The only downside is Fox's performance, hes not a hood actor and in many acenes he comes out as someone on an SNL sketch.
Agreed. Last act lowers it for me, which is a shame because Cruise is so locked in and the nightclub scene so climatic. Originally I read Sandler was planned for the cab driver--wish we had seen that version instead.
Movie is too flawed to be his best. I mean the editing in the second half of the movie is so bad. I feel like they were missing shots and a lot of scenes would have these random jumps in the middle of the scene. Also that final shootout (beside Will jumping thru the window in slow motion while the kino music plays) is laughable joke. It's a shock that the same man made one of the greatest shootouts in film history.
No? It's perfect. It ties into his whole "improvisation" self-cope and adds a layer of irony to the moment where Max predicts he'll use the mozambique drill to avoid getting shot
20 mins of Al Pacino arguing with some spoiled guinea brat about a portable TV or some shit. Then a goofy shootout that goes on 10 mins longer than it should. POINT BREAK is the superior bank robber movie
Holy filtered. So many of the movie's themes flew right past your tiny nugget you call a brain. You just are physically incapable of appreciating the raw emotional intensity and vibe. It's not your fault, but I do feel bad for you, anon.
Max was originally going to be played by Adam Sandler you know. In an alternate timeless this thread is a shit flinging fest about israelites instead of Black folk.
Hmmm, I wonder if Sandler did the role, they would have changed Jada to some blonde shiksa and instead of Vincent felatiating jazz music, it would have been stand up comedy vaudeville style. The roaming gang of L.A. skin head nazis still would have remained, because that's so Raven.
>cars and guns >hostage situation >le hitman creepo
its like 80% of noirs and thrillers
Characters are paper thin,
dialogues are corny as hell,
Cruise's hairs are goofy.
Its not a terrible movie , its just very bland and predictable.
I can't get immersed. 6/10
I think it's just free on youtube right now. To be quite honest I see a lot of movies that way. Sometimes they get good shit. It's how I saw Patton and Lawrence of Arabia.

I watched Collateral recently on Pluto and I'm the one who's mostly been making most of the threads except for this one. I just love the movie so much. I remember watching it when it first came out when I was like 5 but I completely forgot about it until now
why does this movie look cheap? like a tv movie, soap opera, or something
i dont know much about filmmaking but it looks off. like they increased the framerate and turned on motion blur.
I'm surprised Cruise didn't demand his character should be turned into a tragic hero and live in the end. The only movie where he plays a villain and it's the best role of his career
This movie was kino. Heat might be the better movie but I like Collateral more on a personal level. It made me stop wasting my life and actually do something about my shitty life. It gave me hope at a time when I didn't have any. Used to think that a movie changing someone's life or mind was moronic bullshit but this movie really did change me. Thank you Michael Mann.
same
most mann movies are mesmerizing but at the end of the day they're just well done crime flicks. this is the only one that hit me deep. literally "stop rotting away and do something"

Yes. It's quick and fast. He's a skilled assassin. He's not a fricking video game character who makes reddit quips and does fortnite dances like John Reddit
In all seriousness, is there a reason why Michael Mann wanted Tom Cruise to have gray hair? Besides looking unique and kino as frick? It really does beg the question. If he was such a skill hitman, why did he have such a distinctive hair style? That just makes him stick out more. I guess when you're a super hit man assassin you don't have to worry about the police catching you because you can just murder them lol
now that you mention it has hollywood ever gotten the "subtle" part of hitmen right?
every time there's a character like that they're always the most conspicuous dudes around kek. like anton from ncfom or arnie in terminator.
Literally in my top 5 of all time. It is an existential oddessey thru the LA underworld all in the period of one night.
Absolute kino and TC in his highest form
yeah
classic cruisekino
Not Mann's best film.
Agreed. Last act lowers it for me, which is a shame because Cruise is so locked in and the nightclub scene so climatic. Originally I read Sandler was planned for the cab driver--wish we had seen that version instead.
It's Manhunter obviously
Wrong once again.
A Blackhat fan, how rare
So you're a Last of the Mohicans kind of guy?

Mann's best film is Ferrari. Mann cast Sarah Gadon in that.
>Mann's best film is Ferrari. Mann cast Sarah Gadon in that
This. Hoping fr a trailer this month.

ABSOLUTE KINO
Samegayging much?
somebody called her a coalburner what does that mean?
The only downside is Fox's performance, hes not a hood actor and in many acenes he comes out as someone on an SNL sketch.
Yep, I hate him in everything. In fact this is the only thing I can remotely stand him in and he still brings it down a notch
This. Foxx has always been shit. The Vincent being really into jazz was weird too.
No? It's perfect. It ties into his whole "improvisation" self-cope and adds a layer of irony to the moment where Max predicts he'll use the mozambique drill to avoid getting shot
slightly wrong, he's not a great actor but this was a good role for him. he does look out of place sometimes in certain films (the soloist)
Just wait until you see Thief and Heat.
Neither of those are Mann's best film either.
>Heat

Point Break would have been better if they had dressed up as the Village People when they robbed the banks.
I liked the white gang roaming around downtown LA. Whites and their gang issues I swear
Better to just make it white people because movies used to be about entertainment and not causing a fuss.
>white man bad
>black man goood
wow what a kino
>Imagine being this mentally brain dead and obsessed over race politics
You need a break from /misc/ buddy
because of dumdums like you we are in the position we are today
Nobody takes your opinion seriously
>I’ll try gaslighting, that’s a good trick
You’re transparent, Moshe.
Holy shit look at this mental patient KEK looks like the short bus finally broken this anon
Max was originally going to be played by Adam Sandler you know. In an alternate timeless this thread is a shit flinging fest about israelites instead of Black folk.
In the timeline where the good guys won it would be neither, just pure kino.
tbh Sandler is a good dramatic actor, it may have worked
Hmmm, I wonder if Sandler did the role, they would have changed Jada to some blonde shiksa and instead of Vincent felatiating jazz music, it would have been stand up comedy vaudeville style. The roaming gang of L.A. skin head nazis still would have remained, because that's so Raven.
Soulless
You weren't born when people started calling movies that on the internet
Cruise charisma is carrying hard this movie, the rest is completely soulless and generic.
Explain how a story about a reluctant taxi driver driving a hitman around LA late at night to kill people is "generic"
>cars and guns
>hostage situation
>le hitman creepo
its like 80% of noirs and thrillers

If you didn't get it, well then you didn't get it. You just don't have the emotional capacity and mental awareness to truly appreciate this movie.
>To Be Fair, You Have To Have a Very High IQ to Understand le KINO meek protagonist pow pow vroom vroom.
Yes and?
your post? yes
did some youtube gay do a review of this recently I keep seeing threads pop up now

Great movie, shit ending
why does this movie look cheap? like a tv movie, soap opera, or something
i dont know much about filmmaking but it looks off. like they increased the framerate and turned on motion blur.
Because it's one of the first movies to digital filmmaking right
I'm surprised Cruise didn't demand his character should be turned into a tragic hero and live in the end. The only movie where he plays a villain and it's the best role of his career
hes been the villain a bunch of times moron

Based making a difference anons
We're all gonna make it, bros.
It's one of those movies that I can watch multiple times and never get tired of it, one of my favs
Same
>Pro hitman
>Needs a cab driver
nice asspull Mann
I read the screenplay. An earlier version had Vincent's last words as 'Its all jazz'
Overrated
Post the briefcase webm
Wait, ANOTHER Collateral thread? Are you people that scared of wasting your lives not pursuing your dreams?
>Yo homie
>here's that incredible action scene i was telling you about
Yes. It's quick and fast. He's a skilled assassin. He's not a fricking video game character who makes reddit quips and does fortnite dances like John Reddit
>no reddit quips
>clean your room bucko
Guess that's why Collateral got three sequels. Oh wait.
>movies should be franchises
No. Even Heat 2 is a questionable idea.
The frick is up with the second guy at 00:16
