Anecdotally speaking, it's one of the few (animated) shows I've heard talked about rather frequently with a positive light. Critics like it—it's got near universal acclaim on metacritic and rotten tomatoes. It has high audience scores. It's consistently in high amount of views per calculated demand expressions by third parties. It's won several awards. It's an objectively successful show with regular praise. It can't all be hate watching. "Normies" like it. Unironically go touch grass, maybe even pet a cow.
As for the "ugly" art style, it's very obviously so that they don't go objectifying minors.
