House of the Dragon season 2

Are you excited for House of the Dragon season 2? Is there any news if Daeron the Daring has been cast yet, and how the showrunners will explain away no one mentioning Daeron in season 1?

why the frick would they cut nettles? Isn't she Daemon's bastard? And if Daeron hasn't been cast that means he's only showing up in S3? When will S2 end? Why don't they just give us based Daeron? They can't just have a secret Targaryan son they never talked about show up in Season 3 out of the blue.

Nettles is just some GRRM fetish character that’s irrelevant to the larger story

Most of the Dance is like that

Nettles was one of the more interesting parts to having multiple accounts of the dance. In fact it’s one of the most argued about parts to this day, whether Daemon saw her as a daughter or a lover.

I’m not talking about us I’m talking about normal people. Whenever it’s brought up there are swarms of Daemon defenders swearing that Daemon only saw her as a daughter.

                >In fact it’s one of the most argued about parts to this day
Why? What difference does it make with anything?

Because it makes Daemon not loyal to Rhaenyra if she was his lover, and Rhaenyra seem evil for demanding her head either way. It’s a sore spot for team black, so it’s a shame it’s not being included.

interesting folklore is that she survives the dance and goes to the mountains of moon and influences a renegade offshoot of the stone crows clan, who start mutilating parts of their body with fire to gain her and her dragon's favor, becoming the burned men clan, whose leader, timmett son of timmett meets with tyrion and comes to kings landing

also to note is that during littlefinger's monologue to sansa about harry the heir, he mentions that one of the elder sisters was abducted by the burned men while enroute to redstone, quite possibly making timett the rightful heir of the vale above harry

I am not very excited because they seem to be taking the conflict and characters, and twisting them in a way that aligns with their sensibilities.

Alicent was a schemer but the writers are very feminist so now she's an innocent victim who misunderstands what's happening and everything is out of her control.
Aemond is a cool bad boy liked by girls so his psychopathic behavior now is turned into accidents out of his control.
Rhaenyra is a Maegor with breasts (aka vicious tyrant) but she's turned into a strong good girl resisting the patriarchy, all of her misdeeds get thrown into Daemon's lap.
Aegon's redeeming aspect is his bond to his dragon but he's opposed to Rhaenyra therefore in his coronation who's a dragonless schmuck who gets scared by a granny on her dragon.
Daemon groomed his niece but this is shown as a sweet romance because the writers know there's fangirls who'll ship it.
Criston Cole was used by Rhaenyra into breaking his vows, but the show framed that with modern 21st centuries in order to make him look like a bitter misogynist incel.

It's going to cheapen the story massively in the long term once people figure out what is being done to the story. The intrigue and complexity is being thrown out so the writers can play favorite and they distort the sensibilities to fit a 21st century audience more.

my favorite was the white worm being changed into some social worker in kings landing feeding the poor instead of a mysterious schemer. guarantee she will have nothing to do with blood and cheese in the show, nor with rhaenyra they are gonna make it entirely daemon's plan

Agreed, he's the worst part of the show for many reasons though. Swear that gay was one word off using some twitter slang when he has his incel rant. Also he ruins 2 other scenes for me, the killing at the King's celebration and when he just kills one of the fricking council members - not a single bit of wtf from anyone? No punishment? Not even a confrontation? He's a horribly written character in this show

While I agree it was moronic to do it that way instead of at the tourney like the book. Wasn’t it implied that there was going to consequences for him for both killing Joffrey and breaking his vows when he was about to kill himself? It was Alicent who pardoned him, we just didn’t get to see it because of the time convenient time jump.

Rhaenys - killed at the Battle of Rook's Rest in late 129 AC alongside her dragon Meleys, severely injuring Aegon II and Sunfyre in the process
Jacaerys - shot in the water by crossbowmen in the Battle of the Gullet in 130 AC after his dragon Vermax crashed into the sea
Otto - captured by Rhaenyra after the Blacks' taking of Kings Landing and promptly executed in 130 AC
Criston - pin-cushioned by Robb Rivers (the finest archer in Westeros) and two other archers in the Butcher's Ball massacre in 130 AC
Aemond - impaled through his blind eye by Daemon in the Battle Above the God's Eye, mutually dying with his uncle (presumably) and their dragons in 130 AC
Daemon - skewered Aemond mid-air like a fricking boss and likely died with him alongside their dragons in 130 AC, though his body was never found
Helaena - committed suicide on the day of the Storming of the Dragonpit in 130 AC, jumping from her window onto moat spikes below
Joffrey - mounted Syrax to try and stop the riots during the Storming of the Dragonpit in 130 AC, thrown off by the dragon mid-flight
Daeron - died mysteriously during the Second Battle of Tumbleton in 130 AC, most likely slain by a sellsword upon leaving his tent
Mysaria - captured by Greens' supporters after they retook King's Landing in 130 AC, died from whipping on a walk of atonement

Aegon II - crippled for most of the war until fatally poisoned by unconfirmed conspirators prior to Cregan Stark's arrival in 131 AC
Larys - willingly chose to be executed by Cregan Stark during the Hour of the Wolf in 131 AC, his House going extinct upon his beheading
Alicent - survived the Dance but confined to her chambers in 132 AC and became depressed and insane, died from Winter Fever a year later
Corlys - survived the Dance and named as one of Aegon III's regents, passed away in 132 AC of old age
Aegon III - became king in 131 AC and married Helaena's daughter Jaehaera Targaryen, scarred by the Dance and was massively depressed his entire reign
Viserys II - presumed dead after the ship ferrying him to Pentos was raided in 129 AC, eventually reunited with Aegon III in 134 AC, became king in 171 AC
Cregan - delivered classic unbiased Northern justice in the Hour of the Wolf in 131 AC, returned North after Aegon III's coronation, lived a long respectable life

He didn't actually die though. The historians and Maesters who wrote Blood and Fire wrote that he died. Daeron rode Tessarion as it continued to fight after he died and Daeron is the mysterious hedgeknight who went to king's landing and installed a vassal on the throne who started giving orders that brough order to King's landing. Daeron didn't die unceremoniously burning in a tent after a sneak attack, he survived the whole war but was written out of history.

Take it with a pinch of salt but the sources have not been wrong yet. Daemon sneaks into kings landing in episode one and is involved with blood and cheese somehow. Dyana is involved with blood and cheese too (the moon tea girl from season 1). Rhaenyra and Daemon have a falling out because of it and they spend a lot of time apart. Daemon being at Harrenhal with Alys for most of the first half of the season (their relationship is not confirmed or anything but it would make sense now that Nettles has been cut). The peasants riot against green rule, Rhaenerya sneaking into kings landing disguised as a septa is directly related to this somehow. A wagon of food is involved too so she’s likely feeling Le poor starving peasants. Rooks rest is episode 4 and Baela will be in the fight, or at least will be the one to discover cripsy rhaenys. Melys head parade is the episode after that. There will be some shots of white walkers at some point, likely a flashback scene while Cregan explains aegons prophecy. Hugh hammer has a nude scene with the brothel milf that took aemonds virginity /

How can they just have a secret targaryan son not show up for two years only to appear in S3 with Ormond Hightower and be like "oh yeah my bros Aemond and Aegon have been kicking ass, time for me to do something now". What explanation can they give for never mentioning him?

Why does it feel like there’s no tension at all? The “villains” are like 3 people, if you kill them, the story is over. GOT didn’t have that feeling, which was the whole appeal.
Also don’t like how there are obvious good guys and obvious bad guys. Part of the reason why I disliked the last few seasons of GOT.
I guess the first 4 seasons of GOT will never be replicated, not even in the same universe.

I get what you mean, but there will be a lot more notable houses joining the war this season that have their own little wars going on. Season 1 was a prologue basically. You can’t tell me non book gays would understand what was going on if you condensed season 1 into a couple of episodes and then went straight into war.

Well I skimmed through the wiki so I know what happens in the book more or less. The book must be really good, but I doubt they’ll translate all of the intricacies from all of the houses in the series. Because this story is inherently more focused on a certain group of people whereas GOT was more about the universe.

I’m not criticizing it, because the show is not even fully out yet, I’m explaining why I don’t feel as excited about it as I did with GOT, capisce?

            Anonymous

That's a ridiculously stance to take anon. If a show based on sixty pages in a book needs to fallback on the book to feel like anything of note is really happening that's a failure of the eight hour long tv series.
In the time it takes to watch a single episode of HOTD you can read the entire conflict in fire and blood.

I meant more the fact anon is criticising the show for not living up to events in the book he skimmed through on Wikipedia. It just baffles me why anyone would want to post in any got related threads without having reading all of the books.

Because a show should be able to stand on it's own, it's villains should have in show reasons for being hateable and it's stakes should be setup and felt.
HOTD did a poor job of making the conflict feel large scale by brushing past things you'd think were of significance constantly and ignoring the larger implication of the main casts actions.

      like got?

      >Also don't like how there are obvious good guys and obvious bad guys
Because Tywin Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Gregor Clegane, Janos Slynt, Joffrey Baratheon, Ramsay and Roose Bolton, and every single slaver we see are all such morally ambiguous characters who might not be so bad after all.

        Anonymous

Having pure evil characters is not bad, Joffrey was kino. But you can’t say that most characters in GOT weren’t morally grey, with the only exception being Jon Snow. That’s the difference.
What’s morally grey about Rhaenyra? Everything she does is painted as the hero. She has kids with another man? Oh it’s because her husband is gay and actually knows about it. She has an affair with her uncle? Oh it’s actually pure love, how cute. And she’s fighting for her rightful claim, and her best friend betrayed her, and her son gets killed, and she’s always the victim. Boring.

Even if she didn’t actually kill Laenor, she still made his parents think he was dead. Rhaenys will die thinking her son is dead and that the woman she’s dying for is responsible for it. And what she did with child Aemond was pretty fricked.

    Books:
    >the greens know a large part of the royal symbolism is dragonpower, so Aegon flies his dragon Sunfyre during his coronation - also foreshadowing that one of Aegon's rare redeeming qualities is his dragonriding and I'll-do-it-myself attitude which is a contrast to Rhaenyra
    >Rhaenys and the loyal kingsguard quietly sneak away with the crown Viserys wore
    >Rhaenyra doesn't ride her dragon after the black council because she was in labor recently and is still too physically exhausted, plus she's not big on dragonriding displays anyway
    Show:
    >no Sunfyre in sight, rapist Aegon looks like a dragonless emo schmuck with a hangover as nazi music plays during his coronation
    >Rhaenys bursts out of the floor on dragonback during the coronation and frightens the greens, contrasting their dragonless position with her own dragon display of power - Aegon looks like a cuck that got frightened to death by granny on a dragon
    >Rhaenyra rides her dragon five minutes after giving birth and the music plays up the sympathy for her super hard
Garbage show, I knew it'd be garbage from the moment Laenor's fate was altered to score points with the LGBT crowd and give the points to Rhaenyra.
I'll keep track of season 2 through the threads and if the webms are good then I'll join in and watch. If not I'll just catch up when season 3 is imminent.
