The decline between seasons 8 and 9 is extremely noticeable and it only gets worse from there, and it's not long before the good, let alone great episodes are few and far between. This idea makes me cringe. I hate it when creators try to criticize their audience for rightly calling out the series for losing its original soul. Recently could see with James Rolfe and "changing his shirt" and also with Saints Row, which resulted in the end of their company. It feels like they're just saying they can't take any criticism and don't want to work to appeal to the fans who got them any success in the first place. But, they make this type of content because they've probably realized their old fans are gone. Nobody who liked the Simpsons from S1-S8 actually still watches it. So they're instead just preaching to the choir, making fun of people with taste with the remaining dregs who tune in to the new episodes--appealing to their fallacious sense that novelty is quality.
I watched the Simpsonsland segment and it's nothing like that, I think they didn't intend to have any message other than maybe The Simpsons have become a soulless product, Lisa even acknowledges that the show isn't good anymore. The whole segment is actually just an exercise to use old jokes in a new, different context.

I like the first four games. Anyone who hates 3 and 4 are usually the kind of fans that started with 2 and think that's the only good game in the series.
It's mainly secondary zoomers who only like the most popular entries that they heard the most things about on social media, and the loud minority of elitist bitter boomers who hated the fact that SH3&4 went in different directions when it came to story, music, atmosphere, and theming. They don't want a game about a teenage girl who goes through her own coming of age story arc and deals with family issues, or a game about a lonely antisocial guy trying to stop an insane cultist who opens portals to other realities in a motel. No. They want every single entry to be exactly like SH2. They want every single game to be about a generic le-traumatic man coming to the cultist town in order to deal with his personal demons from the past related to killing his own wife/daughter/mother/sister, etc, etc. There's a reason why all Silent Hill games made after SH4 were obsessively trying to copy SH2 instead of focusing on having their own identity. That's also a reason why Konami hired an outsourced studio (for the thousand time because the original Jap team that made the first 4 SH games doesn't exist since 2006 because Konami disbanded them) to make the SH2 Remake, instead of starting with remaking SH1 first.

this is why the simpsons are so historically important because the show very subtly and unconsciously (not purposefully) illustrates and documents the decline of america and that's also why the rich ruler elite and their "progressive" state worshipping sycophants hate the first few seasons and try so hard to convince you the new seasons are good because in their belief system past means bad and present means good and future means better. in their thinking it is impossible that something older can be better than something new. it literally blows their minds.
