>what's your opinion of it?
Overall it's fine, but I hate how much the writers play favorites with characters and bend the story to suit their preferences. It's going to backfire later on when certain moments don't work well due to the writers not building up the characters properly.
this >whitewashed rhaenyra >whitewashed rhaenys >whitewashed alicent >whitewashed aemond (sort of) >fricked daemon's shit up >fricked aegon's shit up >fricked cole's shit up >starting with episode 8 they turned the show into Good Guys (blacks) vs Bad Guys (greens)
but it's okay because it's le power of women this time
i don't understand how they managed a 10 episode season of GOT a year for 6 seasons but need two years for 8 episodes of HOTD, which seems a much less complicated show
is it supposed to be vfx that's the problem now? too many dragons?
Watched the first season till the second to last episode then we dropped it. That whole dragon b***h not killing her enemies was autistic and reminded me of S8 of GoT.
>That whole dragon b***h not killing her enemies was autistic
It was also complete show fanfiction with 0 basis in the original story. Rhaenys just sneaks out with the previous king's crown trying to avoid prying eyes, and Aegon rides his dragon during a succesful coronation.
at its best, which is the majority of the time, absolute kino
but at its worst, it's fricking moronic

the writer for that episode said her thought process for that scene was "wouldn't it be cool if a dragon burst through the ground here". yes, really.
>That whole dragon b***h not killing her enemies was autistic and reminded me of S8 of GoT.
Yea that was the low point of HOTD season 1. It's like they were trying to give her something to do, so they did something really fricking stupid.
A few other criticisms I have of season 1:
>the fighting in the steppe stones (crab king death was really stupid) >Cole's role of the king maker was cut >no reaction from Rhaenyra Targaryen or even a funeral for the death of Harwin Strong and the rest of his family >Corlys Velaryon was a little too willing to side with the Greens considering they killed his FRICKING SON
In general I thought season 1 was short and cut alot of stuff out. I hope we get alot of answers to stuff that happened season 1 in season 2, like Daemon Targaryen killing Rhea Royce and aftermath of that or Vaemond Velaryon's death should play key rolls in the Dance.
this >whitewashed rhaenyra >whitewashed rhaenys >whitewashed alicent >whitewashed aemond (sort of) >fricked daemon's shit up >fricked aegon's shit up >fricked cole's shit up >starting with episode 8 they turned the show into Good Guys (blacks) vs Bad Guys (greens)

>starting with episode 8 they turned the show into Good Guys (blacks) vs Bad Guys (greens)
Yea it's kinda fricking annoying as all hell. I hope we get the perspective that this war was a war of brother vs brother and sister vs sister. Because at the end of the day, they are all one family.
Saved the live action adaption of the ASOIAF universe.
Prior to HOTD, it was deadier than fricking dead. GOT literally killed itself and all cultural relevance of the show died the second the finale aired. It seems HBO is doing a soft reboot of the universe with HOTD. It's refreshing to see and know that ASOIAF live adaption doesn't have forever been known as David Benioff and D.B. Weiss universe.
We could see a few successful prequels that will set the stage for a reboot of GOT/
The only reason I'll watch season 2 is because the level of autism that goes on in /hotd/ threads is probably unmatched anywhere else on this website, I've never seen a congregation of mental illness this vast since /qa/ was banned for raising that one gay board, it's truly a sight to behold.
i wish they would stop shooting day for night, that entire episode looked like shit. other than that it's fine i guess. some great performances but it's interesting how much of a bubble it's in after how badly the finale of Thrones destroyed the fandom.
the amount of pedophiles in /hotd/ is mindboggling, i don't think the got threads were that bad
It's pretty good, we're not exactly in the Golden Age of television anymore and there's not a lot to look forward to, but it was fun speculating with the rest of the world as the episodes went along.
What I didn't like was the fact that when I watched some of the peripheral interviews with the actors for their publicity stunts, it became very clear that the actresses playing the young queens didn't know anything about game of thrones or the lore or story that they were telling, they were just repeating lines for a paycheck. Everybody else involved was real excited and knowledgeable and ready to play trivia and all that jazz, but those two girls were just giggling and acting like moronic teenagers
>kingsguard just randomly murders another guy during a party and its literally 100% glossed over >same kingsguard 'accidently' murders an old man by pushing him down too hard (slit his throat in the book)
What even is this character? Aside from that it's all the same girlpower BS late GoT was about, with terrible pacing. morons ate it up because it's better than the worst of GoT was, which is saying nothing.
It's so fricking moronic. He's literally a no-name knight from a part of westeros that isn't even one of the seven kingdoms at the time. Yet he gets away with literally everything despite being at most a goon. People who say this is on the level of early GoT are out of their minds. Maybe on the level of s5 or 6.
>He's literally a no-name knight from a part of westeros that isn't even one of the seven kingdoms at the time.
The Dornish Marches are part of the Stormlands
Well okay, but he's still just a random knight who only got the position because monke had the hots for him. Then everyone treats him like he's untouchable? He murdered someone in the middle of a party.
It is relatively good - relative to how low the bar has become and the sea of shit that constitutes contemporary entertainment. As other anons have said there are numerous things wrong with it, which (although notable at the time) standout even more in retrospect; I also suspect that the flaws in S1 will become even greater/apparent going forward, to the point of outweighing the strengths. I am probably not going to watch S2 unless I hear really really good things. Part of the reason I watched S1 was for the comfy shitposting however, (especially if it is bad) that can only carry it so far and there is only so much discussion I can do before it becomes tiresome.
all the fuss about the blackwashed targs is funny considering nearly all of them are dead anyway
It's actually somewhat suprising that GoT was so much better at this than HoTD. All nonwhite characters are from nonwhite places (+ bravos but it was founded by escaped slaves of various backrounds)
Then HoTD has african valerians because they havent hit the nignog quota, despite valerians being megawhites. Of course George doesnt even give enough of a shit to finish his books, let alone to put his foot down on raceswaps.
it was fricking hilarious in episode 1 where the Velaryons had 100% african american features different from any other westerosi but the characters don't see anything unusual, yet the women instantly recognize Cole as Dornish because he's a bit tanned and looks hispanic
it's like the show was daring me to try and point out the inconsistency
They're 100% meant to be white in-universe. The one generation after corlys is already half black, which begs the question, how did the favourite family of the targeryens to marry into remain black since the conquest?
Also the whole bastard sons thing is sooooo obvious when none of them are black or even have white hair. Zero denial, we already have examples of what targ-velaryon mixes produce.
But frick logic, make them black and don't think about it.
Maybe I have gone insane but this show was dog shit give or take a scene or two. You'd have to be braindead to enjoy this. It's basically a teenage girl drama with dragons. Boring as frick. Horrible characters.
it was fine. can't wait for the graphic 15 minute sex scene with alicent and rhaenyra next season
Paddy Considine was amazing
Don't give a shit about season 2
>Paddy Considine was amazing
Maybe we will get some flashbacks with him returning.
decent, made worse knowing how GOT ends
>what's your opinion of it?

I love it but can HBO frick off with whole “two years between seasons” bullshit
>I love it but can HBO frick off with whole “two years between seasons” bullshit

>now we get 9 episodes every two years with nothing to fill in the gap here
jesus.

About to become horrible.
>About to become horrible.
Explain?
The only reason I'll watch season 2 is because the level of autism that goes on in /hotd/ threads is probably unmatched anywhere else on this website, I've never seen a congregation of mental illness this vast since /qa/ was banned for raising that one gay board, it's truly a sight to behold.

the amount of pedophiles in /hotd/ is mindboggling, i don't think the got threads were that bad
You couldn't go 4 posts without somebody fetishizing kid Bran back in /got/'s prime. Pedophilia has been a long standing GoT tradition
i remember that much but it didn't seem as widespread, /hotd/ had pedos lustposting about every one of Rheneyra's children, it was weird
i am finishing the book right now, wonder how many things will be changed in the series.
It's pretty good, we're not exactly in the Golden Age of television anymore and there's not a lot to look forward to, but it was fun speculating with the rest of the world as the episodes went along.

dropped it around episode 4 or 5
it's fricking shit

basically he's the designated angry incel in the show
It's so fricking moronic. He's literally a no-name knight from a part of westeros that isn't even one of the seven kingdoms at the time. had some really high highs and some low lows, the Black folk and the girlboss shit was very cringe but I like the Westerosverse so I watch regardless
all the fuss about the blackwashed targs is funny considering nearly all of them are dead anyway
