They used to just throw away TV episodes after showing them back then and also nitrate is highly flammable so tons of shows burned up in the vaults.

This is one of the saddest things, the 70s and 80s had so much kino television and so much of it was just destroyed. A small fraction of it was preserved when VCRs became popular but most of it is just gone.

Anon, they're slightly incorrect, so don't worry, most materials from the 70s and 80s are just fine. Now, seeing them and buying them easily and legally are other separate matters.

Bruh there is so much shit that is utterly obliterated. Sesame Street, maybe, I'm sure exists. But I'm talking about other shows. Used to be a guy on my local UHF channel who did an absolute kino movie hosting show for 30 years, with little bits of trivia and history. Now all gone except a tiny clip or two that managed to survive on Youtube. Maybe someone has a big stack of tapes archived somewhere, but we'll never find them.

              >there is so much shit that is utterly obliterated.
I know, but mostly that affects stuff from before the 70s.

              >Used to be a guy on my local UHF channel who did an absolute kino movie hosting show for 30 years, with little bits of trivia and history. Now all gone except a tiny clip or two that managed to survive on Youtube.

Sounds interdasting. Seriously I hope those are found. But as to the professional films, I think we're in better shape worldwide, than say the BBC and their willful destruction of Doctor Who and other shows.

Not sesame street forums, Lost Media Wiki discord. That’s the guy who runs the wiki telling people not to post the link to this. The wiki is infamous for shitty archival of lost media with some pieces that resurface getting lost again.

I belong to a Discord forum of people reverse-engineering Super Mario 64 to do stuff like add high-poly models and raycasting. But if you ask them for the actual rom they tell you to pound sand. homosexuals too afraid to get sued to do anything fun. Same thing happened with Stage 9: a recreation of the Enterprise-D in Unity. Got cancelled cause some filthy lawyer found out. Joke's on them, Star Trek has been utter shit since Enterprise and that project would have given CBS undue praise. Now they work on recreating the Orville, which is owned by Disney. Uh oh!

Why do they care so much?

the discord mod is a strange creature. it's seen that it has a 'job' (self appointed) to do. in it's nature, it is petty and borderline moronic - but excuses it as a part of it's 'job'. 'attention!' is all it thinks, as it @s everyone on its troony discord server. it does not care that noone would think to DMCA a show from 50 years ago, nor that it would get them into real trouble, for all it cares is one thing: attention, and it's dilation schedule. an odd creature i must say.

Here in Norway, someone bought the concept in the 90's and made Sesame Station. Everything is clean, no trash on the street, only white people (and muppets).

Does anyone rememeber this weird animated skit they used to do of like, a child throwing a ball over a wall or something, only it was all dark, like pitch black. I read the Wizard of Earthsea books as a kid and there's this bit where the afterlife is described as this endless hill beyond a wall in darkness and it's just full of ghosts forever and I always thought that was the same thing, spooked the hell out of me
