How do I get into Gundam if I liked Code Geass, Evangelion and Gurren Lagann?
I tried watching the original Gundam anime but I didn't like it?

Too bad
First you need to be older to understand Gundam, like 18.
I'm 18. I appreciate Gundam 0079 from a historical standpoint but just I don't enjoy watching it.
I'll check it out!
>I'm 18
MODS
>I'm 18. I appreciate Gundam 0079 from a historical standpoint but just I don't enjoy watching it.
Unironically filtered. Mecha along with CGDCT are genres for anime veterans, come back after watching more than 500 shows.
>Mecha along with CGDCT are genres for anime veterans
No they're not.
Don't bother, most of it is not good. Try War in the Pocket and if that doesn't do it for ya then maybe watch a different mecha anime.
Samegay.
Gundam's worst is better than your favorite show's best.
breasts
>Code Geass
Gundam 00
>Gurren Lagann
G Gundam
>Evangelion
I don't think there's a Gundam series like this, but I haven't seen every AU
>I don't think there's a Gundam series like this
Turn A or AGE depending on how you look at it
What makes Evangelion unique, anyway? Because Anno had a lot of influnce from Gundam, Amuro and Shinji starts the same, as loners neglected by their fathers who need to man up and face the world. You can also say that Eva is more monster of the week than Gundam, since in Eva they're just defending themselves most of the time while the battles in Gundam lead to different scenarios. Eva only becomes different and psychological in the last part.
I guess Eva has the school setting, so G-Witch? A more depressed character than normal, so SEED? Mechas having weird biological parts and conscience, so G?
>What makes Evangelion unique, anyway?
Pilotable cyborg kaiju
Is more than just Kaiju. The way the plot is structured feels like we are watching a drama between a group of characters, of people, with their own personal problems and their relationships with others. It feels like an introspection of the human psyche and condition.
All while fighting eldrich threats. And these fights, and the lore behind it, do affect the characters and their relationships.
I wonder if a Gundam show can be done like this, minus the Kaiji-alien-Eldrich threat, and replace it with just a war against other humans.
Honestly, I was holding hope G-witch was going to go this route, plus Transhumanism themes.
Waste of potential, it was.
>G-witch, but it goes the dark, introspective, gritty evangelion route.
Would have been better?
>The way the plot is structured feels like we are watching a drama between a group of characters, of people, with their own personal problems and their relationships with others. It feels like an introspection of the human psyche and condition.
I think Gundam SEED fits well in that descritption.
the way you write is obnoxious, especially the way you choose to capitalize words that don't call for it
this paired with the gay opinions expressed in your post has compelled me to call you a homosexual
splendid and virtuous
Zeta especially, but also the original and CCA has a lot of interesting interpersonal drama and dealing with trauma and expectations. The main difference is that Eva has these elements in the foreground while Tomino writes them into the background so you have to pay attention and put effort into understanding the characters.
This thread is obvious bait.
Evangelion is all borrowed ideas and iconography from other shows, with really good presentation and execution and adding depresion and psychoanalysis to that. Anno knows what makes the thing he likes good, he steals ideas in a good way. That's why Evangelion is good, is everything anno likes from anime condensed in a pretty envelope, while the core is depresed 90s anno disecting real people with the psychology he read from books.
Is sad that fans of EVA will never understand the show because they lack the background, everything in EVA is overly familiar but presented in a really neat way. When people parrot the "get in the robot shinji" is clear that they didn't understand a single shit about what the show is about.
It Is Mazinger, Gundam, Ideon, Ultraman and more, all put inside a blender. Aside from pushing characters introspection and psychology to new levels there is not an once of originality in evangelion.
A tragedy that the whole "anime is dead" that anon has been saying since the 90s is exemplarized by how most discussion around EVA is "get in the robot" and waifu shit. The average /m/ poster refuses to even awknoledge EVA as good because it's fan base is composed of 90% of subhumans morons like the averrage evageeks poster or Twitter ironic webs
>Evangelion is all borrowed ideas and iconography from other shows
Watch more anime and stop repeating what you read on Cinemaphile.
Not that anon, but Ideon did a better version of Eva 15 years earlier and I'll die on that hill.
Ideon and Eva are like night and day, you can like both for what they do respectively.
>I'm right in my statement
No.
Yes
I'm right in my statement, is after I watched a lots of robot shows that I finally noticed everything resembles something else from another show in EVA. Also I don't lurk Cinemaphile or any anime forum for that matter
>kid who doesn't know tells anon who knows "you don't know"
why are zoomers like this
Ironic.
not sure if you agree or if this is supposed to be a smug "no u," because it is indeed ironic how dumb and self-assured the post i replied to was and would be in character to double down
>Amuro and Shinji starts the same
I hate americans.
What do you mean by that? That argument isn't wrong. If you think it is, prove it.
>prove amuro and shinji don't start the same
If you watched the shows instead of reading a wiki or watching some gay youtube analysis you'd know they are night and day.
You didn't posted why. You just tried to sound like a know-it-all without an argument. Amuro and Shinji are the representation of the shy regular Japanese boy with daddy issues that got involved in something bigger than he wanted. Their journey is not the same, they don't end up the same, but where they start is.
you're an idiot
You are not saying why the argument is idiot.
You are not saying why th argument is stupid.
I'm here willing to concede if I'm wrong, but none of you are posting what is wrong.

>Amuro and Shinji are the representation of the shy regular Japanese boy with daddy issues that got involved in something bigger than he wanted. Their journey is not the same, they don't end up the same, but where they start is.
You keep doubling down on your stupidity, where will you end up I wonder.
It's not about the robot. Every mecha other than Evangelion is about the robot. I'm half joking here, Eva fanbase seriously thinks that it's the only mecha which has drama and focuses on humans. Talking to most of them is like speaking to a rock.
I just think Eva is more similar to Zambot 3 or Space Runaway Ideon than any Gundam. It also probably helps that Eva takes more inspiration from live action sci-fi and toku shows than most mecha anime
>What makes Evangelion unique
Bullshit symbolism mostly
>I tried watching the original Gundam anime but I didn't like it?
Watch Gundam SEED, it's almost a remake of it.
UC timeline doesn't get good until Unicorn, but you unfortunately still have to watch the original, Zeta, and CCA. If you just want a standalone Gundam to see what the series is like then you should watch War in the Pocket or Turn-A Gundam (which is regarded as the best one).
>UC timeline doesn't get good until Unicorn
if the original is too old try with something newer like Thunderbolt, or as anyone has already said, Seed and 00
YHBTYHLHAND
>try watching it
>don't like it
>how do I get into it
Just watch what you like.
G-Wtich. It was made for peeps like you
Seed, Thunderbolt, 0080, Unicorn
by sitting down and watching it with your eyes dude
Boring. Post more Kallen instead.
bros I don't think the raid is actually ending...
Is it time to post Gundam boobies?
anon, if you like women just watch witch from mercury or something. just say you dont like mechas.
That anime looks like shit imo
Different anon but looking to try gundam. Is it fine to watch it all in release order? I know there's different 'timelines' and movies and ovas and whatever that make the chronological order different to the release order and so on so I though I'd ask.
yes, why would it be wrong?
