I have 2 brothers and a sister and my parents either charged us $100 rent when we turned 19 or we could do yardwork/etc. for her. There is no excuse to not have a job at that age. Why should they have to work for a living and you don’t?

She’ll finish her school and get big raises and has a great pension so we’ll never have to worry for retirement, within the next 5 years I’m sure we’ll be able to refinance for a lower rate and save 600+ a month, and she was adopted and has elderly boomer parents that will die when we’re in our 40s and we’re set to inherit at least 1 mil in todays money so we’ll be able to pay off any debt we have by then with that and have hundreds of thousands left over for retirement. Just feels very different to go from having over 200k in your bank account and investments to only 20.
