It really isn't. Yes, the main dude is gay, but that's really not the focus of the movie. I usually hate that kind of crap, but tolerated it this time because they didn't shove it down my throat. Fun movie tbh.

That definitely happens but I wouldn’t underestimate the effect of the entire media establishment telling kids being gay and trans is cooler than being normal. Look at the wigger epidemic amongst schoolchildren earlier this century.

it's not a steampunk setting
It's an odd hybrid of fantasy/futurepunk if anything. The setting was interesting but crippled by the obnoxious characters and tokenized story.
It sounds like in a better world the writer of that shit was executed by being dragged by horses.
