south Dakota is just not going to be a great vacation destination. A third of it is called the Badlands for a reason. People living there are just plain going to have to travel a while if they want to go someplace fun or exciting for vacation. Because hardly anyone is going to want to travel to them.

Harley boomers in Sturgis is the best they got. And a part of that attraction is that it's so far out of the way that it's basically lawless and no one will notice what goes on there.

Every third party themed attraction made in the 70s was like this. Arkansas had a Lil Abner themed park that was also an incredibly half assed fricking mess like this with bad stucko walls and really bad costumes everywhere.

The California Peanuts themed park was also just as terrible before new ownership in the late 90s rebuilt everything and actually got the characters to be on model.

Apparently the theme park operators had the exact same mindset as the animators at the time, with the whole

Wait that came from lil abner?

                Anonymous

                >In Li'l Abner, Sadie Hawkins was the daughter of Hekzebiah Hawkins, one of Dogpatch's earliest settlers and the "homeliest gal in all them hills". She grew frantic waiting for suitors until she reached age 35 and was still a spinster, and her father was worried about her living at home for the rest of her life. In desperation, he called together all the unmarried men of Dogpatch and declared it "Sadie Hawkins Day". A foot race was decreed with Sadie pursuing the town's eligible bachelors. If Sadie caught a bachelor, he would be forced to marry her. She was specifically interested in a handsome boy named Adam who was already in a courtship with Theresa, whose father was the area's largest potato farmer. Unlike Sadie, Theresa had a number of courtship offers.

                >As the event became a tradition in the comic strip, Capp added more story elements. Each year, the Sadie Hawkins storyline begins with a prophecy by Old Man Mose, who gives Li'l Abner a cryptic clue about the end of the storyline, which always comes true in a roundabout, surprising way. The storyline sometimes also includes the Sadie Hawkins Eve Dance which is held on the previous evening, when the young women wear hob-nailed boots and stomp on their partners' feet, to make the bachelors run slower during the event.

It's weird thinking about how much HB loved to milk the frick out of a franchise forever and ever and ever and ever like this. They made Flintstones everything for decades, with spinoff series, remakes, and the last thing the studio made before going under was a Dino cartoon for the What a Cartoon Shorts program.

Include all things Scooby Doo, and Yogi Bear, and it looks like HB is never ever willing to let a property go. They want to eternally revive it forever.

what's the point in wasting money to build a theme park in a state that is too damn cold for more than half the year and has to be closed?

The fact that the Flintstones brand itself was kept alive beyond the late 60s is itself an insane thing to think about. HB kept bringing it back over and over and over again thorough the 90s. And it has remained on tv somewhere in reruns the entire tine to today.

The world itself is in a constant state of decay and rebirth. Eventually everything you held dear will become old and forgotten. Your life will diminish before you just as the world around you does. One day you yourself will perish and another will take your place.

Yeah, it really does feel like a missed opportunity. It would be the perfect attraction for a museum to help bring in curious people and nostalgic tourists.

Though I guess most museums wouldn't want to deal with the maintenance, but it's a legitimate piece of history that doesn't deserve to be thrown away like this.

When will someone had the audacity to make a fnaf game out of the Flintstones franchise? Or was it the banana splits?

        Anonymous

Flintstones would be more interesting of a concept, given the goofy prehistoric setting.

if there's some FNAF fangame inspired from the rotting corpses of cartoon cavemen animatronics, there should be characters inspired by these guys. They travel in a huddled group, like how the Delightful Children from KND move about. They could come off as lending you a hand at first, but fricking turn their backs on you near the final night because Wilma's animatronic fills their heads with lies about how you are only here to use them as a viewer boost for your channel or some shit.

this is located in the desolate fields of arizona, so any other buildings nearby are also tourist cash grabbers. in the distance, there is a building shaped like a ship (boat) and has animatronics resembling Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. Unbeknownst to any of the Flintstone and Banana Splits tronics, one of the sea monsters (maybe Sigmund) have snuck in and slowly consume pieces of the robots, in hopes that if they keep their appearances "fresh", it'll bring the tourists back. It has been a slow enough process for the animatronics to not notice their chipping away.

The Banana Splits animatronics weren't originally in this form while the place was in business. They are actually human mascot suits that the endos of past Flintstone animatronics put on, the ones who were the first of their kind at this place.

there's these leftover animatronics that got tossed quickly after the place failed, before it became a flintstones/hanna barbera styled entertainment facility. they were left locked behind some wall that caged them, sililar to what happened to the irl flintstone animatronics. they are attached to a singular metal rod with wheels on it. really they all share a singular ai chip, but over time, the ai split up different personalities for the other members. they kinda act and talk like the master from fallout.

The Sigmund-inspired animatronic who travels to this location does it like this and will store all of the pieces in its "hair" to cover up any missing pieces of its own. It's obviously not smart enough to know that these random pieces do not match it. It's not an evil being, it is simple minded and only wishes to freshen its appearance so tourists will come back to its establishment.

i mean, at least its style heavily influenced more recent cartoons' artstyles (like in 1990s through parts of 2000s). t00wn

And yet kids loved it just as much as adults. Really just shows how bullshit the suits claiming you need kids characters to sell a show to kids are.
