>Was Verhoven even interested in doing a part 2? He never does sequels
He didn't even want to make the first film because he hated the script (it was one of those that had been passed around a bunch supposedly) but his wife read it and convinced him to do it because she felt it would fit his dark humor.
Which plot line was it. Robocop vs Terminators and the going into future and destroying Skynet? Or John Connor sending Robocop//Terminator back to destroy the Robocop program to prevent Skynet?
I don't remember. I beat ED-209. Caine was a lame bosfight where I had so jump over acid vats for some reason and the endboss was a giant terminator head with bullets coming from differnet places. The Ending credits had Robocop saying: "Thank you for cooperating!".
'Why' can come off as blunt and challenging, like a demand for a justification. 'How come' is softer, and sounds more like asking someone to help you understand something. Either one can lead someone to realise they're incorrect, which is useful when working with neurotic dickheads who can't stand losing face but make moronic suggestions in group meetings.
How come doesn’t always mean exactly the same thing as why doe. Let’s look at some examples
“How come they left?”
“Why they left?”
Why can not be used in the past perfect form here. You could say
“Why did they leave?” By that’s just the past tense, and it’s a little bit of a different meaning than the past perfect form of that question, since it would indicate it didn’t just happen.
It’s important to note that how come can also how why the process of something happened, and why can only ask how the process happens
>Where were they leaving?
Between your Reddit-spacing and moronic logic, you sound like those people who defend creoles, pidgins, and patois as LE HECKIN VALID dialects and languages.
Where were they leaving? What? You’re asking where they’re leaving to, but you’re not asking why they’re leaving. No, no, NOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Take it from a native English speaker, how come and why don’t always mean the same thing. You can often use how come instead of why, but you can never replace why for how come. If you took the time to learn basic English and grammar, we wouldn’t be having this conversation
We’ll it’s true doe. That guy is NOT as smart as me. And I AM a master of English. How come links to a presupposition, and why doesn’t do that, so you can’t always stuff why into the place of how come for all questions
because for robocop the first one was already an perfect movie followed by an vastly inferior sequel
where as for terminator the first one was worse but got a vastly superior masterpiece of an sequel
Robocop 2>Terminator 2
Robocops biggest weakness was that the lead was impersonal and stiff, his humanity was question the whole movie by both the other characters and the audience.
The second movie remedied that by putting the supporting characters in bigger roles. That way the city as a whole became the main character, making it a way more effective dystopia. Terminator 2 was a great action movie but a subpar "dystopia". Both the government (The mayor), the private police force and the drug cartels feed off each other and the whole house of cards comes crashing down in the end and the last line of robocop ties back to his humanity and is a perfect ending. It's a good movie and you should rewatch/see it.
While I agree it never needed a sequel, I still like RoboCop 2 a lot. It's not quite on par with the quality of the original but it's a pretty good imitation. Also Kane is objectively a far better villain than Clancy and his thugs.
Clancy is a great villain because he’s original and genuine. He’s not a cheap super powered bad guy villain. I don’t know who Kane is but I just know that he sucks bad because you like him
I never knew before the internet how Murphy gradually became more humanized again throughout the movie. On a visual level. When he fights the ED-209 you see an eye through the visor. At the end the boss of OCP asks: " What's your name son?' "Murphy". And the boss is a hero.
The second one is really good.
I forgot, until I read it on a youtube comment, but yeah, the third movie is a pilot for the television show.
Congratulations anon. I remember when I was a young shit poster just like you. We used to call OP funny names: Black person, homosexual. Once I even called him... cuck. But there was always respect. And always knew where the line was drawn. And you just stepped over it buddy-boy! You've insulted me and you've insulted this thread with that bastard post of yours!
Beyond based. I miss stop motion. I don’t care what any one says. Terminator looks creepy as frick in first one. Horror movies mimic the creepy stop motion movement. Ring b***h for example. They purposely took clips of film out when she moved. How got jerky movement. And Lee did same thing when stop motioned The Hulk. He said purposely mimicking original stop motion King Kong’s movements
The important themes are not resolved in the former, but are in the latter
Also like the other anon said, Verhoeven was doing Total Recall, and honestly I'd rather have Total Recall than an unnecessary Robocop sequel even with Verhoeven in charge. Cameron only came back to Terminator because he needed a hit after THe Abyss flopped, but he used lots of good ideas for T1 that he scrapped because they weren't feasible at the time.
>they weren't feasible at the time.
In the first terminator, two resistance travelerers were supposed to go back. And one of them would materialize in the middle of a firestairs. A bit more David Croneberg. The technology and budget werent there.
They did that in 'Dark Fate' where Grace materialized in a road. And the bad guy materializes in mid air. I thought that was a cool touch. Coordinates stay the same, but there could be a building or some stairs there, thirty years ago. I thought that was a cool concept. And regardless of what you think of 'Dark Fate', there was some fan service in there.
So it was instant death.
It says something about Cameron's ambition.
The kid in Robocop 2 was great.
He was choking Lewis, selling drugs, firing a machinegun at cops, dismantling Robocop, Robocop held his hand when he died. "You know what dying feels like don't you? It sucks.
robocop is a perfect movie. a sequel was doomed from the start. i do love scene with the kid and the mayor where caine shows up and the lights go out though, that was scary as a kid
>filename
>homosexual
Every single time.
Paul Verhoven went on to other projects while Cameron continued it. Studio decided to do Robocop sequel anyway with Verhoven
Was Verhoven even interested in doing a part 2? He never does sequels
He was not interested back then and was working on Total Recall at the time
>Was Verhoven even interested in doing a part 2? He never does sequels
He didn't even want to make the first film because he hated the script (it was one of those that had been passed around a bunch supposedly) but his wife read it and convinced him to do it because she felt it would fit his dark humor.
it never needed a sequel to begin with
When I saw it as a kid and Robocop on his motorcycle was going against Caine in his truck, I thought they ripped it off from T2.
I saw Robocop 2 earlier than I saw T2.
*T2 earlier than I saw Robocop 2
>Robocop 2 1990
>Terminator 2 1991
Should’ve got
I beat this game, on Sega Master System.
Which plot line was it. Robocop vs Terminators and the going into future and destroying Skynet? Or John Connor sending Robocop//Terminator back to destroy the Robocop program to prevent Skynet?

That’s the original one
I’d watch a full lengthy CGI movie with both actors doing the voices
>I’d watch a CGI movie with full length actors doing each other
Robocop gets stuck behind a pole in the second one. Arnie does the same in T3
Imagine if Verhoeven and Cameron would've teamed up.
> I thought they ripped it off from T2.
Everyone forget he used a motorcycle in T1? With synth da-da-da chase music
I don't like people who say "how come" instead of "why".
How come?
It sounds childish and uneducated. Not to mention the emphasis in conversation is on "come" not "how" which is both illogical and lewd.
'Why' can come off as blunt and challenging, like a demand for a justification. 'How come' is softer, and sounds more like asking someone to help you understand something. Either one can lead someone to realise they're incorrect, which is useful when working with neurotic dickheads who can't stand losing face but make moronic suggestions in group meetings.
>the emphasis in conversation is on "come" not "how"
Maybe you're around a lot of ESLs. Normally the emphasis is on "how."
>HOW come
>how COME
perhaps it is you who are around the ESLs
Y tho?
this, my dad beat that shit out of me
How come doesn’t always mean exactly the same thing as why doe. Let’s look at some examples

>why it couldn’t get its own Terminator 2 type sequel?
are you moronic?
>It couldn't of gotten it's own Terminator 2-type sequel? Why?
FTFY
you don't need to fix it for me. I was illustrating how moronic it is to just replace "how come" with "why"
>couldn't of
I really am sharing a board with ESLs.
>missed the "gotten it's"
I love midwits who think their smart
"It's" is correct, pseud.
i was watching shit about rome yesterday and one ep was narrated by nimoy, the next was hosted by weller. it was comfy
because for robocop the first one was already an perfect movie followed by an vastly inferior sequel
where as for terminator the first one was worse but got a vastly superior masterpiece of an sequel
I strongly disagree with this. T1 is a masterpiece. T2 is action fun but a step down
T1 should've been an dream sequence the T800 sees in T2 after John hacks his cpu
T1 was a lovestory.
T2 was a summer blockbuster.

terminator 2 is a gay ass kids movie
robocop and robocop 2 are way better than Terminator 2
>robocop 2
>way better than Terminator 2
Jesus fricking christ

One of the dumbest things I’ve read on here in a while

BITCHES LEAVE
Robocop 2 was badass though
Stop motion slop
Wonder why they did stop motion. CGI was breaking out at that time. The Abyss, obviously T2.
Congratulations anon. I remember when I was a young shit poster just like you. We used to call OP funny names: Black person, homosexual. Once I even called him... cuck. But there was always respect. Stop motion Ed 209 has forever etched in my mind as the pinnacle of man made industrial horror.
It looks better than the indian made CGI slop of today.
Terminator was open-ended, Robocop was not
The important themes are not resolved in the former, but are in the latter

The second time traveller was supposed to arrive and get fused with the fire escape. Like 'The Fly'.
So it was instant death.
It says something about Cameron's ambition.
The kid in Robocop 2 was great.
He was choking Lewis, selling drugs, firing a machinegun at cops, dismantling Robocop, Robocop held his hand when he died. "You know what dying feels like don't you? It sucks.
The bad guys were going to make their own Robocop. A bunch of junkies cutting up a crooked cop. Caine grabbed his head and made him watch.
Yeah dude, Robocop 2 has so much going for it.
Robocop 2 is a lot more gruesome than the original, at least
The frick it is. They didn’t even show anything
>failed robocop prototypes killing themselves in horror of what they have become
jesus christ n-word hoven
Doesn't look like Caine
Robocop 3 had the chase scene in the indescribable pimp mobile
The sequel is kino. The fug u talkin' 'bout?
Because Orion was broke as hell by the time the sequels were made.
Didn't need one, they got it perfect the first time.
robocop is a perfect movie. a sequel was doomed from the start. i do love scene with the kid and the mayor where caine shows up and the lights go out though, that was scary as a kid
