How come we don't get anime and cartoon crossovers? People would watch it.

How come we don't get anime and cartoon crossovers? People would watch it. Either in comic/manga form or cartoons, it never happens. Why? What's stopping DC from having a Goku meets Superman comic?

Copyright laws. Many creators on both sides of the puddle would love to do it, but the rights holders are so severely israeli that the prospect of losing out on any % of the profits is too great a loss.
It's why crossovers typically stick to works within an umbrella.

This. A Marvel vs Capcom comic/manga would be friggin awesome but it probably won't happen due to what you said.

Because Japanese media companies have historically been very unwilling to play ball with foreign companies and they make demands that foreign companies find unreasonable (because they are). American media companies are more than happy to let Japanese creatorsd do their own thing with their IP (like the many Japanese Spider-Man and Batman manga), but the Japanese do not reciprocate.

That's bad for some thing but it's also good for others. Imagine if every iconic manga or anime was prostituted out in the west and had 10 western spin offs. Having some restrains on your IP is a good thing.

Transformers is an American brand. The Japanese had the Diaclone and Micro Change toylines, Hasbro took the toy designs and then created a new IP and with Marvel Comics' helped created original lore and characters.

Because most modern western companies are run by idiots. It's the same reason why we haven't had a DC and Marvel crossover in the past 2 decades. If a company can't make all the money why would they do something.

Just remember that when anime fans say that Japs hate current day cartoons, they aren't actually Japanese, they're just weaboos who really wanna be Japanese but aren't.

Battletech (Tabletop Game) bought the rights to use a bunch of Japanese mecha designs, but then ran into legal trouble for like 20 years and only in the last 5 got the rights to finally use them again.

Look at this thing, Marauder, it's literally just the Zentradi Officer's battle pod like what gigachad Khyron piloted.

The Japanese are incredibly difficult to work with. While I feel dirty saying it this is honestly because they are an almost comically ethnocentric people and generally would rather do things their own way in their own self-contained market than adapt to business practices of the rest of the world and thus increase their reach enormously.

You ever notice that Japanese movies ALL uniformly suck except in like one and a half genres? What was the last live-action Japanese film you saw that was good, Kurosawa did it right? That was probably 70 years ago. My grandfather was younger than I am now the last time the Japanese made a good movie. This is because their practices are fricking autistic and they refuse to learn from the people who actually know what they're doing.

There's a lot of irony in this given the impact of Disney stuff on Anime so I think it's a more recent development, but it's not necessarily a glitch, more of a feature, because it gives the Japanese a unique style that stands out.
