Your first four points are spot on, but best characters? Really? The only Tekkaden characters people liked were Orga and space Guts. All of the other likeable characters were not Tekkaden members, such as Naze or Gaelio or Julietta. Also, the intrigue did boil down to "government bad".

Actually, Mika ain't all that bad. But compared to actual gundam protags its kinda sad.
I think he’s pretty alright as a protagonist, the only mistake he made was following someone with no idea how to put their foot down. Mikazuki has a character and it’s as simple as he wants to live a simple life, When he’d given the chance to do things like a normal person, he takes them, the issue is that he’s too good of a soldier and Orga is misguiding in what he thinks Mika wants. The scene after Biscuit dies and when Tekkadan starts going downhill shows why Mika might seem worse than others and it’s because he’s directly tied down to Orga as his tardwrangler but more often than not, it’s Mika who’s influencing Orga’s choice. I don’t think he’s the best protagonist and he definitely is lower on the ranks for a Gundam protag but that’s just because most of them are pretty good characters. Mika’s main fault being an intentional one and that while he knows what he wants, Orga can’ read him as well as he would like to and pushes Mika into being a weapon more than just being some guy.
I think Orga is legit have schizophrenic and Mika is his biggest symbol of it.
He afraid of Tekkadan would be fractured and rebelled the moment he backdown a little bit
Orga is also fall into both pressure and guilt for other member after Biscuit death while the guilt is growing even bigger thanks to Naze's death and Mika becoming even more crippled after Hashmal

I like him. The thing about him is that he has no character development because he's already a developed character. Most of the scenes that shows his personality is about how characters are surprised that there's more to him than the typical elite soldier character. Mika just like any of the child soldiers in the show is a character of circumstances. If he didn't need to fight to survive and carry the whole group, he wouldn't have such a moronic personality.

We still do. Outside of the brutal melee combat and wide involvement of child soldiers, the show wasn't very good at all. I wouldn't call it the worst AU show (Destiny is still the reigning champ for that), but it's certainly solidly in the bottom 50%.

Solid main cast of flawed characters who you get to watch fall apart due to these flaws.
Even people like Shino no one cares about can be pointed to as a character who acts logically in the moment who's actions cause a further spiral of Tekkadan's fall. Anyone who thinks otherwise just didn't understand the characters. Only problem I had was how they ended Tekkadan's last gasps with toothpicks from space that's a bullshit ending even though they should have still lost there.

Can't really comment since I only just started watching IBO. Eleven episodes in, good so far. Most I can say is it switches up the usual Gundam main cast dynamics from everyone on the ship constantly being at each others and being super standoffish (Best example of this is Zeta) to everyone actually trying to work together because their life depends on it, which is a nice change to have after having primarily watched UC.
Also, where's Biscuit in that pic? He's my favorite of the main cast so far.

Season2's first half is really weak for me. There's an arc there where they tried to make you care for certain characters but failed to make me care. It might just because I dozed off because I couldn't grasp the situation.
Regardless, the worst sin for season 2 was the new characters because they never get fleshed out and are so one dimensional that they're just annoying when they show up. The only good character was the main antagonist and maybe the two supporting characters.
I will bathe in the blood of Zoomers. When the civil war breaks out I will build a throne out of Zoomer skulls. I will not hand the future of my country over to you.

If you watch the last episode the lyrics of the opening song perfectly match what is happening on screen in their last battle. I thought that was a neat touch.
I liked it when they made this guy the main antagonist for a few episodes. A man who dresses like this is clearly confident in his own abilities.

If you want to watch IBO when watch G-Witch first so that your quality standards will be below ground level and nothing else will disappoint you.
