No, you're correct. Season 1 was kino until the last episode which was dogshit, then Season 2 was pure dogshit until its last episode where the ending was kino.
Season 2 was good.
R2 isn't as good as the first season, but it's not awful. The best of the series is still the full episodes, and any part where Suzaku gets his ass kicked and starts crying.

R2's first half is fine, even though the timeslot change made the show a lot more kiddy-friendly and they basically had to reset the entire status quo to the very beginning of the story to bring new viewers up to speed.
The last 10 episodes of R2 are a total fricking trainwreck, though. Watching it live with Cinemaphile in the summer of 2008 was wild. You had shitposters who were just enjoying the chaos and fanboys who were jumping through hoops to try to defend it and the shtflinging kept getting worse every week lmao
That was the last series I watched in its entirety livestreamed with Cinemaphile. My favorite part was how mad the translator groups were when the second Project Ali ED dropped. And the .gif of the "alternate ending" that showed Lelouch on the cart through clever editing and convinced every homosexual that he really was alive.
Nothing unless you are extremely bored, everything after R2 is truly awful. The other stuff doesn't even have funny things, like the Royal Hotline.

Code Geass is almost the opposite of LOGH. LOGH is substance first but weak on presentation. Code Geass is a wild ride carried by its presentation but it’s lean on substance. Biggest similarity is a wide cast of characters in a war that is underlined by ideological differences. Code Geass is recommended, but I can’t tell you if you’d like it or not.

In Geass? The rest is kind of whatever. If you want to get back into it you can try the movie canon which retells the series slightly differently and then adds a new chapter after the end (kind of R3) but for the most part the extended canon is whatever.
