the final season was so bad, so insultingly bad, that everyone walked away. The real villains in all of this are the show runners who were so eager to leave this show and go work on their star wars project that they just stopped giving a frick. Which is funny cause their star wars project got canned.

I'm actually kind of proud of the normies for this one. They accept so much shit being shoveled down their throats, I was amazed this one actually made them angry

normies mostly behave en masse because of fear of being ostracized not because they suddenly develop greater taste overnight.

Still, it had to go from everyone loving it even though it was already shit to everyone hating it when it was really, really shit. They haven't done that for Marvel or Star Wars. Maybe they're just about getting there for Doctor Who.

it's because new waves of fans were still picking up the show as late as season 6 (hence large numbers of morons thinking Battle of Bastards is the best ep - it was the first season finale they watched as it was airing). that meant when season 6 aired all the new fans had the same experience at the same time.

v.s. various other shows where only people who are already pretty heavily invested are going to watch, so the max damage to the IP is limited.

              >that meant when season 6 aired all the new fans had the same experience at the same time.

I meant to say season 8 in this sentence.

They didn't even realise it was bad by Season 6 at the very least. They are stupid

It pissed off everyone, the normalgays didn’t like how they handled Dany. People who recognized the show had declined but still watched it for the white walker conclusion and Jamie also hated how they were handled

    1) GRRM started writing the show in 1991. as late as 1993 he thought he was writing a trilogy. We know he had the show's ending planned from around that time.
    2) But as he wrote the story developed in ways he didn't ancitipate: he made Dany too sympathetic and the world in general way more politically realistic. So the ending he's been writing towards no longer fits the story he wrote.
    3) After ADWD in 2011 he couldn't ignore this any more. But instead of changing his planned ending he just didn't write anything for five years.
    4) D&D are hacks who just assumed that the ending would work like the Red Wedding because GRRM came up with it.

I never watched GoT, never seen a single episode.

What was it about the final season that was so shit, exactly?

It was rushed, destroyed character arcs, had shit dialogue and avoidable mistakes like the famed Starbucks cup.

Everything that was set up ggrough the series was either disappointing or had no psy off. It just ends with a nonsendical wet fart

The series had been steadily chipping away at its own foundations since season four, and the final season was the point it could no longer hold.
The reason it got buried so hard was because when everyone looked back, they realised that they were just forgiving shit writing under the assumption there was a non existent master plan.

My wife and I started watching the series. We havent seen it before but we remember the time of the final season where everyone was crazy about it. I remember clearly that they loved it until it ended. Then, people started to say it sucked.

Did normies really think it sucked or because social media told them that it sucked?

I don't understand how GoT ever took off. I watched the first episode and the show didn't grab me. Maybe I'm moronic.

      Many such cases.
Literally no one says it's the best show just after watching the 1st episode.
You've got to continue. At least for 1 season.
The Peak of the series is around season 3 to season 6.

I've watched 2 seasons of GoT and felt it was boring as frick. The only interesting character was the kid as the king and they killed him off. Never understood the hype for this trash.

i'm a stickler for finishing things, i've dropped maybe 10 movies in the past 10 years, even if i don't like it. but man, TV is easy to quit. I stopped watching after the guy came back to life, don't even know how the show ended.

Same, I always watch everything till the end but GoT, Dexter and Mr Robot made me think "why the frick am I wasting my life on this drek"

Yep, only shows that stayed relevant are the shows made before Netflix and similar services started flooding the market

Instead of having good writing it relied on shocking moments and cliff-hangers.
    You remember who shot JR?
