>let me guess, they b***h about asian stereotypes non stop, while reinforcing them, and refuse to see the irony.
I don't remember any b***hing about racism in the show, it does reinforce stereotypes though since the entire plot is started by the main asian woman being a terrible driver
Differences in spatial cognition skills is a tough topic. When an aptitude is attributed to race, gender it's a debate, or how it's measured is biased etc
I'm an extremely racist /misc/ type and I watch Korean movies and television shows every day.
I watched Hansel and Gretel earlier and I'm watching Healer now.
That’s the beauty of it, it doesn’t make it too much about being Asian. I’d go as far as saying this is the first kino Asian American show ever made, Yuen’s acting genuinely made me shed a tear.
Went into this with low expectations, but was very surprised. It's hilarious, has good character development, and isn't preachy. Not at all what you'd expect from looking at the poster.
gave it 3 episodes, just felt like two annoying characters doing petty shit to each other back and forth. its like spy vs spy but instead of being written by some clever 50s israelite with an understanding of rube goldberg machines, its written by a bunch of coastal white and asian women who swap out the intriciate machines and setups for things like "bro you peed on my carpet" and "canceled me on social media"
From what ive heard, the characters grow a lot and you understand that its a show about trying to understand and communicate with one another and blah blah blah, too bad you're making me sit through 8 episodes of irredeemable annoying buttholes doing petty shit to each other
I didn’t write this, but this is exactly how I felt. Down to dropping it after episode 3.
I didn’t like a single character and nothing about their feud was intriguing or entertaining.
Let me guess, the woman wins the feud. For all their MUH REPRESENTATION shit, woke diversity types absolutely hate Asian men. Look at the DIVERSE cast of Three Body Problem. All the women got to stay Asian but the Asian men are all white and black now. Fricking hypocrites.
I don't have to explain the 3 Body Problem to you. You said "Let me guess" and tried to surmise Beef's plot through culture war brainrot and failed. There's nothing to debate, you already lost.
>Let me guess, Beef is WOKE and erases Asian men >Nope >You're deflecting!!
Again, this shit is embarrassing to read. Go back to r/asianmasculinity and seethe about 3 Body Problem with incels who care

I don't have to address a show I've never seen to tell you you were wrong about Beef. Sorry 3 Body Problem did you a heckin saderino, but it's not my problem and not the subject of this thread.

Nah bro, we're not "discussing asian male erasure and lack of representation". You said "I bet Beef doesn't have male asian characters because 3 Body Problem doesn't" and I said "Wrong".
That's it. That's the exchange. This thread isn't about 3 Body Problem and whatever happened in that show has no bearing on Beef.

>Cinemaphile is unironically praising banal melodrama made by Netflix now
If the drama in your allegedly realistic drama show hinges on hilariously improbable twists of fate to set up cosmic irony it's really not that good.
>The fact that some people will absolutely freak out and go on a sperg rampage just because people are attempting to discuss a show that isn't about white people is one of the symptoms of the rot of Cinemaphile. This really isn't a "woke" series in any form or fashion.
Unfortunately this is standard for Cinemaphile these days. Great shows with a non-white cast get ridiculed and ignored while mediocre slop with a n all-white cast gets praised for being "based and redpilled" No consideration for the actual quality of the show, just id-pol bullshit.
anyways, really good show. don't wanna give anything away for people who intend on watching it but was pretty surprised the places it went, and I found the ending more emotionally impactful and memorable than anything else I've seen at least thru 2023. highly recommended.
It's very good. Shame they will ruin it now by milking the series name by making a anthology series. No doubt they'll have cameos from cast from the first season at some point.
I liked the first and second episodes but didn't keep up with it, I'll have to sit down and watch it again. Race issues are definitely a part of it but from what I remember it wasn't just "yt bad" and Yeun's character was portrayed as being a hypocritical b***h about race while his brother was more of a chad who didn't get so hung up on that shit.
>asians
let me guess, they b***h about asian stereotypes non stop, while reinforcing them, and refuse to see the irony.

The female lead is clearly frustrating dealing with the microaggressions from the rich white lady and the white employee
You guessed wrong. Now what?
are white people really this insecure?
No, just fatigued.
You sound fragile and insecure.
oookaay, xiaoping
Yes.
/pol/yps will piss and moan about "woke" if they see a single POC character in the trailer for a show/movie lol. so yes.

Nah, Beef is good. You're think of Crazy Rich Asians.
>Google wood ears

That you had to google it speaks volumes, gwailo
That's a part of it, yes, but it's a good show despite it
Great needle drop at the end of episode one
can't be good if the trailer didn't make me laugh

in all fairness the performances were good and it was shot well, ill give it that

I don't see why people like this. It was extremely lame. and they do a lot of the "DUDE We're SO Asian!" thing a bunch
try that again in English
i only ever hear about this shit on this board, and have concluded that its being shilled by homosexuals
Vs the other television and film discussion forums you frequent?
Maybe you should frick off and stay there.
good morning i hate (americanized) asians
Too long
I didn't expect to like it, but it turned out to be one of the best shows I've ever seen. 9.7/10
Best series I've watched in at least a year, no idea how Cinemaphile slept on this one.
Hapa detected
So explain the cast of Three Body Problem. Explain why there's only ONE Asian man in the main cast.
I haven't seen the 3 Body Problem, but your take on Beef is factually wrong.
See:
This is seriously getting embarrassing.

it's not a "banal melodrama" and it does not attempt a realistic tone. you should try actually watching it.
i only watched the first 2 episodes but when his brother said "we want the southern California Korean market" it got a kek out of me
>asian people who aren't Japanese

I deleted this from my Plex server because it's American Netflix and just assumed it was going to be shit.
It's very good. Shame they will ruin it now by milking the series name by making a anthology series. No doubt they'll have cameos from cast from the first season at some point.
I'm so fricking tired of all this bland "asian american" content.
It was really bland when that woman got cut in half by the security door
