It’s what we would have gotten more of had adult animation sprouted more from Æon Flux, and less from the Simpsons.
Scavenger Reigns was neat because it was serious, but it had such a poor exaction that I suspect it will scare people away from going the serious route for a while.

the guy you're replying to said "its only traits", which is literally not true with anime, though admittedly "all anime, including slice of life stuff and shows meant for actual children, vs a specific niche of western cartoon" is an unfair comparison, but even within the specific subset of seinen anime or stuff that's clearly meant to be more mature, sex and violence aren't the only traits present, and some would argue that those anime generally handle sex and violence better than western adult animation (emphasis on "generally").
