It's not even that I go looking for this kind of stuff, it's just that the modern internet has become so bad with he mass adoption of normies, women, and Black folk/Black person-adjacent people that any time I try to look at things I like I'm genuinely put into a bad mood by these fricking leeches we call humans sucking the fun out of everything.

It's like how can you even be such a drag of a person? Like don't you ever get sick of being this vacuous, black hole of a human that just whines and whines at every little thing? It's like they're suffering so much by being a fricking piece of garbage with no integrity, and their only way of rectifying that is by making us all suffer too? It's not even just this letterboxd review, it's anywhere I try to find solace in the things I used to enjoy. Even this very website has a lot of them. What is the endgame of these vampiric people?

I'm tired, bros. I'm so tired...

      >What is the endgame of these vampiric people?
To demoralize you into committing suicide. I'm not fricking joking.

Yet you come here to see other people talk about movies in equally inane and stupid takes. Curious.

Cinemaphile can be fine if you avoid the bait threads, capeshit, /film/ and politically-sensitive new release discussions. So about 80% of the board at any given time :^)

It's really so annoying how many of those are on there. I read this review a couple weeks ago of some movie and it was paragraphs and paragraphs describing their own childhood. I kept reading it for some stupid fricking reason waiting for the writer to connect it to the movie they were reviewing to see how it was at all relevant but it never did, it was literally over 15 paragraphs detailing all the problems of their youth then at the very end wrote "this movie isn't very good" and that's it. It had absolutely nothing to do with anything about the film at all, and the comments were going "This is so brave of you" "Thank you for sharing this, it was beautiful". I got so fricking livid I threw my phone into the wall in anger.

Serious discussion of art is madness. Pure fricking unmitigated madness. There's absolute no reason to waste your time on it.
I've seen what happened with the arthouse threads and letterboxed is no different.
morons quickly lose their minds and devolve into their political and social bubbles and start building their little walls around what was ounce a free and open area to observe and commit to discourse on things. They're all sensitive homosexuals who still need about 30 thousand more years in the oven to be able to have an intelligence coherent real examination of the thing we call "art."
Such a thing is not possible in the modern day. Don't waste your fricking time on it.

It's only a problem with popular/modern movies, if you go to the reviews of a more obscure movie you can actually find some good writing, at worst it's usually just inoffensive so long as you block that one particular mentally ill troony.

I watched recently The Unknown from 1927. It's an old silent 'horror' movie about a guy pretending to be armless and a girl he fell in love with. This is the most popular review:

    >Everyone dies. Everyone dies frequently alone and scared and in pain. In order to prepare for this, we must meditate upon what it must be like or we don't have to wonder because every day is an extended, incomplete death, and so we must meditate upon that.
What a fricking load of cope. We live our lives in the great forest of fear, where you can't fight real experiences of the worst with fake ones (no matter how well synchronized a symbolic correspondence
they may have). When is the last
time you heard of someone scream-
ing himself awake from a nightmare,
only to shrug it off with: "Yeah, but I've seen worse at the movies!" Nothing is worse than that which happens personally to a person. And though a bad
dream may momentarily register quite high on the fright meter, it is, realistically speaking, one of the less enduring, smaller time terrors a person is up against. Try drawing solace from your half-dozen viewings of The Terrifier when they're prepping you for brain surgery.

Unless of course it actually gains traction like the #believeallwomen thing, we don't wanna be condemning the falsely accused to make real victims feel "heard", but some nonsensebabble on letterboxd is harmless
