The awesome intro, and before the internet kids were more easily impressionable.

      > before the internet kids were more easily impressionable.
… you think kids with internet access are less impressionable?

Yes. Kids now have more access to all kinds of content, and they are way more cynical

Only thing kids actually want is cool characters and vehicles.

    Memorable villain.
Simple aesthetic that still managed to get a lot of detail.

Despite the limitations of the animation, it had fun characters, some action, goofy jokes that appealed to kids and adults alike and it had a vibrant and colorful world full of magic, wonder and action. Like, compared to recent shows, it’s just another old toy selling show, but at the time it was different from what kids can find on TV. It was either educational shows or reruns of old Hanna Barbera and Disney shit. He-Man was a bit different, and it ushered in the inclusion of similar shows like Transformers, GI Joe, Dungeons and Dragons and so on. She-Ra did the same thing, but for girls. He-Man should be a timeless property, but they’ve missed the mark so hard. There should video games and shit of this character and his and his sister world. Like, when the Netflix She-Ra and the other two Netflix He-Man shows came out, why didn’t they have, like, a video game tie-in or some comics as it was coming out? The She-Ra show had comics AFTER it was over. He-Man had like ONE tie-in comic and that’s it. Kids these days don’t buy toys like kids did decades ago, but they will have their parents pay out if their ass for a video game or a Fortnite skin or something.

I get convinced that “It’s a toy commercial” gets used by people who didn’t actually watched the show. The show really took the Filmation method of taking limitations and finding ways to improve on the writing and character interactions. Bravestarr followed the same method.
In fact, Filmation in general produced some really solid content outside of the DC stuff.
      >He-Man
      >Bravestarr
      >Space Sentinels
      >Star Trek Animated

Because the show’s legit good, and crying “toy commercial” does not hand wave that.
The characters have great interactions, the plots are inventive and creative, plenty of fun characters without toys were made to expand the world, and the morals are really wholesome and entertaining to watch.

It's a bad show, but the characters are all memorable and easily-digested by kids, and the toys themselves were extremely popular (until they weren't).

Because if you compare it to the other cartoons airing on American TV from 1982 and earlier, it was far more action packed, imaginative, and entertaining than anything else on at the time. Imagine you are a child, and all that you have to watch on tv are goofy Scooby Doo rip offs, crappy edutainment, or reruns of older shows. Then you flip the channel and suddenly see a musclebound barbarian, riding a fricking armored tiger, hacking up robots, and doing battle with a man whose face is melted off. When you consider that the primary motivation of the show was just to sell hunks of plastic, you come to appreciate the sincere amount of effort that the writers and voice cast put into the show. The animation may have been janky but the character designs, backgrounds, stories, and overall quality was a hell of a lot better than 99% of the alternatives on tv at the time. On that note, it was also exponentially more action packed and exciting than previous children’s cartoons. It might seem hilarious to us looking back now, but He-Man was actually attacked by parents groups not just for being a glorified toy commercial but for the level of violence depicted. Even without He-Man being allowed to punch or stab any human character, he regularly used physical force to solve his problems and defeat evil. As such, many parents considered it one of the most violent shows for children ever created. So despite its obvious flaws, it was still more exciting, colorful, imaginative, and better voice acted than any other animated series in the USA. I feel like the best way to understand why kids loved He-Man is to watch several hours of terrible late 70s/early 80s kids’ shows and then switch to He-Man. It may be hokey and extremely dated but if you are examining it contextual to the time it was created, it was legitimately an amazing show for American kids.

It was for little kids not for underdeveloped adults like yourself.

You need to look at it through kids’ eyes.

It's a campy fun show that doesn't take itself seriously, wouldn't be surprised if all of these abridged youtube shows were inspired by He-Man given they have the exact same comedy style.
Sometimes feels like I am on drugs when watching this show.

The toys and comic books came out two years earlier and were already very popular.
