    there are web pages about this and many other Hollywood movies based on real events. The fact is hollywood likes to use real events as source material for screenplays but then freely change reality to suit an agenda of one kind or another. Its really dangerous misinformation and a crime against history. I'm pretty sure there is not a single hollywood movie that is an accurate depiction of true events or people from beginning to end.

      The precursor to NASA where the women worked at had segregated bathrooms. But they were never enforced.
      All the segregated stuff was abolished in 1958 when NASA officially formed.

              NASA didn't even have actual digital computers until the Apollo programme, and even then they used the Black staff to learn how to run them.

              During Mercury and Gemini, all orbital calculations were done by hand, by a human computer, often someone of colour.
