How could DC have saved the Flash?
It got good reviews but didn't connect with audiences.

Should they have gone more lighthearted to compete with the MCU and add in more quips and cameos and some "girl power" moments for Supergirl?

Or should they have gone more dark like the Snyder Cut?

      >It got good reviews

it got 63% from all critics and 48% from top critics on RT, which is the opposite of good reviews, it just means it got mediocre score overall and there were a lot of low-audience review sites that RT indexes who gave it higher scores

      >but didn't connect with audiences.

again, RT gave it 83%, which is the opposite of not connecting with audiences if we believe that number wasn't gamed

incidentally, WB Discovery owns Rotten Tomatoes

      this

That wasn't going to work in this case

WBD wrote off 3.5 billion dollars last year, much of it from movies that were as-complete as The Flash was at that time, ie waiting for reshoots and the effects teams to finish

they could have dumped it at any time

why would that be needed? he was already proven innocent months ago

really? must have missed where he went to court and was found to be innocent

do you understand what due process is or are you just here to shittalk

But Anon, you’re the one who doesn’t know what due process is. The allegations against Ezra weren’t lodged in any official criminal fashion, just hearsay via pathless “restraining orders” that were all thrown out of a local court anyway.
What other process is there to carry out?

83% is low for capeshit, but anyway, the BO total and the abysmal drops are a much better indicator. Yeah, shit didn't connect with anyone, critics or audiences.

Also, saw a clip in twatter where you can notice Keaton's wig.

There's no saving Flash. Ezra's performance as an awkward loser put me off, but not as much as having to look at his goblin face the whole runtime. I only stuck it out for Keaton and that their Supergirl is surprisingly attractive.

    By not interfering at all.

The sheer amount of directors and re-writes the movie went through because of "creative differences" is fricking insane. The fact that you agreed to have his FIRST solo movie be Flashpoint is hilariously dumb. They should've started smaller, like The Flash of Two Worlds, have them team-up against his classic villains, then just market Gunn's DCU as Earth-2. When you get the legs going, then fold "Prime Earth" actors into Earth-2. They're both played by Ezra anyway, so why does it matter?

Sure, it's detached on what Earth-2 actually is, but their adaptation of Flashpoint is so loose from the source anyway that changing what Earth-2 is shouldn't be that much of a stretch at this point.

They chose Flashpoint because it had only just happened a couple of years before the film was greenlit. They could have just had him going up against Cold with maybe a tease of Reverse Flash at the end and saved Flash of Two Worlds for later and built it properly, but no. The fact that between being greenlit and being released they had a 9 season show on about the Flash didn't help either.

lmao we all know ezra is still a psychopath cultist who kidnaps people and has done god knows what else.
no amount of paying off the legal system removes a taint like that.
especially for an actor whose image is everything.
the fact he even got away just proves how corrupt our law is.

They couldn't. Republicans hated it because Zack Snyder was gone and Ezra Miller goes by They/Them. Democrats hateed it because Ezra Miller is crazy and beats up woman.

Done what they did with Wonder Woman and Aquaman and made basic stories that focused on the lead character and their established supporting characters/villains instead of going full blown morono with every aspect of it. Yeah Ezra Miller's a shitheap, but the Wonder Woman movie made me not hate Gal Godot, and the Aquaman movie is the DCAU's only bonafide real success so far (which of course means they tossed out everything good about it, like they did with WW84).

Did you watch the movie? Because it’s a Flash movie at its core. The cameos only serve to further the plot for Barry himself. Sure people can criticize them not using more Flash characters, but it’s silly to say it’s not a Flash movie.

apart from ditching the mid criminal actor
They should have picked literally *any* other story, than the Flash's biggest and most recognized story.

Opting to then butcher the storyline to ripoff No Way Home with a bunch of OLD, CRUSTY, and frankly BAD Batman cameos.

If Cosmic Book News report is any indication, By simply releasing the Pam Abdy and Mike DeLuca regime cut.

Yeah they should've just done that. Even if we knew Henry Cavill was not gonna come back, it would've been a way to wrap everything up, and then do a reboot without having to reference it.

Hell, if they didn't want to tease other films they could just do the Abdy/DeLuca regime ending, remove the Affleck post-credits teaser, and use the Barry/Arthur post-credits scene from the theatrical version.

It's a fricking motion picture just make a good fricking movie

        >it got good reviews
no, it's shit, the trailer alone is a fricking ugly mess that plays like the 5th sequel to movies that don't exist

James Gunn really is DC's saving grace because he's demonstrably not a fricking moron when it comes to making a meat-and-potations actual fricking MOVIE unless these brain rotted executives try to frick with his shit like they've done with pretty much anything else

    >How could DC have saved the Flash?
Release it five years earlier, and have Grant Gustin play Barry. Give it a $50 million budget (about the same as an entire CW season). Guaranteed to bring in everyone who watches the show, while also cross-promoting it to a new audience.

Hollywood's obsession with blockbusters would never allow this to happen, though.
