That's why it's considered a scam, because their profits are coming from the groups of "anyone else".
Granted you have to be an ignorant mongoloid to buy into it, but both sides of a shitty deal can be wrong.

No one considers it a scam unless you think you deserve that person money. You don’t understand this.
Reverse mortgages pay out the equity you have in the home. You can refi out of it but the intended loan is that the bank gets the house when you move or die and you get monthly payments from the equity in the home to live and not worry about shit. It’s not for everybody. Just because you personally don’t benefit doesn’t mean it’s a bad product.

Or people who aren’t leaving a penny to their kids. And also you have to have the home at least mostly paid for so a lot of people won’t have the opportunity.
HELOCS probably won’t be a thing in a few years either. Even Wells Fargo is ending their program.

You don’t have 600,000 dollars. Your home is worth 600,000 dollars. You leverage the equity of the house you own against the banks interest in owning your home. They give you 600,000 dollars and when you die or decide to move, you refinance the home and sell or don’t care because you’re dead. It’s optional and know one is forcing you to do anything so don’t get so upset about optional products.

Your grandmother cried for help and that makes you hate her? You're the epitome of what old people hate about young people.

Yes, because she comes from a worthless and spoiled generation that opened the floodgates to everything wrong happening now. And instead of trying to combat the degeneracy she shuts her eyes and ears and pretends everything is fine. Pretends people call to give her free money. She and her baby boomer son can go to the lowest depths of hell. For betrayers. Betrayers to family and nation for temporary gain. I'll spit on their graves happily.

You honestly need to be a real bastard, or your child and absolute c**t, to dedicate enough planning to it.

This. Most boomers inherited vast amounts of wealth from their parents who lived through world wars and the depression and basically saved every penny they ever earned. I know I basically grew up poor and then when my grandparents all passed away my parents started making a lot of expensive purchases with inheritance and acting like it was all a product of their hard work. Most will then burn through generations of wealth and then leave their kids with nothing.

Normies don't understand how interest works. My sister and her husband got a 7 year loan on a 40,000$ vehicle and wound up paying about 130-140k.

It’s not like shaming someone for a bad financial move 7 years ago is a smart thing to do. Really shitty, actually.

It wasn't shaming. She was to sick to work and i was going over her finances for her and saw my brother in law had got a 7 year finance deal on a car that she owned that wasn't even worth 5k, yet she had paid over 100k for it.

Part (or all) of the way they make money is you paying interest, if you pay it off early they get less interest.

I was in middle school at the time, so I don’t know what I was supposed to do about it. My aunt was in charge of the proceedings and she’s definitely moronic, though.

That's the price your uncle was willing to pay for having someone have sex with him in his old age.

They were married for a long time and genuinely in love. She watched over him diligently as he slipped into dementia and it was clear that it broke her heart. Her family turned out to be garbage, but she was a good person.
