He's not a meathead. He's a very intelligent and creative individual. Go watch his old interviews. He's incredibly well spoken and articulate. He's not a meathead by any stretch. He wrote his best and most famous movies and his directorial efforts have been good, too. He's writing a new actioner for Statham who he looks at as his successor and I'm excited to watch it.
First Blood, too. He made Rambo. The nobody author who wrote the original miseryporn novel can get fricked.
Eh, they just know their bread and butter and cater to the people who pay to watch their films. Statham is actually a great performer. Go watch London and Revolver. For a street scammer, he has great acting ability.

Stallone is awesome. Rocky movies, Rambo, Cobra, Demolition Man, Judge Dredd, Tango and Cash, Cop Land, etc. the list of kino is endless
All these plus more.
Stallone is not just you're average Italian-American buffoon Hollywood star like Cocaine Pacino or De Nero, he's actually a talented person who (and this is his most important quality) actually understands filmmaking, the audience and how to create a masterpiece with very little handed to him by writers and/or producers.
Which is why the Arnie v. Sly comparison was always stupid. Arnie is the meathead, Joe Weider's bussyboy who got far by being buff and muscular and playing a caricature of himself in various shades since at least Commando (1985).
On the contrast, Stallone (while not the greatest of actors) has more range and kino-making mindset. If Stallone was born 40 years later he'd be Eggers.
Anyone who's lived a little will meet people who seem like idiots or mid from the outset, but are far more intelligent than any nerd in a suit when it comes to important areas of their lives. Being smart is more than just looking like a nerd.
Love the Stallone appreciation here. Extremely thoughtful man if you've ever heard and interview of him and one of the best embodiments of the term "filmmaker" that we've seen. Truly understands every level of production and how important they all are. As has already been said Rocky is one of the most soulful and beautiful films ever made.
The original Rambo is also extremely thoughtful and well done. The first Creed was also very good and heartfelt despite having no business being that way. All of the first 4 rockies are good. They just become a different kind of movie after the second, which while not as good as the first, is still relatively serious in tone and well acted and written.
Although you could say even regular joes were more articulate back then, he was something else. The way he spoke and used his words was incredibly engaging. Sly had seen life's hardships and pulled off an impossible dream so his words carry weight and he speaks out of a position of true perseverance and experience. Comparing Arnie to him is almost a disservice.
Bro most of the movies hes in he literally wrote or rewrote the script because he understands at the end of the day the audience is there to be entertained people think hes dumb because of the way he talks but hes not
Exactly. People say he took the action star route too soon and that he had it in him to make movies more like Rocky but action movies for fathers to watch are, ironically enough, the most watched and enjoyed cinema all around the world. Why do you think Liam Neeson makes all those actioners? Action movies are easy money but also serve the only purpose most movies have which is to entertain.
His films are cheesy, naff clunky and laboured, but great fun to watch. If Rocky was released today there would be a hate campaign against it on the internet, because no film less than perfect can be allowed to exist these days.
He wrote Rocky, one of the greatest films of all time

>Rewriting others creations its ok when I say so
>Statham who he looks at as his successor
he might be a meathead after all
Eh, they just know their bread and butter and cater to the people who pay to watch their films. Statham is actually a great performer. Go watch London and Revolver. For a street scammer, he has great acting ability.
He has that tone of voice with a nasal quality that people associate with being dumb, but is actually smart and intelligent.
you work for me now
All these plus more.

Stallone's gigantic ego made a lot of his acting roles much worse.
Imagine how much better he could have been if he had toned his ego down a little bit.
Stallone hasn't made the best use of his talents in a long time though
He's literally a creative genius THOUGH
He has a distinctive look and voice.
Because he's not just a meat head. He wrote Rocky and delivered several good perfromances.

>he thinks he's just a meathead
Well well look at Mr. Gucci loafers.
man he looks cool
he has a israeli mother
Hollywood is 50% israeli, 25% Aussie and 25% British.

Weird how nobody brings up anything else he did except for Rocky 1. It's almost like Stallone lucked out and has coasted on that since then.
Weird how everyone mentions Rambo and you just skip over it trying to make a point...
Now look up his attitude changes after Rambo. Oh, he became a humongous narcissist? His ego skyrocketed? He became an butthole diva? Say it ain't so.

Interesting interview with him, don't expect him to be so articulate

It's two different types of roads they've been down. Both hard and admirable
I though demolition man was popular on Cinemaphile?
It's simple: he's not a meathead but pretty intelligent.
remember in the first Rocky movie he was basically like mentally moronic.
as opposed to rocky V where he builds a particle collider to agility train?

He’s israeli.
That explains why he's so intelligent and talented
If Stallone's so great, how did he manage to frick up 'The Expendables' so badly? Total unmemorable garbage.
Have you tried not being so fricking stupid?
>How did this total meat-headed moron have such an amazing career? It's even more baffling than Keanu
His films are cheesy, naff clunky and laboured, but great fun to watch. If Rocky was released today there would be a hate campaign against it on the internet, because no film less than perfect can be allowed to exist these days.
Wtf are you talking about? Modern movies are complete dogshit on average and are widely celebrated as masterful social art
