Aang is obviously smitten from episode 1, but that’s about it. Katara shows no interest whatsoever until the writers randomly insert a blushing scene, and they it’s immediately back to regular Katara showing no interest. That’s why it’s such a hated ship. There’s no natural romantic chemistry between the two, but the writers force them together.
