ACKTUALLY- the high point of TNG timeline was the 2 parter Best of Both Workds which went on to shape every captain and Admiral that came after it, tormenting every officer and captain, Locutus of Borg, which was the Borg version of Captain Picard, who would spend the rest of his career and retirement tormented by Locutus of Borg and what he did at the battle of wolf 359.

Insurrection was a dud and Nemesis was so badly received the TNG cast got dumped, the movies were shelved for 7 years, and when they did make another it was a reboot.
No idea why Insurrection was a movie in the first place. It could have easily made for a two-parter with such a forgettable and inconsequential premise.
It looked like one too. Frakes directed parts of First Contact with real flair, but Insurrection looked like a TV production.
