Just started watching this kino. Interesting how cable tv 20 years ago managed to do representation of minorities and show their struggles without shoving it down your throat.
Does it go to shit at some point or is it safe to watch through the whole thing?

it never goes woke. but it does go to shit after season 5
this, season 4 is where the hum drum kinda starts kicking in and by season 5 on it's lost some of the elements that made it so good, turns more soapy, has more character time for characters i simply don't give a shit about, and starts to get into the inevitable television pitfall where the characters can't change because then the writers would have to genuinely start to simulate shit and figure out where things are going and that's TOOO HARDD 🙁 so things get flanderized and nobody ever learns anything long enough to carry on across episodes.
>inevitable television pitfall where the characters can't change because then the writers would have to genuinely start to simulate shit and figure out where things are going
Are there any shows which don’t do this?
non-serialized television.
S1-S3 are great, S4 starts dropping off, S5-8 are of lesser quality.
It never really turns to shit, but it also never reaches the peak comfyness of the first three seasons.
It gets really kino around the time thar Foreman starts nailing Dr. Hadley.
Sometimes I rewatch their scenes just because they're a convenient point to go to to remember how good the seasons were haha
Yeah my favorite part was the BBC dominating Olivia Wilde. Just imagining the perfect complementary tones of black and white.
it was the other girl who got blacked
I'm a super pale white boy and I used to frick a mocha colored mullato girl. Gotta say the color contrast in our skin was pleasant to see
First 4 seasons are solid, then the writer's guild strike ruined the writing team in a way the show never recovered from.
Nice digits
How did this current writer strike end?
Did the get one more every 2 episodes?
Steaming royalties?
No ai?
>the alien abduction episode
Ive watchedthis gif hundreds of times and only now I noticed Cameron doesnt say anything in it, lmoa.
She says "That's bad" after the patient says he has blood dripping out of his nose.
That's semantics.
every episode is the same episode with different jargon
zoomer moron
Same for suits.
Gee can you guys tell me the name of an episode? It's the one where Lewis is sneaky, and Harvey says "it's done" or "it's over"
Even seasons 5-8 run absolute miles of circles around television made today. I assure you House is a good ride all the way to the end.
why the frick did the writers name him eric foreman when there was another fox show with an eric foreman
They have a limited list of copyrighted names to choose from
Everybody in this thread go watch The Practice. Same creaters producers!
Each character gives a minimum 3 10/10 acting performances a season.
It's house but with lawyers. Very based on the cases as well.
Thanks anon.
For example even the single mother episode where she's seen as a hero ends with her breaking down and crying that she knows what her son needs she can't give him (a fathers influence) very powerful ep. And actually discusses the reason single parent hood often fails.
fricking impossible to find a proper rip for that thing nowadays
480p is the best I could find
To be tbh that sort of thing doesn't bother me. I sometimes specifically seek out streaming sites because I enjoy watching 480p recordings of televisions with the network logo in the bottom right corner.
Must be why the threads always get 3 replies and die.
I used to start one every few days but just gave up. I don't think anybody had seen it which is a shame. Everytime I rewatch I'm surprised by how good it is.
I think you can find it streaming somewhere
just weird to not be able to find a quality rip of such a good show somewhere
It's on Prime.
Huh, so it is.
>Can't record screen when watching Prime video
>Can't print screen screenshot either
Wtf this is some israeliteery the likes of which I've never seen.
lol its free for me, get fricked paycuck
No silly anon I already pay for prime since I buy shit, but being unable to record my screen for a higher quality rip to share with other people is a shame.
Fine, we'll use the old ways
>proper rip
There probably isn't one. It wasn't exactly a show with a massive fan or viewerbase so I doubt there was ever a rescan of the original film masters after the initial DVD pressings. There were bluray rereleases but it looks like they were just for convenience so you could have the entire show on 2 disks instead of spread across 8.
Is it a rescan or just the old hulu 480p version?
Thanks I listed it
Never understood why all these actors disappeared after such great performances. Why not at least Cameo as a patient or something in House? They producers know they are good actors and often use actors they know. It's kinda odd. I know lara flynn boyl but nobody else got any work after this really.
Seems odd.
for me it's season 8 when Alan Shore becomes the main character and every episode the lawyers get demoralized and used by secretly evil/openly guilty clients
I knew i recognised Mathilda's father in Leon from somewhere
Haven't seen that show in ages, might give it a watch
A lot of the actors did appear on David E. Kelley's other shows
House was created and produced by one of the ex-writers of The Practice
>Does it go to shit at some point or is it safe to watch through the whole thing?
It starts to noticeably go south around s5 and continues its downward trajectory through s7 and s8. If you really fall in love with the procedural nature of the show or are a completionist the last few seasons are far from unwatchable but they're much worse than when they were at their best in the early seasons. If it weren't for a specific character arc that I'm fond of I would recommend against s8 entirely, but unfortunately there wasn't really another place to put it.
If you're not a completionist and just want a nice tidy finish to the show and House's character, run through to the 2 hour special opener to season 6 and call it there. It's a very natural stopping point and I think it wraps everything up a whole lot nicer and cleaner than the broadcast ending.
That sentiment is very often shared, but I'm glad House kept going after that. It's never "happily ever after", there's always the day after, and we get to see that through the magic of television making.
only thing woke is your lupis
The episode House misgenders the teen supermodel hermaphrodite would never fly today
There's also an episode where House and Wilson gossip about another doctor dating a nurse who used to be a man and even actually use the word troony
They ACTUALLY USED the word troony? Dont' they know it's the new N word?
it was a different time
he also named the israelite a couple times in the show
>troony nurse is more interesting
Love that little conversation.
House shitting on Big Pharma instead of kissing their ass and calling them heroes also would not fly today.
I loved those episodes.
>20 years
It ended only 11 years ago.
It started screening 2004. I watched the first two seasons then, and only saw the full thing two years ago (shame on me for not doing it earlier but it was a joy to find such good kino locked away for me).
You can actually see the technical progress in the background in props and the equipment and phones they use.
They also had a phase when they started using Apple shit, maybe it even lasted to the end.
Clearly a sponsoring deal.
Remember when they started putting unbranded NOS energy all over the place for a couple seasons? I always wondered what that was about. It never tied into any plot and it easily could have been real product placement for any number of companies, but it was always propshit clearly designed to look like NOS.
The set manager was probably just a NOS fanboy.
No, not really? I just found it peculiar an MRI would have a Mac as the operating platform, but I only do computer shit for industrial systems, not medicine ones, so I wouldn't know.
I remember when House's gameboy got upgraded to a DS
The only thing that bothered me is every fricking patient is some kinda philosopher that causes the team or House to have deep thoughts.
It's more like every fourth episode but yes anon, television is about showing extremes and seeing a different aspect of life.
I understand the character growth though patient experience, but not them lecturing them like some kinda Aristotle.
Again that's like every fourth episode anon. I'm sorry you let that bother you.
Aristotle is very pedantic and tedious. His lectures would put you to sleep. The characters in House are more like Kirkegaard
the "mirror syndrome" guy that magically knows how to mimic their innermost selves was the worst offender to me. the condition it's not even real, it was entirely made up for the show
It's really hard for me to think of this show as being 20 years old
the pilot aired in november of 2004
in a year it's gonna be legit 20 years old
Same for 4chins.
Wilson is the weirdest one for me. Dude was such a looker from seasons 1-5, then his face subtly changes from 6-8. It's nigh impercetible, but he just loses his handsomeness somehow. Maybe his nose making him look more cartoony.
Is he fatter?
Aging is scary bros
>cable tv 20 years
Broadcast network, not cable. Fox.
House is good but ER is better
agreed 100%
the first 6 seasons of ER are unadulterated medical kino
incoming sticky soon
jesus
SEXO
cute
It’s almost like all the politics in modern media is literal war propaganda, we’re in a civil war, civilians vs the corporate state. Back in time shows were just shows and had people and race wasn’t really a factor. But now every show is about how male children are actually women and all White people need to be killed, it’s nothing more than intense israeli prejudice against everyone else (besides nigs I guess) so yeah, apples and oranges.
Very different shows but I take it there's a lot of overlap between House and L O S T fans no? They were the peak of television back then.
we have to go back!
did anyone watch Avenue 5? I haven't, it was canceled after 2 seasons but I plan to watch it after finishing House.
It also has the actor who played Gabe from The Office.
