-speed into heaven is really gonna kill everyone and do it early, Exterminators who were the big bads are already shown to be killable in the SECOND episode already. The voice acting is subpar if you're used to hearing the old Vas and the animation isn't made by spindlehorse, but Bento Box, the studio who does a lot of cheapo Fox network animation shows. But the animation isn't godawful, just a noticeable downgrade.

It's serviceable but it's not what it was hyped up to be after years of longing for it to exist. I'm legit only in it for Vox and Alastor porn.

Owning Husker and Nifty (and every other unnamed soul he owns) as slaves is already unforgivably bad. Doesn’t matter if they entered “contracts,” they’re his slaves. They have to work for him, forever, and meet any demand he makes of them, and he doesn’t pay any of them outside of one favor he granted a long time ago.

They simply work for him. With Husk it’s outright told to you that he’s simply repaying a debt to Alastor after a bet. Working as a bartender to repay your debt is not the same as being a sex slave who can be raped at a moments notice.

Until you find out what crimes Husk and Nifty are guilty of. Al is the type of Tumblr OC who only would commit a crime if it was against someone worse than him.
