His power is he flies by internal explosions. They have similar powers expressed in similar ways. Her first demonstration is bsically a running version of Cannonball's usual schtick.
Then he has no idea what a mary sue at all. Negasonic's moodiness in of itself wouldn't qualify anyway, but as it is, it's treated as a source of comedy mocked by Deadpool during the film, and she comes to like him in a backhanded sort of way by later.
Because Negasonic Teenage Warhead is a ridiculous and cool name so she belongs in Deadpool, but her powers in the comics are boring as shit so they gave her Canonball's powers which are much more cinematic

They really liked the absurd name and wanted to use it for a teenage sidekick character, but wanted Cannonball's powers instead. In fact it was a strange exchange between Fox and Disney where Ego the Living Planet, technically under Fox, was allowed to be used in GOTG 2, in return the Deadpool filmmakers could use the Negasonic name but completely change the character and powers.
