People had been exposed to Ultimate Nick Fury for seven years when Iron Man came out. 616 Fury wasn't an very used character by then (not that normalgays read comic books). The last defining factor is that Samuel L. Jackson was an charismatic and established A-list star.

The reason you cast minorities in roles where ethnicity doesn’t matter is because the source material 9/10 is almost entirely white for no other reason than laziness, because they just didn’t think to portray people of color. How do you determine whether an adaptation is low quality and vastly altered or high quality and vastly altered? Roger Rabbit uses 2 lines of dialogue from the book and changes all the characters, and Roger isn't a cuck that tries to frame Eddie for murder, but it's a fantastic adaptation.

And then Wesker turns to the teacher and tells her his kid is going to take a day off and the teacher just smiles in terror and says ok.
It’s all about establishing how Umbrella controls the entire city and Wesker is so high up the food chain that just throwing his name around has all the adults who aren’t Umbrella executives shit their pants.

If you watch the entire show, it does tie-in directly to the games. It’s still a bad show for several reasons but that’s not one of them. The weird thing is how it’s rated for adults for violence and gore even though there’s barely any of it to warrant that high rating IMO, but the writing is blatantly aimed at younger teens who like shit like Riverdale. Hence all the teen drama shit.

meh, the 2036 timeline is the action/apocalyptic one and I kind of prefer the other timeline. you can watch a bit of the first episode and decide for yourself, but from what I've seen (watched the first three episodes), the action seems to be "main character needs to go to X place, meets a group of survivors that can help her, something goes bad, we see a monster, she escapes and arrives at X place but now she needs to go to Y place, meets a group of survivors" you get the point

There's no reason to even find that statement offensive, it's just what it is. If someone changed the character names in RE5 and called the game "African Safari X" or something, you would never in a trillion years think "hmm, this reminds me of those old Resident Evil games." It went from a sci-fi horror series about undead zombies and monster lab experiments to a clear reboot that changed the gameplay and shifted towards virtually human enemies, and then another reboot with any random thing like mold creatures or even werewolves as the basic enemies. They're so loosely connected between eras that you can split them up into separate series by trilogy, which many people do when discussing them. >RE1-3 >RE4-6 >RE7 and 8, soon 9
The only thing connecting them under the name Resident Evil is each new game will have a file you read that superficially references the name of something from the old games. I'm not defending the show, I'm talking about the game series. The idea of Resident Evil without zombies doesn't even make sense. That's what its whole identity was until it got rebooted. It's "that zombie game." To try to make an adaptation that encompasses every era of the games, rather than making either an adaptation of the original games, the trilogy, or the more recent trilogy as separate things, would be moronic and clunky, impossible to keep a stable theme and tone for, and the games themselves don't even try to do that.

How do you determine whether an adaptation is low quality and vastly altered or high quality and vastly altered? Roger Rabbit uses 2 lines of dialogue from the book and changes all the characters, and Roger isn't a cuck that tries to frame Eddie for murder, but it's a fantastic adaptation.

meh, the 2036 timeline is the action/apocalyptic one and I kind of prefer the other timeline. you can watch a bit of the first episode and decide for yourself, but from what I've seen (watched the first three episodes), the action seems to be "main character needs to go to X place, meets a group of survivors that can help her, something goes bad, we see a monster, she escapes and arrives at X place but now she needs to go to Y place, meets a group of survivors" you get the point

My mother for example watched the entire show yesterday, she told me she remembers liking the mila films, and she thought maybe this would be some kind of remake or something, she even thought the lickers and cerberus were references to those movies. For people like my mother, who think resident evil is female protagonist trying to survive in the apocalypse, the show will probably be okay.

Lance Reddick is not a great actor. He's a terrible actor with literally zero range which is why he has to be limited to small parts. Turning him into the charismatic evil blond Wesker is one of the worst casting decisions ever. Almost as bad as that asiatic in Cowboy Bebop.

There's no reason to even find that statement offensive, it's just what it is. If someone changed the character names in RE5 and called the game "African Safari X" or something, you would never in a trillion years think "hmm, this reminds me of those old Resident Evil games." It went from a sci-fi horror series about undead zombies and monster lab experiments to a clear reboot that changed the gameplay and shifted towards virtually human enemies, and then another reboot with any random thing like mold creatures or even werewolves as the basic enemies. They're so loosely connected between eras that you can split them up into separate series by trilogy, which many people do when discussing them.

It's "that zombie game." To try to make an adaptation that encompasses every era of the games, rather than making either an adaptation of the original games, the trilogy, or the more recent trilogy as separate things, would be moronic and clunky, impossible to keep a stable theme and tone for, and the games themselves don't even try to do that.

They changed and evolved between 0 and Code Veronica, with zombies always present as the side effect. Different developments of hunters, tyrants, and other B.O.W.s, but now it's not even an evolution. Instead of creating new virus strains and making new monsters in a style that's aesthetically and thematically recognizable, things you'd expect from a sci-fi series, now they travel the world to discover special mold and parasites that basically act like magic and allow them to do anything
