Well you see, Carnage is a very physical character, so having an old man play him did have an impact on the performance; Woody walks and moves like an old man in every scene he's in, looking comical. It didn't help his performance was mid and he was probably high out of his mind and giving a low-effort performance even when he was just voicing a CGI character. As to your other "point", Carnage is a very well known and popular character and has been for decades and those that don't (your so called regular people) only need to know he's a red venom, just like the main villain in the first movie is just dark blue venom.

They're both really shitty movies. I actually had fun watching Morbius it was on par with Ben Affleck's Daredevil.

The average moviegoer doesn't care about rotten scores or ratings at all. IMDb would be a more accurate audience score.
Cinemascore is the most accurate audience tracker, nobody takes imdb ratings seriously
