The "sLoW bUrNeR" reddit-tier fad trash needs to die. I don't want to watch a horror movie where absolutely nothing happens until the last 10 minutes. I will not be watching Skinamarkidinkydink or whatever its called. House of the Devil started this trend, literally nothing happens throughout that movie. I'll admit I liked the movie at the time, but mostly because having an 80's horror aesthetic in a modern movie was novel 10 years ago.
The 2000's killed the 'buckets of blood' aspect of horror with tortune porn like Saw and Hostel. Then the 2010's ruined the 'haunting' aspect of horror with Parnomal Activity, Insidious, The Counjouring and all that garbage.
I think horror needs to do a 180 and go back to *serious* attempts at making films that are 100% non-digital. No digital filming, and practical effects only. Some movies try to recapture the old days of horror, like Terrorizer, but they completely miss the mark imo because they are not 100% serious movies, and they're trying too hard to force it to be like an 80's throwback, so the final product just seems like garbage.
>I don't want to watch a horror movie where absolutely nothing happens until the last 10 minutes
This holy FRICK. My family acts like im fricking crazy for wanting this >but muh plot, story has to happen
Yeah, but so much that it bogs the actual plot down and youre bored out of your mind for 90 minutes? b***h please.
Not necessarily. I think part of the appeal of classic horror in general is due to the limitations of special effects in the 50's-early 90's. CGI will *always* look fake to an extent. This can be excused in other genre's like sci-fi or action, where the story matters more than special effects. I don't think it can be excused in a genre like horror that relies on the viewer experiencing a 'creepy', 'scared', or 'grossed out' feeling when presented with a special effect. The fakeness of CGI completely breaks that immersion for most viewers.
Shooting the film in analog instead of digital also greatly contributes to the tone of the film. Horror directors in general don't seem to factor that in (outside of horror, other directors for eg. Tarantino, DO factor it in). I would go as far as to say no great horror movie has ever been shot digitally, and no great horror movie has ever contained CGI.
trust me, I saw it when it came out, and it was only 9 years ago, so if you think that's some sort of benchmark of old internet then you have no place to call anyone else a newbie.
It does not change what I initially said

I'm sorry that you're embarrassed for your own generation, but 2012 was firmly millennial internet. The Lonely Island made a song called "YOLO" for fricks sake
this, it's been grinding the exact same circles and tropes since 1983. once in a while you have a slightly more unique movie like hereditary come along but overall it's a genre of nothing but rehashes.
Have a director that actually wants to scare people, and not just be there as a yes man, and a no budget man.
Have a great script, and great actors. But that...is really not a given these days. For any genre.
Wtf is this please tell me that's feces because I'm laughing pretty hard at the idea of being so detached from reality you're just spinning around on the floor in your own shit
There's nothing wrong with jumpscares or any other form of horror, just please for the love of god make me care about the characters or whatever else is happening for the other 90% of the film. Don't put a jumpscare and then 10 minutes of a worthless character running away.
I enjoyed most of it but it had some weak moments. I think considering the constraints under which it was made it deserves the hype and acclaim it got. I quite like when there's a fresh take on horror that diverges from the tedious rockabilly grind house stuff.
Bring back gratuitous nudity.

So basically more 70’s exploitation films?

Buckets of blood? How is saw not buckets of blood? have a nice day, the 2000's were the last boom period for horror
You film my apartment instead.
Spastic camera makes it impossible to follow, is this what the zoomer attention span is built for?
>bro you need to shake the camera even more to make it a hand held horror film!
this came out at least ten years ago
zoomers were still pissing the bed back then

Fricking newbies... you have no idea...
RIP
back in the boomer days of youtube, uploaders would fake their own death videos rather than abruptly stopping their uploads.
it doesn't change what I said
this was fresh when it was made, moronposter.
much like how wacky 90s humor was funny in the moment, but today most of it comes off as proto-zoomer

Watching this channel devolve in real time was really a treat. Glad I caught it
Horror movies are one of the genres that have got handicapped the hardest by woke shit.
>Cast now always has to be incredibly diverse, and you can't kill gays or blacks
>No female nudity allowed
>the final girl always has to a yasss queen
There are actually very few examples of the 'minority dies first' trope in 80s slasher movies.
>the final girl always has to a yasss queen
This has been the case for a long time. There's a reason why horror was one of the first to cuck out.
>Horror movies are one of the genres that have got handicapped the hardest by woke shit.
I've actually really liked some of the black horror movies that have come out.
80's Horror movies had a weird mixture of oedipus-Rex and women hating projection.
I'd like to see more psychological horrors with lots of gore.
the horror genre done everything imaginable, there's nothing left to make.
this, it's been grinding the exact same circles and tropes since 1983. once in a while you have a slightly more unique movie like hereditary come along but overall it's a genre of nothing but rehashes.
Tubgirl is classified as horror now?
She's just sexy to me... I've always wanted to suck that muddy pucker.
Surely I can't be the only one that wanted to drink that orange Gatorade?

Does it live up to the hype? Is it even worth watching? Was it scary?
I enjoyed most of it but it had some weak moments. I think considering the constraints under which it was made it deserves the hype and acclaim it got. I quite like when there's a fresh take on horror that diverges from the tedious rockabilly grind house stuff.
Is this the same Korean maniac I'd always see on Synchtube?
