I just find it weird. It’s not a superhero movie and I don’t really think it’s like a special original movie with memeable stuff like say blade runner 2049. It’s similar to all those science horror space movies. And It flopped when it came out

It’s not even that popular and most people didn’t like it because they didn’t explain how the alien was actually but how a decon was created

this, it only killed its own intended trilogy

financially it was still a moderate success

there is no reason for an astronaut to take off their helmet in space or a surgeon/dentist to take off their mask when operating. That is basic sterile practice

The computer said the air was breathable lil bro

Breathable doesn't mean there isn't any radiation and there aren't deadly alien pathogens in the air.

I’m sure it accounts for that as well, the technology was very advanced you should be asking why they didn’t wear space suits in the sequel initially because that planet didn’t seem like a dead world

How would a computer account for completely unknown alien things that no one could have ever programmed it to detect?

It would say unknown pathogen detected these people traveled millions of miles in space that is completely unfathomable currently

because the had biometric data and it was basically like earth

I liked it. It's frustrating how shitty the screenplay is, but it still looks beautiful and has unique atmosphere.
The same is true for Covenant, but that one was somewhat even dumber.

reddit was ferrous over this but the reality is scientists are fricking stupid and do stupid shit like pick up aliens and play with them
it's the same hubris that created the kung flue

A real scientist would have complained that it's cold and his feet hurt and go back to the ship immediately.

both were clunky rehashes of the previous films but with interesting additions
I particularly liked David plotline and the atmosphere from covenant
and it sucks we will never get a sequel with David going ham on a colony ship

unfortunately they had interesting ideas trapped in the carcasses of even worse ideas wrapped in a bad script with studio meddling on top

rewatching Prometheus brings home how dumb it really was. David was pretty much the only good thing about it.

Nobody in the movie actually got sick or died as a result of that, though. So they weren’t wrong.

This is a thing in every sci-fi ever. Nobody complains that characters in Star Trek don't wear helmets when entering a new planet.

Star Trek crews visit new planets with alien life every day.
They got all kinds of magic technology to deal with it.

In Prometheus alien life was supposed to be a brand new discovery.
