If anything, I will say the apartment scenes were the ones that got me, I could imagine his apartment, clammy, humid, either too cold or warm, the stench of rotting meat and the barebonesness of it.
Reminded me of my dads place the most (without the rotting meat stuff), just what it is to be an alcoholic essentially.
Not sure if a series like this would work for other serial killers though.
