So why did Feige go full moron after Endgame? He's been stacking up a big pile of bad decisions for the last few years. It looks like it's starting to bite Marvel in the ass, too, considering Thor underperformed.
This space after Endgame was likely left intentionally open and ambiguous because this is 'post-plan', its room to figure out what they want to do next based on how interested people still are in the MCU and which way the wind is blowing.
The REAL thing fricking them up isn't covid, its the Disney+ shows. They are too rushed to be good, and unlike Agents of Shield they are tightly coupled to the movies. So bad Disney+ shows make it feel like the movies have dropped in quality too, because from the perspective of the audience it is all blurring together.
This is a bad thing. Some executives thought there was money to be made with an endless deluge of MCU all the time, but we NEED breaks between them to build anticipation and interest. The MCU being a thing that never ends and never pauses is just exhausting. And its not doing them any favors.
The actual problem is the "good guys" have caused over 2/3rds the conflicts in the films and shows at this point and are even starting to just straight up turn villain and people are sick of heroes fricking around and getting people killed. DC was rightly mocked for that shit after Man of Murder decimated an entire fricking city fighting Zod.
I feel like this is intentional, though. We KNOW they are setting up for Thunderbolts soon, so if public opinion as against the existing heroes that makes the sales pitch of an all-new, "better" team of heroes to take up the mantle of the Avengers pack much more punch. If the heroes were keeping everything running smoothly, the Thunderbolts would never fly.
Hmmm. Its also occurs to me that Zeus made a very specific call out during Thor 4 that the name of his weapon was Thunderbolt. Thats probably not related, but it is conspicuous.
