Yes. I grew up in NYC, it’s a very liberal place. A lot of the girls I grew up with buy into it. They believe it in a mostly performative way-very few of them are in open relationships, would date a trans person, or go by different pronouns.
For the most part, these women grew up wealthy and had a stable home life. I do know a couple of people my age(mid twenties) that are trans and have had some serious mental health issues though.
