I like the part in clash of titans where he fricks those fat titted prostitutes in the bath house while a giant golden golem is destroying the city.

Not even close homosexual.
They might share similar themes, but that's were it ends.
Just because Kane & Lynch features heists doesn't mean it's anything comparable to Heat.
And Indiana Jones wasn't exactly the first and only story of a fictional archaeologist. Uncharted is much better and tells the story of a thief/ treasure hunter.

I haven't played games since GTA 6 launched, with exception to God of War and Uncharted 4.
Gaming is for kids and an absolute waste of time. That said, the games I played as a kid were kino af.
I will never forget playing Gears of war for the first time or Assassin's Creed 1/2.
Modern Hollywood can't come close to that level without inserting woke shit or pushing some cliche tropes.

this game does not get enough love. If there was one game I'd show someone that had never played a video game before, or did not think they had any value, I'd show them this game. Particularly the part with the son working in the cannery.
Then it's still more than double the box office, you moron
this chart is incredibly misleading, first off its including all profits from video games which includes microtransactions and not just straight game sales, and its not counting dvd / VOD sales, licensing deals to streamers / networks / etc., or streaming revenue
> its not counting dvd / VOD sales, licensing deals to streamers / networks / etc., or streaming revenue
Because the graph starts at 0-10b, those figures would be pretty much fixed over the last ten years, are also locked to box office, and not to mention box office is just the most accessible figure
>innovation in storytelling happening in games
This is a joke right?
Like I enjoy video games just fine. But in terms of storytelling games are only marginally better than bathroom graffiti.

What no one likes to admit is women spending power is already completely locked down by the same things it’s been locked down by for most of the century
Vast majority of the vidya moneys is mtx from shit mobile games morons are trapped in. That shit don't count. At least I would feel comfort that cinemachads don't buy tickets for awful movies and then stand up and throw more money at the screen.
morons don't pay to see shit movies multiple times, buy up plastic shit with the movie's name on it, and then go to see all 8 sequels on opening night? thats basically the same thing, on a smaller scale.
didnt that stop being the case after the crypto price hike which made the gap between prebuilts and building yourself a LOT smaller to the point that some prebuilts are more cost effective
Sort of, GPU prices went completely insane so the total price for a pre-built was reasonable by comparison but the stores also took their GPUs and made way more rigs than normal because they took advantage of the fact that the miners would gladly pay the extra money for the ram, cpu, motherboard, etc. So the price to upgrade from a 980 to a 3070 was not 2000 dollars rather than 750 or whatever the 3070 was supposed to cost at retail.
Movie tickets should cost more. Makes no sense that people will pay $20 for popcorn and drinks but cringe at paying $15 to see the movie. Theaters would be kino again with all the brokies and teenagers having to find something else to do.
I agree. I used to love going to the movies until it became a daycare for Black folk. The number one reason I don't go anymore is the sheer number of Black folk. The few times a year I do go, I drive over an hour to a small cinema in a rural town just because there aren't any Black folk.

>my goyim entertainment is better than your goyim entertainment
ok, this is not surprising however since games basically encompass every other medium inside: storytelling, visual, music (all mediocre btw)
Okay, so that is a lofty claim but I stand by it. Videogames often require nearly every art form to create, such as: music, drawing/painting (for concept art), digital design, 3D modeling, composing, acting (voice acting and visual acting for mocap which can even include dancing/ballet), film skills (shot composition, lighting, etc), animation, and writing. On top of ALL THAT the director and team have to create their game so that it is interesting to play and so that the story they want to tell still gets told despite player freedom.
Now, just like every other form of art, there arent many truly great examples of this. Like film or music, most games are made just to have a good time and there is nothing wrong with that! However, we all have that one game that just touched the deepest part of our soul. I feel that the immersion you get by actually taking on the form of the character really allows for videogames to uniquely impact the consumer in a way that other mediums often cannot.
They still make movies because it’s MK Ultra for the older generation, the ones raised by TV Congrats on your love affair with your version, the generation raised by the internet. Nothing you see hear, play or listen to is deliver a “good time” it is to extract your wealth and melt your mind
if you read this thread you'd think the only games that exist are gacha, jrpgs and movie games. but then if you name games actually innovating in experimental forms that can't be boiled down to "a text" or "a narrative" so analogously to a feature
film they vomit derogatory buzzwords at you- you don't have to like the games to do analysis and recognize the things games are capable that other multi-media isn't
>gacha, jrpgs and movie gamea
As far as revenue generation goes, those are the only games that exist. It’s made worse by how even indie games copy those or, worse, the VN format.
>the ticket sale is still its most profitable
that is how they get away with releasing absolute shit, you can't know for sure it is shit before seeing it since it would only cost 1% of profits to payoff the reviewers. Most troubling is that the audience still outsource their assessment and opinion to brand and trend, hopefully soon LLMs allow people to interrogate a movie based on their values before it is out.
not really, studios make a lot of money from VOD, a decent chunk from blu rays (for popular things at least, thats why they keep re-releasing the Snyder Cut on various physical mediums) and tons from licensing content. It's practically A24's entire business model, most of their movies dont make much in the box office but they re-coup/mak profit by then selling or licensing the title to a streamer, getting physical sales from their die hard fanbase and doing exclusive merch drops. you really have no idea what you're talking about
Vidya is carried by japan who are unpozzed and based right now while hollywood is woke and losing billions after flops plus strikes. If japan controlled hollywood it wouldnt be so shit.
>as everyone else has said, here's me repeating what everyone has said
Good contribution.
And you're wrong anyway. Nix mobile completely, and console + pc is over double any year film has had
Its been this way for a while but you have to understand its at least partially because videogamers are some the biggest fricking cucks in the entire consumer landscape.
Many put even the most embarrassing capeshit loving funko pop collecting "cinephiles" to shame, their brains have been completely taken over by FOMO.
Most don't even seem to really like games that much what they are actually into is buying the new thing. Whatever it is, if they've seen it on a poster or plastered on the side of a bus they gotta have it. Even if they know next to nothing about who made it or what kind of game it even is.
This. The average vidya consumer is the main thing holding back both the artform and the industry. Its weird to play something like new vegas and enjoy it as this thoughtful, interactive commentary on frontier political systems and then realize that most other people playing vidya interact with the medium in this entirely compulsive, dopamine mining fashion. Most gamers are essentially just gambling addicts, buying and consuming anything marketed at them. All the posts I made railing against horse armor in 2006 have amounted to nothing, because the average gamer just wants more of everything. They'll take on disc dlc, battlepasses, loot boxes and all of that predatory bullshit. And now the industry and the games themselves seem more like soulless casinos than the creative playgrounds we used to have.
that's just how marketing works now. the music industry is the same: all the money gets spent on promoting the superstars who already have the most name recognition.
I don’t care too terribly much. Vidya, music, and cinema/television all suck now compared to what came before for a variety of reasons. Whoever makes the most money is meaningless.
I tried to get back to vidya and play all the classics. I did the same with movies. But while silent movies were pretty fun to watch, NES games are either too hard or too boring. I don't even feel like continuing this quest.
Professional videogame industry in similar scale to movies (=each region/country having its own industry) is at best 20 years old. It hasn't even really started. 2020s videogame industry/culture is like 1920s movie industry/culture. Going back is quite pointless.
Ye, you could probably make an argument that vidya's casablanca was on the snes generation. Possibly chrono trigger. But everything before that is just silly nickelodeons tier shit. Maybe your original mario bros would be comparable to fritz lang or charlie chaplin.
>how do cinemacucks cope?
It presents box office as the only means of income of film, which is as moronic as anyone who doesn't immediately recognize that when looking at this. Globally, there's >Physical and digital rental >Physical and digital home sales >Television and streaming licensing >Assorted merchandising
and likely numerous I've neglected, forgotten, or never knew of.
Fricking imbeciles.
That's like saying semiconductor industry mogs the concrete industry. It is pointless to compare. Who cares if they are both entertainment -- the medium, artistry, and demographics are nothing alike. If you don't sage your replies you are hurting Cinemaphile.
>Yeah sadly it's the current reality, mobile is king. Core gaming is second class citizen at best.
>People rag on Konami for ditching traditional core gaming, but they also made boatloads of money from mobile and gambling, more than they would get from a Kojima hit.
HAHAHAHAHA. So OP is basically bragging about being exploited?
It would be funny, but most game devs actually look up to and try to emulate hollywood and movies. Boring ass cutscenes everywhere, actors likeness getting used and a shitty obsession with stories and narrative that doesnt
really translate well into games.
You just get the feeling the people working on this shit dont even respect and understand their own medium.
$93 BILLION USD being flushed down the drain on glorified slot machines. It's astounding. How many people are spending all of their money on gacha? How many are in debt over it? That's a huge drain on the global economy. All of that disposable income lit on fire.
>cell phone garbage absolutely destroying real games
That's extremely depressing, don't know why you would reveal that if you actually like video games.
If they're both meant to be marketed as virtual escapes, then films are failing for churning out recent dogshit. Yeah, vidya is pretty mediocre nowadays too, but you can still pick and choose which ones give you your favorite gameplay and more agency as a consumer.
People want to enjoy a mindless power fantasy and films are too preaching now.
Video games suck at this time. I'm not trolling; look at the issues going on for years and how frustrated every 'gamer' is. What they should be doing is taking the stories and designs they use for video games and turning them into TV series or films.
Animated movies would surpass any video game if they just used the same concepts. Better visuals, cinematography, etc.
They want to turn video games into films or compete with them. But if you convince these studios to sell the concepts to film/TV studios that can actually do a good job, then you may be pleasantly surprised.
this would be more accurate if you >removed microtransactions from gaming >removed mobile games >removed DLC >removed monthly memberships (i. e. Playstation plus) >removed indie games >added VOD, streaming, cable subscriptions, dvds, blu ray etc to movies >included every smaller local showing of older films
that way based movies would be on top and video games which are objectively only for non whites and trannies would drop to maybe 1m a year and vidyatrannies can frickin kill themselves
They cope for the financial loss by targeting new demographics, mainly women, non-whites and gays. All the white guys went to games or alternative media. Cinemacucks adapt, overcome.
It's deserved. Vidya isn't as bad as movies but the gap is getting smaller each year. I also lost the perpetual desire to play since I was like 25. Only play one or two games a year nowadays.
the numbers are mindboggling and I don't think that markets/culture/creators have caught up to this imbalance let alone in the innovation in storytelling happening in games

"video game storytelling" right now is just ripping off movies or other video games that were ripping off movies.
“Movie storytelling” until a decade ago was just ripping off books, not it’s ripping off the original work because all that comes out is remakes

Wrong board, Cinemaphileirgin!
>my goyim entertainment is better than your goyim entertainment
ok, this is not surprising however since games basically encompass every other medium inside: storytelling, visual, music (all mediocre btw)
By not being incels
Speak for yourself, norm.
The box office is entirely people paying to watch one movie. Video games is skinner box goyslop people pay for over and over.
How is this beating out movies?
this game feels so empty
so many copy/paste locations
and your ship is basically a flying house you use to fast travel to places
Lasted 5 minutes of the negress haggling me starting off the game
But does gaming consistently remind goy of the holocaust and slavery?
Of course. It's all written by the same California WGA members who write our shit television and movies.
It’s made worse by how even indie games copy those or, worse, the VN format.
>destroys all video game innovation
any game with loot boxes is much worse imo
its more the idea that even if you come up with a great series of ideas for a great game, the chinese knockoff is going to spend more on marketing.
Another one.
Isn't this kind of misleading? What about DVD, Blu Ray sales, streaming, all this stuff? Those are just ticket sales.
This your first time dealing with journalists and statistics? What until we discuss the 6 million
obsolete, tiny, laughable.
the big issue with hollywood is the ticket sale is still its most profitable business model by an absolutely massive margin.
>the ticket sale is still its most profitable
that is how they get away with releasing absolute shit, you can't know for sure it is shit before seeing it since it would only cost 1% of profits to payoff the reviewers.
If japan controlled hollywood it wouldnt be so shit.
if japan controlled hollywood all movies would be hallmark channel tier except for maybe one movie ever two years.
If Japan had a trillion dollar movie industry supported by the most powerful empire in history their movies would probably have higher budgets.
the only time hollywood was "a trillion dollar" industry was the 40s and 50s, and only if you account for inflation.
Just remove that worthless bar for mobile gaming and it seems a lot more fairer and accurate.
No, film must figure out a way to adopt the “innovative storytelling” of charging for a 2% chance to watch one of a hundred ssr movies
As everyone has said, remove the mobile market where all the subhumans play hidden casinos and you get a more even picture.
True up until '20 and '21. We need to see the stats for the past two years, if cinema hasn't recovered then it is truly over.
>as everyone else has said, here's me repeating what everyone has said
Good contribution.
And you're wrong anyway. Nix mobile completely, and console + pc is over double any year film has had
Gacha for movies is yet to be invented.
GOTTA BUILD UP THAT LIBRARY BRO
Modern Hollywood is pretty similar to video games. Vidya industry is based on sequels to popular franchises. Movie industry transformed the same way.
that's just how marketing works now. the music industry is the same: all the money gets spent on promoting the superstars who already have the most name recognition.
BIG GAMER wiener
I don’t care too terribly much. Vidya, music, and cinema/television all suck now compared to what came before for a variety of reasons. Whoever makes the most money is meaningless.
I tried to get back to vidya and play all the classics. I did the same with movies. But while silent movies were pretty fun to watch, NES games are either too hard or too boring. I don't even feel like continuing this quest.
video games only started becoming everlasting classics worth playing whichever year Earthbound came out
You mean Zelda
Professional videogame industry in similar scale to movies (=each region/country having its own industry) is at best 20 years old. It hasn't even really started. 2020s videogame industry/culture is like 1920s movie industry/culture. Going back is quite pointless.
Many SNES games were already pretty good. The lack of saving makes NES games really frustrating.
Ye, you could probably make an argument that vidya's casablanca was on the snes generation. Possibly chrono trigger. But everything before that is just silly nickelodeons tier shit. Maybe your original mario bros would be comparable to fritz lang or charlie chaplin.
God no wonder video games are so shit now, they have to accommodate for everyone
No anon, they don’t have to, they get to!
The dark times were when they had to accommodate… nuh-errrrrrds
>how do cinemacucks cope?
It presents box office as the only means of income of film, which is as moronic as anyone who doesn't immediately recognize that when looking at this. Globally, there's
>Physical and digital rental
>Physical and digital home sales
>Television and streaming licensing
>Assorted merchandising
and likely numerous I've neglected, forgotten, or never knew of.
Fricking imbeciles.
That's like saying semiconductor industry mogs the concrete industry. It is pointless to compare. Who cares if they are both entertainment -- the medium, artistry, and demographics are nothing alike. If you don't sage your replies you are hurting Cinemaphile.
> mobile games bigger than PC/Console
How do VIDYAcucks cope? Kek. Every single vidya manchild considers mobile games to be no-skill goyslop, lmao.
Read their cope for yourself.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/wh7clw/activisionblizzard_made_more_from_mobile_than/
>Yeah sadly it's the current reality, mobile is king.
I think it is good to separate TV and movies. We need to watch hollywood's decline in real time.
This is why movies and TV cater so hard to women now. Men are too busy playing vidya.
>than the box office
what are blu-ray and streaming incl youtube
Also not great. Mobile gaming alone makes more than every bit of movie-related media put together.
If they're both meant to be marketed as virtual escapes, then films are failing for churning out recent dogshit. Yeah, vidya is pretty mediocre nowadays too, but you can still pick and choose which ones give you your favorite gameplay and more agency as a consumer.
People want to enjoy a mindless power fantasy and films are too preaching now.
a new video game is 5x (generously) more than a movie, but gives you way more than 5x the duration of entertainment
But if you convince these studios to sell the concepts to film/TV studios that can actually do a good job, then you may be pleasantly surprised.
the real issue is most of the people working in movies, tv, and video games, shouldn't be working in any of these fields.
this
they're a bunch of blue hairs in love with the idea of themselves as an artist but they don't have a creative bone in their body
Rate my setup, Cinemaphile.
I don't play video games and I don't watch new movies so I don't care
this would be more accurate if you
>removed microtransactions from gaming
>removed mobile games
>removed DLC
>removed monthly memberships (i. e. Playstation plus)
>removed indie games
>added VOD, streaming, cable subscriptions, dvds, blu ray etc to movies
>included every smaller local showing of older films
that way based movies would be on top and video games which are objectively only for non whites and trannies would drop to maybe 1m a year and vidyatrannies can frickin kill themselves
They cope for the financial loss by targeting new demographics, mainly women, non-whites and gays. All the white guys went to games or alternative media. Cinemacucks adapt, overcome.
This. The reason Hollywood doesn't pander to White (and Asian) males is because they're too busy playing CoD or LoL.
It's deserved. Vidya isn't as bad as movies but the gap is getting smaller each year. I also lost the perpetual desire to play since I was like 25. Only play one or two games a year nowadays.
