Hey?

Hey Cinemaphile I lost a friend close to me almost 2 months and haven't been dealing with it well.

Are there any shows and/or comics that deal with a sudden loss in terms of death of a character or cast member that was commonly around? Maybe something not action/super hero related. Or a good media that can help with dealing with this type of grief?

Gif not really related but I feel the game does deal with grief

... man, now that I'm scrambling my head i can't think of shows about loss
in any other context i could probably bring up like 4 incidentally but actively trying somehow makes it harder

Wish there was something on this, I feel like it would be an amazing thing to explore in a TV show, for kids or even adult oriented shows that aren't action based. One of my friends made a tribute to his childhood friend that I don't think made it past middle school, I think subjects like theses can help people out.

I'm 27 this is actually my first time experiencing talking to someone regularly close to my age then next day...
I feel this is part of being an adult just of all people it had to be this person, out of nowhere, they were sick but not sure of what...

Sorry anon for your Lost I hope you'll get better soon and Learn to accept what happened
For a show I really don't think there's any cartoon about but there is several anime about this topic like anohana, your lie in April , erased
Again sorry for your Lost and hope your doing well

I actually do appreciate it a lot, I'm gonna look one of these up and look into it this week, I appreciate your kindness so much

I actually just started last week, that only does so much

Don't mention it, if I can add 1 more advice it would be finding or connecting with other friends, I understand that's building new relationships when you older are harder but sometimes they are the things that can help you move on and appreciate New things in Life
Don't try to hate your self for being sad that's normal for us humans, accept his death and cherish your memories with him, I'm sure he'll want you to be happy in your life
Sorry for sounding Corny as Frick but I had the same experience years ago and I wished someone told me this at that time.
have a great day and I hope the best for you

sorry OP. I just finished reading Spider-Man Blue, which is partly Peter working through the death of Gwen Stacy years after the fact. More appropriate would probably be Do A Powerbomb or Murder Falcon by Daniel Warren Johnson which are about dealing with grief over the death of a loved one and finding meaning and joy despite depression respectively. Also, I admittedly haven't seen it, but a youtuber recently highlighted Buffy the vampire Slayer for doing a good job with this with the episode The Body where Buffy's mom dies suddenly.

I remember reading Solanin when I was a kid, it definitely gives you that feeling of going on in life without the one you love

Our friendship was long distance and we had plans... I think I can handle it but that bit of obsession trying to understand and getting in touch with her family might throw me off for a while. I feel maybe she was prepared or had accepted it already looking at the conversations we had...
I feel this past two weeks I've had more people help me out through this than the entirety of July. I'm so appreciative of this right now because my entire year has been fricked and my biggest issues were people even acknowledging my stress when being vocal and not making it worse

Life is complicated but the good vastly outweighs the bad

Thank you, think it's really my enthusiasm for my future dropped drastically, like I'm going to find joy but my ambitions aren't as important to me like it used to be

Honestly Silent Hill 2 helped me cope with my dad dying a couple of weeks before I played it, I came for spooks and left miserable but at the same time slightly hopeful

Horror games actually scare me unlike movies, I'm gonna give it a try if I can find someone to be with me when I play

this is legit a good suggestion although it's Cinemaphile . I forgot about this one.

The only show I can think of that does this is Gurren Lagann

I've avoided this show for a while but I'll actually start it up because I know it's crazy and I liked Edgerunners and the Star Wars short

Clone High, episode 10. Despite being a spoof of shows that trot out new characters just to kill them off for quick drama fodder, JFK's voice actor portrays his grief over the loss of his friend with such sincerity that it might help give some emotional catharsis, even if only a little.

The older Gainax anime Nadia Secret of Blue Water and Gunbuster are good for this too. And recently Trigger's Dynazenon did this really well too I though.

    Sorry for your loss, anon.

A Monster Calls is a good movie about a boy losing his mother to a terminal illness. It's more about his grief and fear as she succumbs to her cancer instead of him coping after she's gone. (It's based on a book, which is more aimed at kids, but the movie is more all-ages.) The premise is similar to the comic I Kill Giants, but more downbeat and not actiony.

Astro City "Confession" and "The Nearness of You" --superhero genre, though.

The Big Hero 6 movie is about grief, but it's a Disney superhero movie, so it's too bright and comedic for my taste when I'm actually trying to process grief.

I actually own a large version of I Kill Giants, it's really heartwarming, I'm gonna check out this movie soon

I needed this, it's heartwarming, thank you.

Episode 8 of the midnight gospel

I'm gonna check these out, even if super hero stuff I was just wondering if there was ever a media that felt down to earth or real. But this won't stop it from taking my interest

Don't mention it, if I can add 1 more advice it would be finding or connecting with other friends, I understand that's building new relationships when you older are harder but sometimes they are the things that can help you move on and appreciate New things in Life

I see you'rr a Square fan so I'm going to suggest Xenogears and the Kingdom Hearts all in one collection. There's a really beautiful part in 3 where you end up in heaven watching people pass away, and KH4 seems to be about death. Xenogears has one of the most beautiful stories I've seen in a JRPG but I can't give anything away. Final Fantas 8 too. Everyone's a war orphan and Squall is afraid of losing people and it's all about how he copes with loss.

Actual movies though, Toy Story 2, Up, and Disney's Tarzan. Raimi Spiderman 1 and 2 and Shin Masked Rider for live action. Twin Peaks The Return... which might seem out there but just trust me.
