live action anime cannot work cause anime and manga is inherently detached from reality. from the dialogue, character archetypes and plots, none of it is based in reality like how humans actually speak to one another or actual struggles and questions humans go through and ponder. anime has rarely tried to capture reality like literature and film has at certain points, there's few exceptional manga that's true to life like some of the classics. it's why novels and short stories made for good material to turn into films. manga had the problem of trying to imitate cinema early on as well. anime and manga aren't really singular. cinema was eventually able to escape theater and directors throw out narrative and acting completely.

Just because fans like to cosplay the characters, that doesn't mean an actual live action movie can work.
It's cosPLAY. Costume PLAY. The actual work itself doesn't really work in live action. There is a reason why anime fans like ANIME. The very fact that the story is animated is part of the charm. Many of these stories just won't work or pop the same in live action.
