Do what James Gunn is doing. He's taking cues from All Star Superman and pic related. Stories that at their core deal with Superman and his ideals being confronted by a cynical world and a team of more extreme superheroes that consider him outdated. Although instead of The Elite and Manchester Black he's using The Authority and Jenny Sparks, culminating with an adaptation of Kingdom Come along the road, another story that deals with those same issues.
It would actually be very easy to make a modern superman movie, the villain has to be Manchester black.
Basically the bad guy has to be the self insert of everyone who hates superman and thinks he sucks
I disliked that movie because the arguments Manchester Black makes are actually compelling and make Superman look bad
That story is fricking dog shit though. Even Kingdom Come is only good for the art. They've been doing this "How does Superman fit into the cynical modern world" since the fricking 70s. Maybe the constant preaching about how important he is and why you need to like him and stop reading Spawn and Authority is why people stopped liking Superman.
What i find hilarious about these comics is that Superman always comes off as a hypocritical and hyper-sensitive butthole. Not to mention that the writers always feel the need to address some really moronic status quo stuff - like villains never dying or always escaping - which nobody but braindead capeshitters can't possibly excuse.

This. Why do I *have* to like superman? He's the first superhero, but that doesn't mean it's good. Everything about him is so arbitrary. Why the frick is he an alien, why is he basically human 1:1.
It's so forced. Like Mickey mouse. No child is scrambling to consume their content or merchandise, they're just handed it because major companies use them as the default. Given the option a child will always pick my hero academia or naruto over capeshit because they're working on a formula perfected over 80 years whole superman is literally just the first experimental type to work and has stagnated ever since.
The movie in the 70s had the right idea. Instead of making him a preachy butthole fighting against caricature's of comics that were selling more than him at the time they just made him a really cool fun guy who wins everyone over by being awesome. That's all it takes to beat cynicism, you don't need to brutalize any straw men.
The Strength of Superman Character that's he is an alien with more Humanity then most Humans
make movie about THAT, instead of the usual "Superman GOOD , Villen BAD, Superman beat the Villan , movie over"
Give him The Antithesis of his character with good Lex Luthor adaptation .. The Human with the least Humanity ,Who believe that superman mere existence is a threat , you can come from broken home , make something of yourself only to be outshined by a literal GOD
That's just not true. You're thinking of Doom. Luthor is usually saying how he would save the world if it weren't for Superman and never actually comes through.
Haven't read Red Sons so i'll give you that one but those other instances he's just doing it to prove he can do what Superman can't, and usually fricks up because his hatred for Superman is bigger than saving the universe. Like that one time a cosmic entity could give him omnipotent powers to save the universe but he only had to admit Superman was a hero and he relinquished such power. Him joining the JL is nothing but a ruse, too. He can do anything he sets his mind to, if only his hate boner wasn't so strong.

and that's his flaw, that what make him human, he isn't a boy scout and he knows that , he want humans to win without any alien help , i recommend reading Lex Luthor: Man of Steel , its 5 issues with a start and ending and Delve insanly deep into the character and its really the adaptation we deserve

I have read it. Have you? >he want humans to win without any alien help
That's what he says. What he really want is humanity bowing down to him and his intellect. He's vanity incarnate. He couldn't give a shit about the world.

Can't speak for the comics but doesn't he sacrifice himself to save it the DCAU Justice League?

Oh he's a fantastic character and the perfect foil to Superman. Imagine you're the smartest man in the world, rich beyond belief and has accomplished anything a human being can possibly accomplish and then there comes this guy that can do things you will never be able to do and people love him more than they love you.
>He couldn't give a shit about the world.
Can't speak for the comics but doesn't he sacrifice himself to save it the DCAU Justice League?
Yeah, Luthor in the DCAU was slightly different, the Luthor in comic books is a petty dick that will do ANYTHING to make Superman look bad.

DCAU Lex is the best version. At the start of STAS he was jelly of Supes as usual, but after the first attempt to kill him failed he just said frick it and moved on with his life. He only bothered trying again when something landed in his lap that would make the odds a shitload better, like Kryptonite and Braniac

>Who believe that superman mere existence is a threat
I can't remember which, because I'm not a big DC guy, but in one of those movies, doesn't Lex say something like "We're basically his pets", and I don't disagree with that sentiment at all. Or was it in Invincible, in relation to Omni-man?
And anyway, Injustice showed that all it takes is for something really bad to happen to break Supes' mind, and he's suddenly Earth dictator for life.
It would actually be very easy to make a modern superman movie, the villain has to be Manchester black.
Basically the bad guy has to be the self insert of everyone who hates superman and thinks he sucks
the new DCU is DOA because they did Lex again for the first movie instead of this guy. what a wasted opportunity and a death sentence for this new Superman. IT'S OVER.
It'd be the death of the character but to make him realistic:
After a long time against the worst, without company but the worst he prefers it. Doesn't want to spoil anyone or anywhere the does the right thing. He carries adaptation to hell and expects to fight it, when he doesn't have to his input may be an infection of it, even just an awareness that derails an accent.
I don't identify with him. Invenrebility etc would condemn by duty to constant intervention.
I think i've seen some hint of that in something, that he's never known silence. Or something similar.
Maybe make his job as a reporter or paper pusher within a news provider his attempt at making sense of screams coming from everywhere. Prioritising his help so he can direct it to save more than whatever is loudest, which regulary is just revelry.
A conflict of unexpected love, a guilty indulgence keeping him from being a machine. Having to pass as human meaning an ambivalence to wrongdoing. Seeing some can handle themselves and acheive something through it. Also an innundation of demands on them, and attractions occupies their mind, they are mostly unaware of horrors that sustain them and have seeped into normalisation. The details of things unadvertised. Like shops instead of slaughterhouses.
Innocent could be an act he exerts. As not to alarm them.
I think they should start off a new Superman doing Golden age local vigilante style stuff. People think he's an urban legend until he starts going after the corrupt in Metropolis (Clark Kent and Lois can be investigating at the same time). Luthor will end up being behind it of course.
People think Superman is boring because they think he's just a strong guy who flies. The fun and interesting stuff about him is when he tries to be Superman and do his job while keeping his secret from Lois and everyone else.
Make him benevolent, have the movie show humanity at its worst, and have supes be hated for saving them again and again. Make a point that it hurts him to see this brutality over and over again and that without him humans would be extinct, how easily he could walk away and be at peace.
But finally, have superman never give up, show that the man of steel has a steely love for the world, a steel resolve. A true super hero
I can't take his homosexual suit seriously, I don't give a frick about an alien who comes from a different planet that's basically humans. I don't give a frick that he's always right and always moral. I just don't give a frick. And nobody gives a frick, the concept is weak, boring, lacks any spark of creativity
Make him a mythical deity, make him magic, make his morals based on something tangible. And don't make it take place in some ugly perpetually endless New York city scape. And give him a cool suit that isn't a costume but an actual uniform or interesting fantastical style dripping with culture.
And most importantly make it have a beginning middle and end with a single writer,a single story and have it tell a story. Who the frick wants to read literally endless superman stories where he's done fricking everything. God I fricking hate comic books.
His morals are Truth, Justice and the American Way, taught to him by his christian parents from small farming community, which is more tangible than your post ironic millenial spergout.
Saw this the last week and the plane scene is the most Superman thing put on screen since Donnner Supes. Loved it.
For me the movie was dragged down by the absolutely atrocious Kevin Spacey with his creepy cheek pouches.

>BRAAAAAAAAAAP
you cant sit on a cloud
Anon... that's not a cloud. It is a gas tho
Why not
He's Superman. He can do anything.
Just make a Smallville movie.
Do what James Gunn is doing. He's taking cues from All Star Superman and pic related. They're just going to make that but with Authority.
Yeah...i said so as much in that very post you replied to.
I hope they don't hold back on how they did Superman's turntables with the Elite. show some brutality to make the fakeout more effective.
Is there a brief summary? What’s this issue called?
Superman in Action Comics #775
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What%27s_So_Funny_About_Truth,_Justice_%26_the_American_Way%3F
There's also an animated adaptation of the story.
I disliked that movie because the arguments Manchester Black makes are actually compelling and make Superman look bad

It is. There is literally no argument against this.
i agree, EVERYTIME Lex won in the comic he literally created utopia
That's just not true. You're thinking of Doom. Luthor is usually saying how he would save the world if it weren't for Superman and never actually comes through.
In Red Sons he create a utopia , literally saved the universe in Forever Evil , and currently (?) member of the justice league
and lets not forget this legendry scene
The Question is literally me. Just waiting for my Huntress gf to show up.
you can always go get her anon, i believe in you 🙂
>i believe in you
That's ok. Everyone makes mistakes.

>muh GOD
Go to bed Snyder, you shat on CLARK KENT - because that's his fricking name -for a decade.
>The Strength of Superman Character that's he is an alien with more Humanity then most Humans
Ironically this is the very reason people dont like him.
It all fake praise

not to mention they're doing the whole
>lex is young and goofy
thing again by casting nicholas hoult
it's truly over. i hope the 'dcu' never gets off the ground and Legacy is a tax-write off.
Where's that coming from? Nicolas Hoult has a lot of range. He's not known for being a goofball in every role.
Skins was 17 years ago.
Reminder that nu Superman spent 8 months getting gangraped and when he got out he was so buckbroken he just accepted it.
First recast superman
And make him black
Then make the story about reparations for POC and slavery.
Fixed

No one that matters think Superman is boring.
Batwank writers be like
You can't hes a boring character with a gay outfit
Weird, your mother told me the same thing about you last weekend.
So true, anyone who likes superman is w gay loser
gay losers > people who can't pass a spell test
Batman v Superman exists already.
proof again, that snyder never actually bothered reading the comics, just looked at the nice pictures.
he's dyslexic so that's probably close to the truth
how can someone just hire a dyslexic writer
good question

frick superjew
I really hope we get to see Lex's battle suit in live action at last.
At this point your only hope a decent capeshit movie.is if bollywood somehow gets permission to use the IP.
I can't take his homosexual suit seriously, I don't give a frick about an alien who comes from a different planet that's basically humans. Ok, it's a longshot, but hear me out...
What if superman.... was evil....
by making a great movie
just rewatched this the other day and like it more than Man of Steel
Saw this the last week and the plane scene is the most Superman thing put on screen since Donnner Supes. Loved it.
For me the movie was dragged down by the absolutely atrocious Kevin Spacey with his creepy cheek pouches.
Superman gets rid of the lgbt for starters, make the world a better place.
With style
>brainiac shows up
>steals metropolis
>Superman punches him
toss in Krypto or something.
We need some good DFW sincerity
Start by not doing whatever the frick Snyder was trying to do
War world movie.
Don't hire any Westerner to make it. Only people from outside of the West.
Make a Superman Movie where he wants the israelites to give back israel, and give back all the wealth they've stolen through out the generations and to apologize to every real German alive.
most moronic shit i have ever seen
