What's the point of praying if God can already read your thoughts and it's obvious anyway that you don't want your house and family destroyed by natural disasters? God just enjoys hearing you beg and plead?
God wants to have a relationship with humans while also affording us free will. Prayer allows us to speak with God in order to maintain that relationship while also giving us the ability to request he intercede of our behalf at times. God allows evil and death to exist in the world because he wants us to have free will and that necessitates he remain hidden from us. Of an all powerful deity we’re floating in the sky for all to see, then by default everyone would be forced to obey him like robots out of fear.
