I actually noticed before that Hercules comes across every race throughout show and each of them represents their stereotypes. So my fren and I made up a theory that Herc was responsible for establishing all these stereotypes since he's still around in the 90's and likely told people about the one black guy who was imprisoned and left his baby mama to raise their kid alone.
It wasn't. Hercules was much comfier, and Xena was just a derivate of it.
Even serious moments were better in Hercules, the death of his family, Iolaos losing his etc.
I think of that one episode where Herc meets up with an old friend who is about to have his first child but learns he is about to die and is conflicted about murdering the town's gang.
Climbed a lighting or rigging tower of some type on set in China and accidently slipped off. Ended up in a coma until they pulled the plug. Fricking tragic and a complete waste

Same reason no one gave a shit about Janeway on voyager or Sisko. They are well written characters with flaws and relatable human traits. They're not cookie cutter forced diversity for the sake of inclusion
She gets a pass because Lawless was VERY physical woman, so action scenes with her looks very dynamic, which is something todays frumpy millenial cosmopolitan women with jello wrists are simply unable to emulate. We had perfect examples recently - Anakin vs Ashoka and Daredevil vs Echo, peak embarrassment, where the difference between male actors and girlbosses was never as obvious as in those ones.
Character wise she gets a pass because she is a murderer who seeks redemption, and she struggles hard throughout the show
I don't mind Stonk Females when they are in hot little outfits and doing the splits. Most modern shows and movies have their strong women dressed like Puritans. Biggest misfire in entertainment history was Xena getting picked up by network TV instead of HBO or Cinemax
