I just finished this show, I wonder if they intended to get a season 2, wanted it to be a miniseries or intentionally left it an open ending.

That's why the show went nowhere every episode until the last 5 mins when they had to drop something on the audience in order to get them to come back. And ultiimately the show ended frustrating and unfinished.
