HOLY KINO. Also why wasn't there a MAXX/Spawn crossover?

HOLY KINO.
Also why wasn't there a MAXX/Spawn crossover? Their are both 90's Image antiheroes who are also dirty hobos living in a filthy alley, you'd think it's a no-brainer...

I’ve never understood what the Maxx himself is.
Are those his teeth? Is he even human?

It’s a mask, with kind of a tribal design.

It's a mask made from a lampshade. Not his teeth.

They actually play with that idea some, because for a while you think he might be a rabbit.

The Maxx is a rabbit, Burlapin is the homeless bum. Just like how Sarah's Maxx is a horse, but Norbert is the bum.

I had a crush on Norbert Maxx.

He had a cuple other crossovers with Savage Dragon for like 2 panels, Gen13, and a couple other lesser known books, but I don't think he ever met Spawn.

I think they briefly met in Altered Image but that's it. Uncle Todd was probably jealous of the quality writing.

    I'd much rather see a MAXX/Akibaranger crossover

Both of them feature parody superheroes who only fight in their imagination. The difference is that The Maxx can get pretty dark while Akibaranger stays comedic all the way through.

Don't get me wrong celebrity deathmatch, wonder showzen, daria, beavis and butthead, and clone high were great but the maxx, the head, aeon flux, and pretty much all of liquid television were extremely kino as well and deserve ackowledgement.

I disagree with both Aeon Flux and Liquid Television.
Liquid TV was OK, but it was just a bunch of random animations they pulled together, and more than a few were pre-existing animations they just licensed to fill air. At best it's halfway entertaining to watch the first time when intoxicated. It doesn't hold up on even the 2nd re-watch. Case in point of how forgettable it was, the creator of Summer Camp Island did a short animation for it, and I couldn't even get the SCI fans to take a glance at it during the threads. Even just to see the short she did.
Aeon Flux is 100% style over substance. It's sad watching such interesting design and animation mean nothing because there's no plot behind it that lasts longer than the episode. By the time I got to the episode where that person got their legs cut off as a punishment for trying to leave the city, I finally realized it was just torture porn hidden behind stylish animation with hints of the created world to make it seem like it's not porn. Shakespeare said it best, "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

Animated series was 8/10, hampered only by suddenly cutting off and not explaining a few big plot points and only hinting at them.
Comic is 9/10 wild ride up until about issue 13-14 or so, then falls off a bit with a strong issue here and there, and a 3/10 or worse ending.

I thought the comic was meh. Never saw the cartoon.

Seems more like the creator lost interest after a couple years and just floundered for a while then let it die.

Sam is good at ideas and concepts, not so much in creating a coherent plot.

He left comics to go work on Cow and Chicken then a couple other tv things before he had to come back in the mid 00s to pay the bills

It's weird because Spawn had a crossover with everyone in his early days.

I love that even Ken Penders knows Spawn is the most useless superhero of all time who will do nothing but sulking in his alley until he gets directly attacked by some schizo or the Violator.

Does it seem a bid off that the comic that featured an awful lot of child grooming, rape, and abuse was written by a guy that was himself groomed as a teen? Was Mr Gone the self insert?

      Anonymous

He wrote from what he knew, and for as much as he peppers it in, it's never the true focus most of the time. Hell, Julie's trauma came from her mom killing the rabbit, the rape's brought up a few times sure but it's not her central source of mental scarring.
I will say Mr Gone is likely Keith's "shadow," those darker impulses coming to the surface. Could be seen as wish fulfillment if you prefer.

I think that anon is referring to how Keith was apparently fricking a 37 year old when he was 15.

Oh I know, I'm talking about how it leaks into his work. I think some of his later works are much more on-the-nose about it, picrel is about as autobiographical as one could get before writing a straight-up memoir.

      >why did this guy who was molested have a molester as the main villain?
