There was a frame they removed at the end of the episode though. The script explains it as “Aemond’s face hardens” or something like that. I take it to mean although it was a mistake, Aemond’s accepted what he’s done and he’s going to lean into it like it was deliberate.

I don't really care for who's right and wrong, I hate the situation because the showrunners' bias in the green vs black divide often leads to insincere, emotionally manipulative storytelling. With actions & consequences mattering less than how the showrunners want to manipulate the audience through emphasis and framing.
There's two very similar situations here with Aegon and Rhaenyra.
Aegon fricks an unwilling maid. Not an uncommon event for degenerate Targ kings but this leads to a 10 min scene of the devastated maid's ugly sobbing, the audience watching Alicent's disgusted and horrified reaction as she goes into hysteria over Aegon's sexual violence. To a modern audience, sexual violence is worse than murder and this completely shapes their opinion of Aegon. Around the same time Rhaenyra orchestrates a servant's death to help the gay nobleman Laenor go into an exile where he can be himself.
The maid's rape is something that heavily defines Aegon's character, but the murdered servant? The show forgets about him 5s after he dies - his death exists not to characterize Rhaenyra, but to help Laenor go be gay in peace. It's framed as a minor footnote in a good thing, modern audiences (allegedly) love LGBT messaging and the characters who champion that. Rhaenyra's actions also doesn't have any consequences since the Velaryons side with Rhaenyra despite the loss of their son. And nobody cares about the servant, but the raped maid? She'll be back in S2 just to rub it in lol and to remind people that Aegon R A P E S.
See the problem? The show doesn't really care about right or wrong, it just picks and chooses based on how it wants to emotionally manipulate the audience. Rape is awful but murdering someone just as innocent doesn't matter if the good guys do it. That's why the show sucks, and the showrunners' green vs black bias is a great demonstration of it.

Jace joins Cregan whose heading to the Wall and that's when the North declares for Rhaenyra despite a raven from the Greens that offers a frickton of deals like guaranteed food and supplies no matter what, a Targaryen prince for a Stark, a seat on the small council, less taxes, etc. Cregan and Jace have the Pact of Ice and Fire because it'd be an honor and privilege to have Jace's potential daughter wed Cregan's son, thus uniting the bloodlines.
Honestly, I hate how Jace died. Had he survived and been king instead of Aegon II, there would've been a Stark-Targaryen partnership and family connection. Imagine if Cregan's grandkid has Bran's level of powers with Valyrian dragon-riding?

I don't really care for who's right and wrong, I hate the situation because the showrunners' bias in the green vs black divide often leads to insincere, emotionally manipulative storytelling. With actions & consequences mattering less than how the showrunners want to manipulate the audience through emphasis and framing.
There's two very similar situations here with Aegon and Rhaenyra.
Aegon fricks an unwilling maid. Not an uncommon event for degenerate Targ kings but this leads to a 10 min scene of the devastated maid's ugly sobbing, the audience watching Alicent's disgusted and horrified reaction as she goes into hysteria over Aegon's sexual violence. To a modern audience, sexual violence is worse than murder and this completely shapes their opinion of Aegon. Around the same time Rhaenyra orchestrates a servant's death to help the gay nobleman Laenor go into an exile where he can be himself.
The maid's rape is something that heavily defines Aegon's character, but the murdered servant? The show forgets about him 5s after he dies - his death exists not to characterize Rhaenyra, but to help Laenor go be gay in peace. It's framed as a minor footnote in a good thing, modern audiences (allegedly) love LGBT messaging and the characters who champion that. Rhaenyra's actions also doesn't have any consequences since the Velaryons side with Rhaenyra despite the loss of their son. And nobody cares about the servant, but the raped maid? She'll be back in S2 just to rub it in lol and to remind people that Aegon R A P E S.
See the problem? The show doesn't really care about right or wrong, it just picks and chooses based on how it wants to emotionally manipulate the audience. Rape is awful but murdering someone just as innocent doesn't matter if the good guys do it. That's why the show sucks, and the showrunners' green vs black bias is a great demonstration of it.

All they have to do is this.
Jace shows up at Winterfell. Cregan tells Jace he's going to give and won't risk jeopardizing his people for a Southron queen. More arguments and verbal snipes. They eventually start to grow respect toward one another when Cregan realizes Jace isn't going to tuck tail and run while Jace understands that Cregan is thinking of his people surviving winter than fighting a war.
Jace joins Cregan whose heading to the Wall and that's when the North declares for Rhaenyra despite a raven from the Greens that offers a frickton of deals like guaranteed food and supplies no matter what, a Targaryen prince for a Stark, a seat on the small council, less taxes, etc. Cregan and Jace have the Pact of Ice and Fire because it'd be an honor and privilege to have Jace's potential daughter wed Cregan's son, thus uniting the bloodlines.
Honestly, I hate how Jace died. Had he survived and been king instead of Aegon II, there would've been a Stark-Targaryen partnership and family connection. Imagine if Cregan's grandkid has Bran's level of powers with Valyrian dragon-riding?

At least the First Blackfyre Rebellion has true tragedy. Daeron the Good was astute enough to neutralize Daemon as a threat by making sure he appeased him with lands and castle as well as a position in court. Meanwhile the Chad Daemon is best buds with his fellow bastard Brynden Rivers who receives Dark Sister to which the 2 half-brothers spar with their respective ancestral blades.
