The implication is that 2000's webcomic era internet artists bought Wacoms because it's what 2000 era internet artists were expected to buy. They are overpriced but they were the only game back then. Savage Dragon as just "The Dragon" debuted in Megaton #3 before becoming the cop we all know him as over at Image. Cop Dragon died permanently, which is why his son is the main character now. Savage Dragon is a vanity project. No one outside of a handful of old Xers and Millennials even reads it. I imagine that's why he turned it into an adults-only porn comic, so little fricks were given that it didn't dent sales at all.
There's a plot point where Dragon's blood can cure people of stuff but then they explode. When they still don't know that they give some to Dragon so he can get his powers back, which works as he manages to finish off the main villain of that arc >I might just make it out of this alive

No you're mixing his moronic storylines up. Some shit happened and Dragon got depowered, but Dragon's blood and also Malcolm's blood can be used to give people their powers, but for whatever reason Dragon's body couldn't withstand having his powers anymore so if he had the powers for too long it'd kill him, so he took a risk and injected himself with one of their blood (don't remember whose who the frick cares) and fought the bad guy with the plan being to try to do it quick and then use the power-removing drug that exists in their world to remove the powers before he died, but then what you said happened, where he said he might just survive then exploded as a punchline.
It became a recurring plot point that Malcolm could basically just save anyone from any injury including straight up death if he was fast enough by injecting them with his blood so they'd get his powers and heal, then depowering then afterward (this even led to the storyline where a giant demon monster literally raped Malcolm's child wife to death in an alley in front of their kids, but she got better). At some point Larsen actually realized that was fricking moronic because it was like DBZ levels of nothing mattering anymore because it was an instant solution to any problem. His solution to that being too good of a solution was to introduce a plot point where covid-19 interacted with his blood and made people explode if they mixed, so now he can't use his instant healing solution anymore because of covid.

He's right! And you know why those art pages sell for for more? Because comic is a visual medium and people like shit that looks cool.
Imagine being a writer that sniff his own farts so hard he can't wrap his head around that fact.
They wouldn't need to for a very long time. There's easily over a hundred issues before you get anything that you can't post on a Christian imageboard. Like even if we assume they do a thread daily, that's still about a third of a year until they hit lewd.
It starts off as fairly run of the mill 90s fare. Larsen's art is honestly pretty great for a lot of the comic, in my opinion. He's sort of like Jim Lee to me in that they both feel like what the 90s was generally trying and failing to do. Of course your mileage may vary on how much you like that. There are some extremely dumb moments here an there but I'd argue the bulk of the comic's first 100 issues are pretty much just 90s being the 90s. Around issue 75 or so we get a diversion into a Kirby-esque world that could suck or be fun based on your POV. I forget exactly when things really went off the rails. The writing fell apart before the art, though, as I recall.

Some shit happened and Dragon got depowered, but Dragon's blood and also Malcolm's blood can be used to give people their powers, but for whatever reason Dragon's body couldn't withstand having his powers anymore so if he had the powers for too long it'd kill him, so he took a risk and injected himself with one of their blood (don't remember whose who the frick cares) and fought the bad guy with the plan being to try to do it quick and then use the power-removing drug that exists in their world to remove the powers before he died, but then what you said happened, where he said he might just survive then exploded as a punchline.
It became a recurring plot point that Malcolm could basically just save anyone from any injury including straight up death if he was fast enough by injecting them with his blood so they'd get his powers and heal, then depowering then afterward (this even led to the storyline where a giant demon monster literally raped Malcolm's child wife to death in an alley in front of their kids, but she got better). At some point Larsen actually realized that was fricking moronic because it was like DBZ levels of nothing mattering anymore because it was an instant solution to any problem. His solution to that being too good of a solution was to introduce a plot point where covid-19 interacted with his blood and made people explode if they mixed, so now he can't use his instant healing solution anymore because of covid.

The last few years of SD are basically made to order, there's maybe a few thousand sales when it comes out and it's a regular group. It doesn't hit bargain bind because there's barely any published anymore.
Older Image fair is quarter/dollar bin fodder but that's more because the massive amounts of issues that used to be published, even "good" comics are often relegated to the bins just because there's more than demand.
If you're trying to track a correlation between Larsen going nuts and issues getting on discount it's hard to pinpoint because, again, there's not that many of the recent, crazy issues even out there.
Depends on when it was released and what kind of store. Newer stores that don't emphasize back issues, likely don't have them unless they were ordering a lot of Savage Dragon for their store. Older stores that deal with back issues, may have a chance.

Some shit happened and Dragon got depowered, but Dragon's blood and also Malcolm's blood can be used to give people their powers, but for whatever reason Dragon's body couldn't withstand having his powers anymore so if he had the powers for too long it'd kill him, so he took a risk and injected himself with one of their blood (don't remember whose who the frick cares) and fought the bad guy with the plan being to try to do it quick and then use the power-removing drug that exists in their world to remove the powers before he died, but then what you said happened, where he said he might just survive then exploded as a punchline.
It became a recurring plot point that Malcolm could basically just save anyone from any injury including straight up death if he was fast enough by injecting them with his blood so they'd get his powers and heal, then depowering then afterward (this even led to the storyline where a giant demon monster literally raped Malcolm's child wife to death in an alley in front of their kids, but she got better). At some point Larsen actually realized that was fricking moronic because it was like DBZ levels of nothing mattering anymore because it was an instant solution to any problem. His solution to that being too good of a solution was to introduce a plot point where covid-19 interacted with his blood and made people explode if they mixed, so now he can't use his instant healing solution anymore because of covid.

It starts off as fairly run of the mill 90s fare. Larsen's art is honestly pretty great for a lot of the comic, in my opinion. He's sort of like Jim Lee to me in that they both feel like what the 90s was generally trying and failing to do. Of course your mileage may vary on how much you like that. There are some extremely dumb moments here an there but I'd argue the bulk of the comic's first 100 issues are pretty much just 90s being the 90s. Around issue 75 or so we get a diversion into a Kirby-esque world that could suck or be fun based on your POV. I forget exactly when things really went off the rails. The writing fell apart before the art, though, as I recall.

The older I get, the more I appreciate Greg Capullo. When I was in my younger years, he was just "the guy who wasn't Todd McFarlane" and I couldn't stand his Spawn art. But it turns out, it was more Todd inking his art to look like his own and Greg is very good at cartooning.
He's got a really cool and consistently creative style, I loved his work on Batman even if the run itself didn't turn out so great.
Of course Snyder's writing wasn't even nearly as garbage as Todd's but it was still a pretty damn lame run. I hope Greg gets one legit good comic done at some point.

The last few years of SD are basically made to order, there's maybe a few thousand sales when it comes out and it's a regular group. It doesn't hit bargain bind because there's barely any published anymore.

Older Image fair is quarter/dollar bin fodder but that's more because the massive amounts of issues that used to be published, even "good" comics are often relegated to the bins just because there's more than demand.
If you're trying to track a correlation between Larsen going nuts and issues getting on discount it's hard to pinpoint because, again, there's not that many of the recent, crazy issues even out there.

Stuff from late 90s: Hard to find (by 1999/2000 the estimated orders go below 20,000 copies) but you may likely come across it
Stuff from 00s: Harder to find because estimated orders go below 10,000
