How come I never hear anything - positive or negative - about Hank Schrader when he's one of the best parts of Breaking Bad?

He's alright, but as the show went on fans became more enamored with Isaac Schrader and Hank kind of fell into the background.

I don't know. He was just kinda unremarkable. That's not to say he was a bad character. He actually wasn't. He was more like part of the furniture, a plot device, in a npc kind of way. He didn't really evolve or grow. He was just there.

      >didn’t evolve or grow
He grew a lot. He has arguably the most positive arc in the show.
      >starts out faking a tough guy movie cop schtick
      >actually does tough guy movie cop shit, realizes he cannot handle it, nor does he want to
      >learns to accept his limitations and contribute where he can while simultaneously going through profound physical trauma.
      >gets killed by a homosexual Nazi with his Hispanic friend

Hank arguably served as an inverse to Walt, going from a wannabe macho butthole to a legitimate hero, forced to grow as he is confronted by the menace of Heisenberg.

What is cruel/funny about it is that everyone loved Hank and thought he was a hero when he was a piece of shit, and Walt's pride and his insecurity inadvertently made Hank into the champion everyone thought he was. Had Walt swallowed his pride and spent his last years making bank at the old company, he would of died surrounded by loving family while Hank would've likely ended up divorced and isolated, people eventually getting sick of his shit

Before watching BB I always heard that Skyller was the worst thing ever, but after watching it, I don't see why everybody hates her. I mean, I hate women as much as the next guy, but all her actions seem justified to me (except fricking Ted)

Normalgays can't separate hating a character for their characteristic and personality, and the fact that they acted against the protagonist of their tv show.
      It's like game of thrones.
      >Character BAD because they said no to dragon queen
      >Skylar BAD because she had a problem with Walt doing illegal things.

Skylar wasnt an excellent wife in the first place but she wasnt total shit either. She is justifiably shaken and bitter by Walt's decision to throw their established life into a extremely dangerous ego driven gamble and constantly lying about it. She knows that deep down Walt cannot hack it in this world and that the money is just a veneer excuse for Walt's end of life crisis. Getting involved with Ted was stupid and fricking him was scummy but its pretty typical of a wife that is so disaffected.

James Rolfe said while reviewing Breaking Bad that Hank is the villain of the show because he's racist.
